this episode came out September 30, 2002. The first iPad wouldn't be released until January 27, 2010. the school Ray, the other parents, teachers and administrators were meeting in back then were lucky to be dealing with kids who still had an attention span.

I was actually like Ray in school I HATED the work…oohh boy did I deeply despise it! As a child in that era, Ray does have a point we had WAAAAYYY too much homework. We were up all hours of the night doing it, or just putting it off, because it was a butt ton of work.

I remember always having homework after homework after homework, in middle school. It really stressed me out because I was a slow learner (still am). So when you have two English assignments, four pages of math problems, history studying for a test, and a science project all in ONE NIGHT, it can definitely make you hate school. On top of that, even assigning work on the WEEKEND. The time when you're supposed to be able to relax and have fun. I can see like doing one page of math and reading one chapter of an English book one night, and then the next day focus on science and history, etc. But having everything crammed together was irritating. I always felt like I was stupid because I'd fail at so many things and couldn't keep up.

@@gavinlamp5426 ooh yea weekend homework was UNACCEPTABLE!! I flat out refused to do weekend homework. Like you said weekends were for fun and relaxing ONLY!! I had a super strict policy on that! My weekends had a strict NO WORK policy!

It was a joke based off of what Raymond told Marie earlier. He said “…thats how I got to be where I’m at.” Marie then chastised him for ending a sentence with a preposition.

Why does Marie consider Raymond illiterate if she acknowledged he’s a famous sports writer? I’m aware that those who are considered illiterate means they cannot read and write. If it’s because she didn’t like his attitude against education, I can understand that.

Because she’s all butthurt that he’s not writing anything of her interest. Sure she’s very proud that he’s a famous and successful writer but if has nothing to do with her or anything that interests her, he’s an illiterate. Shes a narcissist.

You got the idea, Marie did not mean Ray was unable to read or write, she referred to his attitude and his lack of respect and drive for education, especially getting involved with his kids education, As he hardly got involved with any kind of activity besides his job and sports.

I also loved too Frank said in the beginning of this scene… Frank : What’s going on in there?? (Slightly slams open the door) Marie : What’s the matter Frank? Frank : Oh. I thought you were eating that last piece of pie. Marie : I’m helping Raymond with his school project. Frank : Alright then, I’m gonna eat that pie so I know where it is. Raymond : Hey Dad, Let me get a a sliver of that. Frank : Nice try. Marie : Now Raymond, Pay attention. Frank pricks him with a fork when Ray tries to steal the pie. Then Ray gets up trying again to steal it and then Frank toys with him (Then when Marie sees she was reading to herself) Marie : RAYMOND!! Frank pricks him again with the fork. Ray : OW! What’s wrong with you?! Frank : I lliikkee pie 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 never gets old
