In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens kzbin.infoUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

I have an Axiom 9 in the cockpit and an es78 at the nav station as the slave. The latest Lighthouse update appears to be for the Axiom only. Will an update to the Axiom prevent the network from operating properly because the es78 is on a different update version?
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hello Charlie. If you updated your eS-Series to LightHouse 3, you'll want to keep your Axiom at the same software level. The last LightHouse 3 release for eS-Series units was 3.11 Cannes. Your Axiom should also remain at 3.11. There are features in the later LightHouse 3 Axiom versions that are not supported on the older eS-Series hardware. Running different versions on your mixed-display network could cause instability or crashing.

Very interesting presentation! One question to routes and waypoints: is it possible to set a wanted ETA for a specific WP in a route? This could be to arrive for a bridge opening or to reach a tidal current and then the previous WPs are adjusted to rematch this ETA ( and thereby of course also help to decide departure time from first WP).
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hello Jan. This is a fantastic idea, and unfortunately I am not aware of a way to get the system to generate it. Your scenario of trying to make a bridge opening or some other deadline makes perfect sense though. I will make the suggestion to our team.

Just started watching your ray marine talks here in the U.K I have Raymarine instruments on my 11 mtr yacht including an Axiom 9 with the latest software and Navionics. My question is I am struggling to find and use Anchor Watch . Can you please help . Chris Wilson
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
Hello Chris. I'll try to cover anchor mode in detail in a future video, but in a nutshell, here is how it works. When you are going to anchor switch your chartplotter into Anchor mode. Axiom uses some measurements from your boat, along with live GPS position and water depth to help you decide how much anchor rode you will need. If you prefer to use more or less chain, you can adjust it to your preference. The anchor mode display shows you a detailed chart display with wind and tide vectors overlaid on it to assist in gauging how the boat will drift when stopped. When you reach your drop point, stop, and drop anchor, you'll touch the Mark Anchor Position button. The GPS position of the anchor's resting point on the bottom is saved. You can now begin backing down and paying out chain to the suggested length. When the chain is fully deployed, touch CHAIN OUT. You'll have the option to adjust the final length of chain, reset the entire process (Raise Anchor) or activate the anchor alarm. On-screen you'll see the boat's calculated swing radius as well as its drag circle. Should the boat exceed the drag circle, you'll receive an anchor dragging alarm. If you have not seen it, I highly suggest checking out the Axiom LightHouse Advanced Operating Guide, available on Raymarine.com. The Anchoring Mode is described in detail starting on page 215. You can get the manual here: raymarine.app.box.com/s/rvhycb6x1brzo64921k5tsqwv2ica3j6/folder/200926262503

Thanks for watching! I suggest getting in touch with Yacht Devices, who makes a few different engine gateway devices that work with 2000's era Volvo engines. Many Volvos from that era outputted either J1708 or J1939 data. Axiom is looking for NMEA 2000 engine sentences. The Yacht Devices gateways can translate from the automotive/industrial protocol to the marine industry protocol. You can find them online here: www.yachtd.com

Does the auto routing compensate for great circle sailing distances or just rhumb line
@Raymarine10 ай бұрын
Axiom does plot a great circle route if you manually plot a start point and a distant destination. You can see it if you range out and drop a waypoint out-to-sea. The track line it plots will be curved. You can follow that trackline either manually or by autopilot. When you say auto routing though, I'm not certain if you mean the basic ability to plot a route and follow it with your autopilot, or if you are referring more specifically to the Navionics or C-MAP automatically generated routes where you simply specify the destination and their algorithm figures out the best way to get there. With routes figured out automatically by those automated systems I am not certain that Great Circle routing would truly factor in to them. I say this because they tend to automatically inject intermediate waypoints along the track. I will need to do some research and confirm, but I think there are some limitations as to how far of a distance over which they can automatically generate a route. When you have a moment, please send me an email to james.mcgowan@raymarine.com so I can get back to you on this. I will try to find out a bit more about how the automatic routing system behave over longer distances where Great Circle routing would be a factor.

