I enjoy how much the player talks. It actually makes me feel welcome and more interested in what's going on, as opposed to the silent ones who just press buttons and don't seem to be having any fun.

It still makes me smile to see speedrunners actually watch each other play and do it for more than just "showing off" themselves. They're doing it for a great cause and have fun along the way. Keep it up all of you!

that's blugrass, and pretty much all the guys respect him because of that, he stays up to watch most speedruns even if there are only like 2 people, when most just watch 1 or 2 speedruns other than theirs. And also he knows a lot about pretty much every single game in the universe

I have never gotten very far in this game. I got to the first few levels of the music sections and then I gave up because I just was not good at the game. Kept dying at the same things, etc, etc. Still, a good and well explained playthough. Keep the awesomeness coming guys!

I disagree, I think the flying segment of Pencil Pentathlon is the worst; when you're completely surrounded by the green pins and there's barely any space between the tip of the pins and the bouncy erasers below.

When you're doing speedrunning and you have people who want to do them, being open with your mistakes helps those who want to do them see what they are and keep their eyes open for them too. Think of it as educational.

@1:02:35 that was in fact a Supermutant Behemoth that would show up if you took a teddybear from one of their cages. that's the only way that particular behemoth shows up. it even is possitioned so that sometimes if you open the cage it starts flailing about as if calling for help.

I think you can easily say the same thing about anyone who is skilled at anything. Once a person does something well enough, they understand the min/max of it and judge their performance based off of it. Artists, video game players, athletes, etc.

I know, it took me months to get through a couple of levels. Just destroying my whole childhood seeing this guy just speed running through this game.

Speedrunners (or any professional gamer) and artists aren't very different, if you have any experience with artists or writers. When you develop your skills, you also develop your cognition. In the case of art, it means you start to see pictures differently, and become better at recognizing skilled or unskilled work. This raises your standards. Something similar is at work with speedrunning. Playing at this highly competent level makes you more sensitive to your own little blunders.
@ha1vorsen11 жыл бұрын
It really is. Have you ever watched one of these at one time? I'm trying to watch this and OoT 100% at the same time. This channel takes up more than 50% of my KZbin. I'm a speedrunner myself, but I don't post it...mainly since I don't have a camera and I'm saving for a 3DS.
@WarriorOfTheHeavens9 жыл бұрын
I think the enemies do learn your style of play, because if I were to repeat a level I have completed it seems harder... maybe it is just me, but I like farming for lives so I repeat levels quite a lot and the enemies become a real pain.

in the end i believe anything can be seen as art but its what the person sees as art, for some people it stops at pictures, for me its almost limitless, games books music people food hobbies, all these things and much more i see as true art and some is more artistic than others, spike here has worked hard to perfect a run of a game that he likes and continues to seek perfection to the point of frustation which to me is more inspiring than 3 squares on a bit of paper hanging in a museum.

Getting good at a video game and getting good at painting both require an investment of time, and skill can be developed in both fields. Being dismissive of playing video games because they're considered childish time wasters doesn't change that, especially in a futile universe in which there's no objective standard to grade pastimes. Whether you play video games or paint, the sun is still engulfing the Earth eventually.

That's certainly the case, but feelings like this are most typical of artists. It's easier to make the comparison with something someone probably already knows, or may very well have experienced. Marathon runners aren't exactly known to lament over having to stop at 26 miles, for want of the ability to run 30.

We call non-speedrunners 'casuals' because they don't try hard enough to go fast through the game. If you do try to go fast through a game, although you don't think you are, you're considered a speedrunner.

Nor is it necessary to point out that you find something someone says compulsively "frustrating." Indeed, saying it was frustrating in a KZbin comment indicates forethought, while cursing yourself for screwing up a trick is reactionary.

But as any actor would tell you (a form of artist). It is not endearing to make your blunders obvious to an audience that otherwise would be oblivious to them. or to use the proper expression, 'just go with it.' It does take some training to keep yourself from doing this but it is worth your while as it makes you seem less flawed, more competent and even makes you more relatable.
