Greatest advice I have ever learned from another wise parent is try to instill common senses into them. Keep saying and repeating to them for years and years until they are so sick of it. But they know it's all about them and because we love them. Love is patience, love is kind. I took this to heart when it comes to childrens.

It's weird with children; some just don't bother to ever obey you no matter how much you shout or demand or threaten. It's like they live in another dimension and THIS world doesn't affect them. I was very strict with my kids, they obeyed me because I wouldn't tolerate anything else. I wanted to travel with my kids and take them with me everywhere so they HAD to obey and they did. I know I was too strict sometimes and too hard in my voice and I would take that back if I could, but I work with children and couldn't stand the thought of possibly having same kind of brats at home as in my job..

It's a funny thing though, before 2000 or so, I never saw any kids like the ones you mentioned, completely unaffected by any amount of discipline. Now it's common, how does that happen?

@@johnboehmer6683 It's true, I been working with kids for more than 30 years, and they have changed sooo much but it is very easy to see that it's actually the parents who have changed, they are so scared for their children's possible tantrums and also scared to hurt their children's feelings. They negotiate about going home, wich we never heard 30 years ago "are you ready to go home? No? But daddy is soon home and dinner is ready! No? well would it be okay for you if I let you go one more time on the slide and then come with me,would you like that? No? okay how about I push you on the swing three times? Okay, let's race to the swings and do it, good girl"... we all would want to scream to the parents "Take up your kid and put him under your arm and carry him out, BE A PARENT"!!!! Stop negotiating about ordinary things like going home, going to bed, getting dressed, eating...GROW SOME BALLS!!!

@@mrsTraveller64 Yes, everything you're saying here is horrifically true, but I think the cause for what you're describing is that liberal parenting beliefs were allowed to saturate, and somehow become the standard for acceptable and good parenting in the U.S.. Liberalism always appeals to our lower nature, in this case lazy parenting. It's just easier to be your child's friend, and not have to deal with the unpleasantness of disciplining them. No way to be "cool Mom" or "cool dad" when you're constantly correcting them, after all...then, one day when they realize that they have become their child's slave, they then try to lay down some discipline, but it's too late. Consistency is lacking. Liberal governmental overreach to take away parental rights hasn't helped here either. I think that when it comes to this strange thing you mentioned though, that no discipline seems to have any effect on some children, has a spiritual root, and primarily based in pride. This proud and aloof spirit gets ahold of many kids in the aforementioned lack of parenting, in their controlling people twice their size, also in the constant praise and spoiling prevalent in liberal parenting. This proud, haughty spirit determines a child to resist giving a parent the "satisfaction" of the intended reaction. it's demonic. Very interesting what you said, "it's like they live in another dimension, and this world doesn't affect them." Spiritual doors are open to the demonic when people refuse to do things God's way, or reject him outright. And so it's very likely that beings from another dimension (demons) are indeed what is behind this, and why sometimes it seems these kids have knowledge that they couldn't otherwise have. God help us!
@mrsTraveller64
@mrsTraveller64 18 күн бұрын
@@johnboehmer6683 And even if I don't really believe in spirits and demons and all that, it makes me wonder sometimes. The constant praise of children is true though "good job" should be banned, or "good jooooooob" as every mother says to everything her child is doing. Saw a video of a mom praising her son every five seconds with "good jooooooooob" and it sounded so annoying and fake I couldn't watch it. Let the child do what he does and AFTERWORDS when he is all done tell him "yess you did it" or "good job" or "well done", ONE time. Don't make him feel that he is doing something extraordinary when he picks up a toy or picks his nose or puts his shoes on. He will not be happy with "good job" at 15, he will want the whole world to recognize how "extraordinary" he is, and his only satisfaction will be the "you're the best" , "you're so cool", "you totally shine man" that he gets from social media. And that's why no one helps anyone anymore without someone filming them, they need the "good jooooooob" assurement constantly.

I hear ya, but this is something I was coincidentally just thinking about this morning... that in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, they were able to make funny shows without simultaneously normalizing horrible behavior. It can still be done, why isn't it? There's a lasting psychological influence on observing behavior that is getting a positive response, the roaring laughter of a crowd, n the context of entertainment. Even if only subtly, or subconsciously.
@PowerDiva
@PowerDiva 19 күн бұрын
@@johnboehmer6683 Well you used to be able to turn on the TV without seeing some reality TV show filled with horrible people whose only goal is to attack, degrade and undercut each other for the purpose of entertainment. But the world has changed unfortunately, and these studios wouldn't create and fund this type of junk if it wasn't popular. I'd much rather watch a show like this, which is still pretty wholesome entertainment in the grand scheme of things. Much more than a bunch of reality stars screaming at each other so they can get their 15 minutes. I blame talk shows like Jerry Springer for normalizing that style of entertainment.
@johnboehmer6683
@johnboehmer6683 18 күн бұрын
@@PowerDiva Yup, I'm sure you're correct again about the progressively worse state of TV shows today. And Springer was indeed one of the worst things ever. But here's the thing - Americans have always, will likely always have down time, and an appetite for entertainment. As such, if Hollywood would have just maintained decency and moral standards, people would still tune in, and they'd still get their ratings, their $, appealing to the good in us instead of the debased. Maybe not now though, as Americans have now been conditioned to this toxic dump. What I'm getting at is that the entertainment industry is as guilty as anyone for our new appetite for moral trash. They're not just giving the people what they want, they're pushing the envelope, taking the low road, and CREATING new lows in the process. As horrible as the choices are today, they'll be five times worse in 10 years. And Everybody Loves Raymond was just part of that downward spiral. Funny at times, of course. But I would just say that I don't blame anyone for being overwhelmed to the point of getting out of their entertainment vibe to take exception to the garbage that was prevalent at least once, usually 3 or 4 times per episode.
@PowerDiva
@PowerDiva 18 күн бұрын
@@johnboehmer6683 I don't disagree that Hollywood is part of the problem. I just don't think this particular show was a big part of that lol. Married With Children debuted and ran 10 seasons before ELR even came around. And that show was far worse at openly celebrating depravity and dysfunction. Still funny, but definitely on the crude side. ELR just leans into stereotypes and overemphasizes the dysfunction that real life families often have.

Even Ray’s final point has a pretty simple rebuttal. Yes Debra took her top off in college, and yes Ray went joy riding in his dad’s car. But guess what? They both turned out okay. They got married had 3 kids and Ray had a career as a sports writer. Everyone is going to make mistakes in their life or do something against their parent’s wishes, that’s life. All you can do as a parent is ensure your child is raised well, raised to think critically for themselves, and set them up to be successful in their own way when they’re grown up and go out into the world. The worst thing any parent can do is coddle and isolate your child from the real world.

True, through his dad he was just a terrible goon like he made them constantly fear him so it's possible that well he didn't want to be around frank. Or also is why he's scared of confrontation to begin with because he was a kid and couldn't do anything. If he did hed get seriously punished. So really he does want to be that for his kids so he can't show being tough at all and have them follow rules. There's a balance I would say but from both parents you can be both, that's when they trust you and respect you too. That, or ray is truly lazy and dumb? I have no idea lol.