Hi, I have a navionics subscription on my iPhone. I also bought an axiom plotter. Can I transfer the navionics maps to axiom? Or should I buy a second subscription for the axiom too? Thanks
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
Navionics considers the subscription attached to the mobile app to be a separate entity from the subscription for any maps plugged into the Axiom chartplotter. If you want to synchronize chart updates between mobile and the chartplotter you do need to have an active subscription for both devices.

if I connect a secong Axiom+ MDF via a Raynet cable.., Will it be possible to use the Slave MDF to make Waypoints backups via its micro-sd card reader at his back ?
@Raymarine2 ай бұрын
Yes. When networked together using RayNet, the waypoint, route and track database is shared across all Axioms on the network. Though technically they are stored only in the master, you can initiate a backup from any display and save them to a micro-SD card in that display.

Can the system automatically adjust for daylight savings starting and stopping based on your region, or do you have to remember to change it? Thanks
@Raymarine2 жыл бұрын
Hello ME. Raymarine systems do not automatically adjust for daylight savings time. You will need to change it yourself. Fortunately it is very easy on Axiom. On the home screen touch the clock, located on the top, right corner. Touch Time Offset from UTC and adjust your time zone accordingly.

I just bought an Axiom+9 with Light house 3. I hooked it up on my boat just to check it out, I could see the autopilot wheel position. I then took the unit home and upgraded to Light house 4 software. Now the Axiom display does not show the wheel movement. but it does show on the autopilot control. Is there a way to get this function back. I am running ST60 instruments.
@Raymarine2 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert. We are chasing a bug right now in the Lighthouse 4 software related to that rudder angle indicator dropping out. We have a fix in the works and will be releasing a Lighthouse 4 update before the end of the month that will squish that bug and a few more that have been brought to our attention. If that is critical, you can roll-back your display to LightHouse 3.16 by downloading it from our website to a microSD card, and installing it through the MFD's card reader.

You explain everything so easy, thank you 🙏 I’d love to know why when I plan an autoroute I don’t see the total length of my create route
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
Hello Ingrid. Thanks for watching the show! The best place to see the overall length of your route is in the route plan. After a route is created you'll see 3 popup options for Follow, Route Plan, or Exit. Touch on Route Plan and you'll see a grid and small chart preview showing all the intermediate waypoints. In the column labeled distance you'll see 2 values listed. The first number is the length of that route leg, and the number below it in parenthesis is the cumulative distance. If you scroll to the last waypoint in the grid, you'll see the overall distance it covers. You can also see the route plan at any time by long pressing on any leg of the route, and selecting Route Details from the popup menu. That will bring you to the same route plan.

The background color (as seen on the display box is also very desirable). Thanks much again.

