Short answer- No. loads more to come with OpenPlotter. I’ve just not found a suitable external screen at a good price yet. So for now I plan to use both.

Thanks for yet another interesting vid. Could you list what made *this* display the (only?) one _suitable_ ?

Hello, in terms of replacing my C80? I still want some mainstream marine electronics onboard although I have had a look at waterproof external displays which are touchscreen. I think trying to DIY a screen with buttons in a marine environment is still a challenge. So that leaves we with bought products. I’ve looked at all the brands and to be honest they are all the same, some might win on one area and then others might on something else, then it’s personal choice and/or how much time I need to spend cutting, fitting, making it work. The Axiom fits (with an adapter) the same space as my C80 even down to the same screw holes. Then I find I already have have a Seatalk to SeetalkNG converter in my boat so it’s more points for Axiom. I love to mess about with electronics but sometimes plug and play is good! ⛵️

Hi. I installed the Axiom Plus. It is a great instrument at the helm, powerful. However the Wifi function for linking with a tablet or iPad is unstable. You will need it for your passage planning below deck. Cheers

Hi Marc, thanks for your comments and the info on the linking of devices. I will have to give it a try. Have to say getting charts to update was a little painful but I do like the unit and how well it runs. It’s a massive step up from a C80!

hey, i am a little late here, but wanted to ask if the axiom is performing well, BUT also what kind of maps did you buy, i think there are different navionics ones that fit??. Can the entire Caribbean and north Atlantic be on it? how much do you think that would cost. Can the same maps at we havo on Navionics on the phone/ipad be used? good videos btw.@@BoatingwiththeBaileys

Hi - Thanks for your comments. I'm pleased with the Axiom and its performing very well. Its easy to use which the C80 really wasn't. In terms of maps, i actually went with Lighthouse charts. I got a really good deal which covered a large area and I thought that I could use that as a base chart in the future when the subscription expires. With Navionics, you can link to the app and also update from the app but you have to have a valid subscription on both the Axiom and the app. I don’t think that’s a bad idea and i personally really like Navionics charts i think they are my favourite out of all that i have tried. You can have multiple subscriptions for Caribbean and North Atlantic looking on Navionics. For Lighthouse, the SD card still needs to be in the device. I’m not sure for Navionics, i might switch this next year and try it.

@@BoatingwiththeBaileys Thank you once more for the informative update. I would like to express my satisfaction with the current state of both the Navionics software and Axiom hardware. In my primary setup, I utilize Navionics, and I routinely renew my subscription directly from my Samsung tablet. An interesting feature that I discovered later on is the automatic connection between the Navionics tablet and the Axiom for updates, eliminating the need to switch SD cards. While I haven't fully grasped the intricacies of this functionality, I've observed that when I approach the Axiom with my Samsung tablet, they seamlessly connect, allowing for convenient updates.🤨

Hi. I am having trouble with the heading of my compass for my P70 automatic pilot. I guess there is a data conflict in the NMEA with the GPS from the B&G VHF V60B GPS and the Axiom GPS. Any idea if I can deactivate the sattelite/GPS in Axiom Plus? Cheers from Nieuwpoort.
@BoatingwiththeBaileys Жыл бұрын
Hi, I know in the axiom you can do preferred sources which is in Network, Data sources. Can you do the same on the P70? In Data sources on the Axiom for heading, can you see multiple options? That should tell you what’s putting that data on your network

@@BoatingwiththeBaileys I have successfully addressed the issue mentioned in my previous comment. Contrary to initial assumptions, the problem did not stem from network-related issues or Axiom functionalities. Rather, it was identified as a hardware malfunction within the Raymarine P70 unit. The resolution was achieved by replacing the affected hardware. It's noteworthy that the complication was unrelated to Axiom or GPS elements. This experience has contributed to my learning process.

Glad you got it resolved and thanks for coming back with an update. I’m sure that will be helpful for someone else.

do you have to attach the shielded wire
@BoatingwiththeBaileysАй бұрын
Hi, yes you do, otherwise you might find the screen less responsive.

I'm very disappointed in the installation instructions .I have to buy a transducer and cable which I feel for this amount of money should been included!! so I would never buy this ever again but now I'm stuck with it
@BoatingwiththeBaileys4 ай бұрын
They are expensive items that's very true. Do you not currently have a depth sounder onboard?
@darrenstephenson126025 күн бұрын
I dont understand why the transducer is needed? You can use it without, can you not?

Hi, great video. Thanks, I have a seatalk back bone, which is powered by my raymarine autopilot. If I plug the seatalk in from the raymarine Axiom do you not need to use the power lead? Also did you mirror ok? Thanks a lot, Darren
@BoatingwiththeBaileys25 күн бұрын
Hi, thats powered the same way as my setup. Yes you do need to use the power cable for the Axiom, it uses to much power to be powered directly from the seatalk bus (Or the NMEA 2000 bus). Also remeber to conect the screen cable to ground otherwise the touchscreen is less responsive. On the Mirror question, is that when you connect to it remotely via an ipad or phone? If so, yes that works, although i dont use that function very often.

@BoatingwiththeBaileys Thanks for the information, and yes I did mean mirroring your iPad phone.
