Saturday Night and Sunday Morning is one of my favourite films of all time. It resonated on a level with me that not many British films have surprisingly, and being British it was great to finally connect with a film from our island on a deeper level than just appreciation. It’s a wonderful film.

My favourite too. Have you seen 'A Taste of Honey' , 'This Sporting Life , Billy Liar , ' A Kind Of Loving ?? For the smaller screen try 'The Strange World of Gurney Slade' .

@@pyewackett5 Sporting Life really got me. Much more than Sat night. Powerful.
@pyewackett52 жыл бұрын
@@ImYourHuckleberry_29 It certainly is a powerful film & it's also dark. I have to be in a certain mood to watch it. I can watch Saturday Night/Sunday Morning anytime. Ever read the book ?? Large chunks of it had to be omitted from the film. I suppose certain topics were deemed a little too close to the bone in 1960.

An absolute legend and personal hero. thanks BFI, nice one!

***** Wow! How rude and disrespectful! Firstly, its not his roles as a criminal that makes me respect him. He has an outstanding body of work, from his role in Oldman's classic "Nil By Mouth" to Roth's "Warzone" and even a few comedy gems with the Primrose hill collective. Sure he plays a lot of "hard man" roles, which I might add are always EXCELLENT, but what have YOU DONE thats better?!?!? Secondly, I find it rather cowardly to post rude comments about such a talented artist that I know for a fact your wouldn't dare say to his face. Who's the "ignoramus" now? eh? SMH
