This debate will go on forever. Both players are very different and came up differently. Eto’o was brilliant, skillful, smart and one of the greatest goal scorers of his era. Drogba on the other hand was just a force of nature. It was just something about him that you really can’t quantify. He was a special player, feared across Europe yet adored every where he went. He had this invincibility about him that when at his best, there was a feeling the game wasn’t over yet regardless of the score. He had many intangibles. Arguing who was better or putting one over the other does such injustice to what either of them were about or brought to the game. They both achieved iconic status and feature on most all time best player lists. When players get to that level, it’s just a matter of personal preference. The finesse of Eto’o or the brute of Drogba!

Eto’o didn’t play for him until late 2009 with the treble-winning Inter Milan team and then later in 2013 at Chelsea when Eto’o was past his prime in a team that wasn’t really in a great position to do well. If any1 remembers the Inter Milan vs Barca game where Etoo was deployed as a LB by Jose due to a controversial red card and Man the guy played there like he was a born LB.. What a game that was and for me one of the top 5 CL games of all time.. Barca robbed themselves in day light with swapping Ibra to Etoo with an additional fee of 40M something..