Hi Jim Love watching your stream as thinking of purchasing a new chart plotter. I have an old 14 year old Ray marine chart plotter in an enclosure mounted in front of the wheel. i have a few questions before i commit to new replacement plus version. Does the axiom plus 7 & 9 support Imray charts UK that i feel they do but is there a trade off rather than purchasing Navionics or Lighthouse charts? Does the axiom have a trip odometer as my old ray marine MFD relied on a separate knot speed gauge to give distance travelled. This is very annoying as the separate unit gets stuck with weed from time to time but suddenly the separate speed gauge comes into life when travelling after freeing up the weed. My previous Garmin chart plotter recorded distance travelled over ground, Total distance for day etc and total from start of install. My current old ray marine chart plotter does not record unless linked to separate speed distance gauge! As mentioned above with weed problems this can be very inaccurate if linked to speed gauge. The Garmin i imagine worked out the distance travelled from A to B and why wouldn't it as it has location GPS details every step of the way in its memory. Why is my old Ray Marine MFD not recording it and if i change to new Axiom plus will it record this without a separate speed gauge connected? Bit worried about screen size and actual screen size without borders or surround . I was thinking of the Axiom + 7 but i can see dimensions online but for total size of unit. What i want to know is the height and width of the actual useable screen or map displayed in millimetres if possible. I have defiantly chosen to upgrade MFD to Ray Marine from original but i feel the axiom 7 might be too small to what i have and a axiom 9 might be too big for enclosure. Yes i anticipate you saying different options for enclosures but i would want to fit in original enclosure without having the cost of a bit of plastic! Just cant invisage the axiom +7 without actual viewable screen size. I am almost ready to press buy button but hovering over it as a few questions. If you can reply it would be great Jim. Very good Web broadcast. Regards Sean
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
Hello Sean. Thanks for watching the show. I'll try to pop all of the answers in here, but if I do miss one, feel free to email me at james.mcgowan@raymarine.com. Imray Charts for the UK are available for our Axiom systems. They are raster charts, meaning they are digital scans of paper charts. They are very accurate and detailed. The main difference you'll see between them and Navionics or C-MAP is how they work in a Head-Up presentation, and how they scale. Since the Imrays are raster, the text on them only reads correctly when north is at the top of the screen. If you happen to run in head-up chart mode, you'll be reading the text, depths, etc. from a different angle. There are also not as many zoom levels on them, again due to them being essentially large digital images. A Navionics, C-MAP or Lighthouse chart (by Raymarine) is a vector chart that renders according to the orientation selected, and it re-scales automatically for whatever level of zoom you select. All of our Axiom systems to have a GPS-based log that can be used to record miles traveled. We support the paddlewheel system too, but having both is convenient. There are actually multiple logs that can be set and reset independent of each other so you can easily keep track of lifetime, daily, and seasonal miles as you like. The actual screen area on an Axiom 7+ is 155 mm wide and 86 mm tall. Diagonally it measures 177 mm (7.0 inches). I hand-measured these just now with a ruler on an actual unit. For comparison the Axiom+ 9 is 200mm wide, 112 mm high, and 230mm diagonal (9.0 inches.) Feel free to email me if you have any additional questions.

LightHouse charts for North America are pre-loaded with US and Canada charts. Plug it into your Axiom, launch the char app, and go to Menu....Settings....Cartography. Choose LightHouse charts as your preferred chart source from the menu there and the detailed map should load. The "Premium" content is not pre-loaded on the card. For that you will need to visit chartstore.raymarine.com and activate your 1-year Premium subscription using the voucher code that was included with the map card. There you can add satellite photos, streets, and premium points-of-interest to your card. It will also check to make sure the charts are up-to-date.

I was looking at a boat down in Tampa but Pittsburgh is the closest water way to me how would I set a route & fuel for this trip?
@Raymarine2 жыл бұрын
Axiom has the ability to automatically generate routes if you are running Navionics or C-MAP cartography. There is a limit as to how far you can go on a single route, and a limit to the number of waypoints in the route, so I do not recommend trying to automatically route the entire trip from Tampa to Pittsburg in a single route. Instead, break it down into segments that you can cover in a day or 2, and save them individually as routes. Creating an autoroute can be as simple as long-pressing on your starting point and selecting Build Route from the popup menu. Then pan the chart to your destination, long-press again, and select AutoRoute to Here. Before you can use automatic routing you do need to setup some basic parameters about your boat in the Vessel Settings menu. Go to Home...Settings...Boat Details to set up your boat's height, width and draft. Our most recent Raymarine Live episode had another segment on automatic routing. You can see it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoXQfnqMoZp4jZI This link jumps right to that segment in the show.

