The only TV comedies that make me laugh out loud are THE COSBY SHOW, RAYMOND, WKRP, and I LOVE LUCY. Today’s comedies aren’t much, in my opinion. The old ones, when comedies ruled, are the good ones.

Ice Age is my favourite movie franchise, too! Ray plays Manny so well, especially in the first one. For being mostly a comedy guy at the time he was able to a bring a lot of dramatic depth to Manny and his voice acting was so great in IA1 and the other Ice Age movies.

I had no clue he was a stand up comedian when he came out and I thought I knew them all at that point. I was 16 then. I guess because his stand up wasn't what I watched. I was more into Def Comedy Jam and raunchy type comedy. Jerry Seinfield was the same. I had no clue he did stand up when his show came along, but at that time I figured it was because I was only 11. I never thought his stand up was that funny on the show he did in the beginning, but loved the show. I've never watched Rays stand up. About to though.

I don't think he's TV show was the funniest show however, he's such a nice guy and a relatable character (and I'm not American) and it's not as if he isn't funny, that's what makes him, for me, so entertaining to watch whether it is stand up, his sitcom or the amazing acting in so many movies. He's kind to Phil also, who isn't great, Phil could have been replaced by anybody. On the TV show, Ray, Brad, Peter & Doris were indispensable, the little girl was surprisingly good too, the wife could have been replaced by anybody and most of the other cast also was replaceable.

I find it depressing that the people who are in charge of setting up "The Pioneers of Television" are in an industry where the lyric or the spoken word is everything. Yet how can it be that they have no concept of what the word Pioneer means ? Pioneer means those who are among the first to explore, settle or develop in this case T V. To be there in its infancy. I understand many of the original pioneers of T V industry have passed on but there are still some left to interview. I am not singling Ray Romano or any of the other non pioneer actors out, Rays show was funny And he has talent. this is not about any of that, A pioneer in T V would be Jack Benny, Yul Brenner, Dick Powell, Those who working in live T V when it began, Actors like Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, Even Angela Cartwright qualifies as she worked on the Danny Thomas show from 1953 to 57. Many of the actors they showcased here as pioneers started their careers when T V was in its 40th year. Hardly a pioneer. It's like comparing a pioneer family who traveled west in a covered wagon in the middle to later19th century, Who were the first real pioneers, To some guy driving west on route 66 in his 1940 ford and calling him a pioneer.

People need to make a living, make art, and if people want to buy that product, then they have created an industry that supports many. How many depend on the entertainment industry for their livelihood - from electricians to factories manufacturing Star Wars t-shirts in Bangladesh? Yes, the few actual creators make big bucks, as well they should, when millions of people want their creation that they spent their money to produce. Not everybody can just pull a hit show out of their ass; hardly anyone, as compared to the population. But people sure want to see them. It isn't evil to be successful. It isn't evil to pursue success! And entertainers do not steal money from the needy.
