Rayman 1 Mods Showcase (PS1)

This is a showcase of several mods which have been created for Rayman 1 over the past couple of years. This is all thanks to a lot of progress being made in decompiling the game as well as using the PSX Modding Toolchain to facilitate creating mods for the PS1 version that inject custom code. In the future I also hope to make these downloadable directly through the Rayman Control Panel.

Man, it's so ironic that a death counter makes so much more sense than a life counter. Also, I though of Rayman's music and Rémi just before getting shown this video. What are the odds?

Yeah, making the game have endless attempts like Super Meat Boy and stuff does fit better the more challenging levels up ahead.

Awesome choice of music, but missed opportunity to nót include a mention about it in the description 🙏💡Other than that, great & fun showcasing, but I was a bit confused when I landed @speedrun practice feat. all those values .... never mind though 😁 What I didn't know or had forgotten is, that you can basically play all levels in Darkness, which is interesting 🕶🌚 It reminds me of Chicken Invaders Universe, where you basically have this Darkness limitation as well 👍

Thanks! And sure haha, I added it to the description now! Seems a lot of people here hadn't heard it before 🙂 As for the speedrun practice, yeah this video was mostly a showcase of the different mods so I didn't go into much detail. The two values you see on the top are the "speed storage" for your left and right speeds. These can be used to perform several speedrun tricks. On the bottom-left is an in-game input display and then on the right you have a timer and a display for the current fist power level!

@@RayCarrot Well done and yeah, I noticed that in the comments 🎼 Also still taking note of the _"Work in progress ..."_-mention on the BC page, but wishful thinking ;-/ 🪦 Yeah, I understand that the showcase had to be a bit of a speedrun on its own ^^ Roger that for the 'speed storage' and I remember translating something regarding this already 💡The rest you're elaborating on makes sense, but I was mostly confused with the options on the top left; having a closer/slower look now, it's basically divided by main --> sub options = then very well done, but I interpreted it differently @full speed 😄

I imagine random level effects enables some fun challenge runs lol. The Death Counter one is also simple, but nice to have!

That's crazy, I hope someone could port the pc levels to the ps1 version one day, Designer/His Fans/60 Levels

That should in theory be possible yeah! The biggest issue would be the graphics. Editing those isn't all too easy on PS1 due to how the VRAM works there. There are also memory limitations to deal with.
