We first saw Lindsey on a talent show (America's Got Talent) where she tried to mix hip hop and violin - and Piers Morgan ridiculed her. A few years later, Lindsey came out with her first singles, Shadows, Crystallize, and Elements (all violin to dub step type electronica) that were mind blowing and fantastical, and she was selling out shows her first album and has been ever since (take that Piers). I highly recommend seeing her at her earliest album, Crystallize or Elements. (instrumentals)

Lindsey wrote this song about her battle with an eating disorder. Once you hear Lzzy's vocals you can't imagine anyone else singing it.
@fredcomstock1100 Жыл бұрын
Backstory of this song: It is about overcoming addiction. Lindsey over came an anorexia addiction and this some was the process of "breaking free" from the addiction. Lindsey inspired me to overcome my addiction of more than 30 years. That was 6 years ago and still good. I saw Lindsey with Evanescence in concert in 2018. Will never forget. Thank you, Lindsey.
@adiarainfoster11 ай бұрын
I have never in my life heard anorexia called an addiction so i just had to look it up to see if maybe something new was discovered. It's not even remotely an addiction. It shares no similarities with addiction. It's an eating disorder caused by fear and other psychological factors. The behavior is similar only in the lengths to which they will go to not eat but the mechanism for it is completely different from addiction.
@fredcomstock110011 ай бұрын
It can be considered a physiological addition. The same mechanism as an alcoholic needing that drink only at certain times or a smoker needing that cigarette every time after a meal. Yes, anorexia is an eating disorder, but the physiological need to look a certain way to the point of bodily harm, that is the addiction.

Lindsay wrote this song as a (very veiled) reference to her own struggles with bulimia, and something about the way Lzzy sings "SHATTer me" is so visceral and from the gut it's almost like she's trying to vomit some of the self-hatred out. Amazing to see Lindsay evolve from the dorky Mormon girl from big glasses and big shoes into a legit rock star, dealing with serious problems through art. A favorite of mine, it was great to see you appreciate it for the first time!

Have been a Halestorm fan for a long time. This song was my introduction to Lindsey, still my favorite of hers. Most of her stuff is instrumentals. As others have mentioned, she did a song with Amy Lee (Love Goes On and On). Evanescence and Lindsey toured together a few years ago, with Amy singing on Shatter Me. We weren't screaming at you about Lzzy's name....., Ok, we were.😁. One of the early Halestorm super fans , was also a huge Ozzy fan and started stylizing Lizzy as Lzzy. Obviously it stuck. 🤘🤘

Lzzy Hale has amazing power. Most of her music she usually screams, but I love it when she uses her power voice for songs like this because she has amazing range. The studeo unplugged version of this song is awesome. She sounds just as good as live. That's true talent.

Being one of many in Lindseys community on a rival streaming platform (Same colour as your hair madame),im sooo glad to see a reaction channel jump into her world of amazing music,and stunning collabs! Lindsey has lived a at periods of time,rough life. For some years she really struggled with eating disorders as an result of all the trauma,but shes in a super healthy spot these days,and her main drive is to make other people smile,and give other people the motivation,inspiration they need. She (and her more unknown sister) are angels on this earth. If you at your own time want to hear from Lindseys own sister Jennifer abit of theyr upbringing,how close they are etc a friend of mine did an interview with Jennifer + a reaction to this very music video together. "Shatter Me by Lindsey Stirling ft Lzzy Hale | Suicide Survivor Reacts w/Jennifer Stirling" I might sound biased,but its one of the best interviews i have heard after theyr reaction together,you get to know both Jennifer and Lindsey amazingly well through Jennifers words. I saw how Lindsey at the end made you smile alot,thats Lindsey on a day to day basis,too charming,sweet,goofy and inclusive. A super loving,amazing woman and artist. She also started streaming,but not to cash in on it herself,she tells everyone new coming into her community,that subs and other forms of donations goes to charity she burns for,shes simply there to connect with her fans/supporters,and give them a unique look into her rehearsals for upcoming shows,or just a just chatting stream where she hangs out. Shes truly unique for how many views she gets on YT,and how many people listen to her music/buys her songs or tickets to her concerts. Most reaction channels and even the ocassional fan is unaware of this live radio performance that Lindsey and Lzzy did together.......stripped down! The people that has seen it,says its even more powerful then the music video: Lindsey Stirling "Shatter Me"(feat. Lzzy Hale) // SiriusXM Been out for 9 years now and still has ways to go to pass 1 million views,wich just proves that most people out there hasnt even seen it yet. Its a mindblower! Strong recommendations of Lindseys solo music: Artemis (and after that) Lindsey Stirling - Til The Light Goes Out (Official Music Video) Its my favourite instalment of her own original comic books (Artemis being the third one) art telling the story of each her albums. Why its my favourite instalment? I get such a strong feeling of "winter is coming", "king of the north", "the north remembers" from it. If you know what favourite show these quotes are from,then you know the answer. If you instead want more amazing collabs Lindsey the sweetie has done: Lindsey Stirling & Pentatonix - Radioactive (Imagine Dragons Cover), Lindsey Stirling - Love Goes On and On ft. Amy Lee of Evanescence (Official Music Video) to name 2 of my other favourites. (She has done more collabs)

Oh, PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE check out much more from Lindsey's channel! She became famous because she could dance Ballet WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY playing Violin! She basically built a completely new genre, created her own niche in Music and on the internet. The niche she carved for herself is now known as the genre, 'Dubstep Violin'. From the beginning of her channel, one of my favorite videos of hers (besides this absolute masterpiece that you just reacted to) has always been the one called 'Shadows Dance'. It has no words, just music and dancing and a really cool twist. Lindsey eventually took vocal lessons so she can sing now, so she sometimes does. She's AWESOME and I LOVE HER!

I love watching all of your reactions, but I usually watch KZbin on my big screen TV so I don't comment often. I was thrilled to see you react to "Shatter Me" or any song by Lindsey Stirling. She is a very talented & creative woman. Most of her music are instrumentals unless she collaborates with a singing artist on their songs or on her own composed songs that call for vocals. In her live concerts Lindsey is known as a dancing violinist which she has mastered over the years. She taught herself to dance while playing the violin in her early 20's and really built-up her dancing skills after her stint on the 25th season of Dancing With The Stars in 2018 in witch she and pro-dance partner Mark Ballas finished in 2nd place that season. Besides music that she has composed (four albums), Lindsey has done many covers of well known songs with her own spin on them as well as Christmas music (two albums) and Gaming music. Like this collaboration with Izzy.... Umm... I mean Lzzy Hale, Lindsey has collaborated with Pentatonics - ("RadioActive", "Papaoutai", "Over The River"), ZZ Ward - (Hold My Heart"), Celine Dion - ("The Show Must Go On" from Celine's Icon award performance in 2016), TheTenors - ("Who Wants To Live Forever"), Amy Lee ("Love Goes On and On" and Evanescence's "Hi Lo") and her collaboration with Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness on the song "Something Wild" from the film/ soundtrack 'Pete's Dragon' (2016), and the callaboration list goes on and on. BTW, Lindsey Stirling does sing although she perfers to sing on Christmas music mostly like "Santa Baby", "Warmer In The Winter" (Original), "I Wonder As I Wander" or backing vocals.
