This story has a sort of sequel, you should check out the song "Back From The Dead". I don't think the song itself is a sequel, but the music video definitely is (as confirmed in the video itself). Loving the skillet journey, keep it going! Also, the members of this band are christian, so most likely he is talking about the darker side of him / devil on the shoulder type situation.

I've always understood this to be a song about the darkness inside all of us, that dark side that feeds your intrusive thoughts & makes you want to do all those things you know you shouldn't. Everyone has that darkness inside them, though it comes in many different varieties, and everyone tries to hide it and deny it's existence. The "scratching on the walls" and " teeth are razor sharp" represent those times when dark thoughts make you want to do bad things & you may feel almost like you're needing to restrain the monster inside you. Well this song, alongside The Resistance song by Skillet, was real wake up call for me recently. It show me, how immerse I became into my own problems and anger inside, The Monster I became to myself and everyone around me. But The Resistance really showed me that it is so much left to improve within me, that I can change myself and be what I always be all my life, drspite what others my think ad say about me - just being myself. That I can rise up again and live a life without need in so much struggle. So, Monster and The Resistance are really this two songs that wake me up recently and make Skillet my true heroes... This songs a really well represent my eternal and internal struggles with all of my anger issues and mental problems I have for the past 4 years of my life.

Sometimes it comes out and we feel like we had a containment breach. Not fun times. I love this song. Great reaction! I feel like it's more about fighting yourself, like in the video they're trying to escape the asylum (their demons) and when they're out they see only light (way to heaven). "Stop this monster" and "I must confess that I feel like a monster" is more like appeals to God. It's a Christian band after all. (sorry for my english)