Hi Jim- I'm running a full compliment of RM sailing instruments through 2 Axiom plotters. Have really enjoyed the new sailing upgraded features. The plotters started acting up shortly after installing a remote Smart Controller (w required converter). I've updated all instruments via online only to get error messages for the plotters. One plotter reports "not sufficient space", the other reports "failed to start". I've even tried factory reset before updating only to receive the same messages. Both plotters "work" but don't show the recent sailing features. One plotter drops numeral sixes behind the boat's icon as it travels over the screen. Really! Any advice?
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
Hello Jim. In order for Axiom to complete a software update there needs to be sufficient space in its internal or microSD memory storage space for it to unpack the software update before installation. 1st generation Axiom displays have a bit less built-in memory than the newer Axiom+ models, so are more susceptible to being full enough that they can't perform a software update using only their built-in storage. They will instead temporarily use a small portion of the empty space on the microSD card that is installed in the unit to perform those needed installation tasks, and then remove those files at the end of the process. In your case you'll want to make sure there is a microSD card plugged into both of your Axiom displays to give them that extra space. Any card 8GB or larger will be sufficient, and I suggest just leaving it installed in any display that does not already have a chart plugged into it. That will prevent this kind of issue during future updates. When updating, if the only microSD card plugged in happens to me a map card, Axiom will use some of the empty space on it if there is enough. If you are not comfortable with it doing that, you can temporarily eject the map card, replace it with another microSD of suitable size, perform the update, and then swap cards back at the end.

I want to auto route from my dock to Saint Augustine, but there is a low bridge in between. What do I do, make one route to the bridge and another to Saint Augustine?
@Raymarine2 жыл бұрын
The automatic auto-routing for Navionics charts actually does not take into account vessel height in its calculations. In theory you could probably do it all in 1 route and it would take you right through there. Since you know that bridge is an issue though, suggest breaking it into 2 parts. Route from your dock to the bridge (or wherever you are going to bypass it) and then create a new auto route from the other side of the bridge to your destination. I strongly suggest pulling down our LightHouse Advanced Operation Manual and reading the section on automatic routing. It is very important to understand which parameters it observes, and which it does not. Here is an excerpt from it: Autoroute - compatible cartography vendors The Autoroute feature is compatible with the following cartography vendor features. • Navionics® Autorouting. • Navionics® Dock-to-dock • C-MAP® Easy Routing Differences between automatic route generation functions There are important differences between the way different vendors handle automatic route generation. Depth clearances (Tidal height) • Navionics® Autorouting and Dock-to-dock avoids shallow areas based on the user defined [Minimum safe depth] setting plus an additional Navionics® safety margin. it assumes the lowest tide level, normally Lowest Astronomical Tide (LAT). The tide can be lower than LAT due to atmospheric effects such as high air pressure, wind direction, etc. • C-MAP® Easy Routing assumes that there will be some tide. The user must apply their own safety margin as appropriate to current conditions. Route legs that cross areas shallower than the user defined [Minimum safe depth] setting are marked with hazard waypoint symbols, it is critical that these legs are checked to ensure that there is sufficient tide to avoid the hazard. Width & Height clearances • Navionics® Autorouting and Dock-to-dock does not use the user defined [Minimum safe width] or [Minimum safe height] settings when generating routes. Objects with width / height constraints are marked with hazard waypoint symbols, it is critical that these legs are checked to ensure that there is sufficient clearance to avoid the hazard. • C-MAP® Easy Routing uses the user defined [Minimum safe width] and [Minimum safe height] settings to determine if sufficient clearance is available. The user must apply their own safety margin as appropriate to current conditions. The Height datum must be checked, as it could be Mean High Water Springs (MHWS) or Highest Astronomical Tide (HAT). In both cases the tide can be higher than the datum due to atmospheric effects such as high air pressure, wind direction, etc. Reviewing an automatically generated route Before following any route you must ensure that it is safe to do so. Upon Route completion: 1. Range in on each route leg and waypoint that make up the Route. 2. Check either side of the route leg and around the waypoint for any possible obstructions. Obstructions can be charted objects or restricted areas. Routes generated automatically should use the caution waypoint symbol in areas where there are possible obstructions. 3. Where obstructions exist move the necessary waypoints so that the waypoint and route leg is no longer obstructed. The latest LightHouse 4.1 Advanced Operation Manual is always available as a free download on Raymarine.com in our Manuals and Documents section: raymarine.app.box.com/s/3t839g2xf6nko4n0h9re535140rknnpz/folder/21066102633 The automatic routing starts on page 125.

