What I loved about this series is the fact that Raylan was both a badass gunfighter and a horrible brawler, dude got his ass kicked the majority of times he got into a scrap, love that realistic touch.

I think Raylan knew it would be better to just fight than to kill him in his momma's store. I think Raylan knew it would garner good will with her because she knows he could have shot him and been justified in doing it. You take one for the team now to have a card to play later... Someone did that to me once. I went to his funeral almost a year after, and then spent some time expecting to be visited by the police, but they never got around to me, they found someone else to like for it. Not that it was me of course. The thought actually never even crossed my mind, and I was as surprised as everyone else when he was killed. The kind of life he lead, there were lots of guys waiting for him to take a wrong step, like, across a pedestrian crossing at the wrong moment, or as the matter turned out, spending too many nights sleeping drunk on his sailboat, so someone finally couldn't resist the temptation. Or so the police and court believed.
