I couldn’t agree more a British icon through and through I first saw him in Robin of Sherwood when I was a lad and been a fan ever since watched most of his works also own quite a bit of it always watching them he did a documentary on KZbin down the cafe which was excellent my favourites are everything by nil to mouth and of course sexy beast and so many more what I like about him. He came from nothing and look where he is today. He’s conquered the film industry and for all his wealth, he has kept who he is. Well edited. My favorite Winstone film was Bouncer. Had a good story, was funny, and was realistic from how i remember the clubs back in the day. Well done with the diet Matt, as limiting carbs etc will put you in ketosis and help you lean up. It's also great for brain health. Be blessed!

Because he plays generally working class guys or crooks he doesn’t get the recognition amongst the acting fraternity that I think the watching public see’s, he’s one of those actors if he’s in it you know he’ll be great, he’s money in the bank every time🙌🏼 His performance in 44 inch chest is blinding and was never going to get, but worth an Oscar for me. Absolutely brilliant Matt. What a great actor Ray Winstone always a true reflection of the people he’s probably known all his life. Sexy Beast is a brilliant film. Regarding what you said about drinking. I haven’t had a drink for 15 years at the end of my drinking I was 20 stone red as a raspberry and aching all over. I go to a 12 step program and it made me realise that every time I drank the booze beat me. It’s got my number I can’t beat it will kill me. I’m a horrible drunk as well. One day at a time I’ve got my life back mate and it’s better than ever 🙏

I had a smoke (cigarette) with his daughter Jaime during a break in a play at Leicester Curve Theatre. I was in the audience and she I'm sure was doing a one person play.. Quite a comprehensive career synopsis there, Matt - I don't think you missed a beat. Alan Clarke's 'Scum' (1979) is one of those films that a lot of the lads liked back in the day but it's just not my cup of tea at all. I can't endure anything about being institutionalised (one way or the other) for purposes of entertainment. Notable exceptions, of course: Nicolas Winding Refn's 'Bronson' (2008), starring the great screen actor Tom Hardy; and Mai Zetterling's 'Scrubbers' (1982), which is to all intents and purposes the female version of 'Scum' - and features Kathy Burke in an early role. And Dick Clement's feature film spin-off 'Porridge' (also 1979), starring Ronnie Barker and all the favourites from the television series. I've always had a clear favourite among Ray's acting roles, and it's quite an early one: the slightly hapless rogue Arnie in 'Minder.' Arnie only featured in four episodes (out of a combined total of about 100 over 10 series) but the comic chemistry Ray finds with the George Cole / Dennis Waterman double act is magic. I have the impression George imparted to Ray some of the comic acting genius he garnered from childhood roles alongside the great Alastair Sim. Maybe this is something you could broach for discussion if you ever interview Ray for your KZbin channel. Throw in Bulla as a sweetener - how could he say no? It's good to see you're keeping yourself in shape, Matt. I recall a good vegetable casserole (with baked potatoes or pasta) was a regular fuel staple of my own sporting days.