@Raymarine2 жыл бұрын
Hello Robert. Axiom keeps track of total distance traveled, and also offers multiple resettable trip logs. If you go to Home....My Data....Fuel/Trip you will see them reported there. Axiom tracks a manual (resettable) trip log, distance for that day, distance for the month, and and distance for the season (resettable.) I don't see a way to go back and get numbers for a particular day though. I'll ask our software team about it and see if there is a way to do it I don't know about, or if it could be added as a future feature if we don't have it in there.

Hi Bobby. We released a new handbook for LightHouse version 4.0. Its available on Raymarine.com here: www.raymarine.com/service-and-support/manuals-and-documents/ There is a summary of new software features on page 22. Typically, we release a new version in PDF format with every software updated. The tide and current icons can be switched on or off on your MFD. The quickest way to see them is to put the chartplotter into "Tides" mode. In the chart app touch Menu....Mode....and select Tides. This simplifies the overall chart and turns on all of the tide and current reporting stations. Long-press on any one to see the detailed report and graph for that station. If you want to see the tide and current station icons all the time go to Menu...Settings...Layers and turn on the switch for Tides.

Touch it, then choose Check Online, and then you'll have a popup for Wi-Fi Settings. Touch it, choose your home network and enter the password. Once Axiom connects close the Wi-Fi menu and then touch START. Axiom will connect to our server, look for updates, and present a list of what is available. By default there will be a check-mark next to any items needing updating. Touch the UPDATE button to proceed. It takes Axiom about 10 minutes or so to update itself on a fast Wi-Fi connection. Confirmed. Technically, all routes plotted into your chartplotter and navigated by GPS are treated as great-circle routes. At short distances you won't see the difference in the plot, or any discernible difference in the length of the route. On route legs at significant distances, you can see them plotted as great circles on the chart display when zoomed out.

I'm having difficulty getting my "Boat Details" entered into my Axiom Pro. Particular the names and numbers of tanks. In the Lighthouse 3 manual on page87 it shows tanks named Gas 1. My Boston Whaler only has one tank, when the dealer installed my Axiom Pro he put in 2 tanks. How do I get boat details to show one tank named "Gas 1" with a capacity of 58 gallons? All other parts of the Boat Details seems to work OK
@Raymarine2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim. If the number of tanks are off, you might need to reset the display and run the startup wizard again. Go to Home...Settings....This Display....and select Factory Reset at the bottom. The wizard will run after it restarts. Something important to know on tanks is that our system differentiates between "Fuel" and "Gasoline" tanks. Fuel tanks can be designated as Propulsive or Non-Propulsive. Propulsive fuel tanks are counted towards fuel economy calculations. Non-Propulsive are not. Also, tanks designated specifically as Gasoline are not counted in fuel economy calculations. We do this to make accommodations for boats that have dedicated tanks for generators vs. propulsion, or for boats that have both diesel and gasoline tanks. Can you show or tell me how to find the steer line showing on and off course for steering the boat to a waypoint manually ?
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hello David. I think you might be looking for the "rolling road" display, which is part of the Dashboard app. When you have a waypoint in-track, open the Dashboard app and you'll see a navigation page with a visualization of a road. Your waypoint is ahead, on the horizon, and the boat's position in the lane is representative of your cross track error.

I have a new Axiom Lighthouse 3 and would like to activate my 1 year Navionics subscription. Can I do this from the MFD on the boat? It is connected to the marina 5G internet
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
There are 2 ways to activate your 1-year Navionics subscription. If you have the Navionics boating app already on your Smartphone or tablet, you can connect it to the Wi-Fi access point on your Axiom screen and the app can detect, activate and update your chart card. To do this you do need to be running a paid version of their app with an active subscription on the app. This is a seperate subscription from what is included with your map card. The other way to do it is to unplug the Navionics map from Axiom and plug it into a computer with internet access. Navigate to navionic.com, click the link on the top of their site (My Card...Activate/Renew) and follow the prompts to create a Navionics account, install their updater app, and then it will update and activate the card.

How can I add a speaker to my MFD to hear the audio functions from my apps or warning alarms?
@Raymarine2 жыл бұрын
Hello Nick. There are a couple of ways to add louder audio for apps and warnings. If you have a Bluetooth audio system onboard you can connect Axiom's audio to it and hear it there. This could be your boat's stereo system or even a simple stand-alone portable Bluetooth speaker. Put your speaker into pairing mode, then go to Axiom's home screen. On the top right corner tap the row of icons and select Bluetooth Settings from the menu that pops up. Turn on the Bluetooth radio in Axiom if its not already on, and then it will display a list of nearby detected devices. Select your speaker and allow it to connect. You can then exit by touching the "0" button at the bottom center of the screen. Give your power button a quick tap or swipe and a shortcut menu appears. When Axiom is connected to Bluetooth, you'll see 2 volume sliders in here. One is for Apps that have audio (like Netflix or Spotify) and the other slider is for Axiom's alerts and alarms. Adjust them to your desired level. If you don't want to rely solely on Bluetooth, we also make an external alarm module that connects to your SeaTalk NG network. It repeats alarms generated by Axiom and other devices like instruments, AIS, autopilot, etc. This device is part number A80614. This will only do system alarms, but not app audio. This alarm is VERY loud, be warned!

Where do I find tidal info on an Axiom 9? In particular tidal curves. I am running Lighthouse 4 and a Raymarine chart of Western Europe. Cheers Bob
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
Hello Bob. The easiest way to see tide heights and current speed is to turn on "Tides" mode in your chartplotter app. Open the chart and go to Menu...Mode...Tides. In this mode some of the chart details are temporarily hidden, but the tide and current stations become much more prevalent. Each tide station will show a graph with the current hight of the tide at that location. Current stations will show an arrow for the direction of flow, along with the current speed. There are animation controls along the top and bottom of the screen you can use to see how things will play out over time. There is also a button where you can specify a particular date in the future if you are planning for an upcoming voyage. You can exit out of Tides mode at anytime by going back to Menu...Mode...Navigate. You can also see tide and current information while in the standard navigation chart. Long-press on the chart in the area you want to search. From the popup menu select More Options....Find Nearest....Tides. The system will return a list of nearby tide stations sorted from closest to farthest. Touch on any station to see the details and graph.

@@Raymarine thanks for the reply. Great Webinar, just a side note when reading manual for Freemantle its says Navionics does not take boat height and width into consideration in autoroute. Please confirm
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hello Jeff. Thank you for pointing this out! You are correct that the Navionics Dock to Dock autorouting algorithm does not take into account the boat's height or width (beam.) Instead, it marks the auto-generated waypoints plotted near bridges or narrows with exclamation points to draw attention to them. We also support C-MAP Easy Routing on Axiom. The C-MAP algorithm does take into account vessel height and width in its calculation. For the benefit of anyone reading this comment, here is the official details from the LightHouse 3.14 Fremantle Handbook. Sorry for the long post, but it is worth a read: Autoroute - compatible cartography vendors The Autoroute feature is compatible with the following cartography vendor features. • Navionics® Autorouting. • Navionics® Dock-to-dock • C-MAP® Easy Routing Differences between automatic route generation functions There are important differences between the way different vendors handle automatic route generation. Depth clearances (Tidal height) • Navionics® Autorouting and Dock-to-dock avoids shallow areas based on the user defined Minimum safe depth setting plus an additional Navionics® safety margin. it assumes the lowest tide level, normally Lowest Astronomical Tide (LAT). The tide can be lower than LAT due to atmospheric effects such as high air pressure, wind direction, etc. • C-MAP® Easy Routing assumes that there will be some tide. The user must apply their own safety margin as appropriate to current conditions. Route legs that cross areas shallower than the user defined Minimum safe depth setting are marked with hazard waypoint symbols, it is critical that these legs are checked to ensure that there is sufficient tide to avoid the hazard. Width & Height clearances • Navionics® Autorouting and Dock-to-dock does not use the user defined Minimum safe width or Minimum safe height settings when generating routes. Objects with width / height constraints are marked with hazard waypoint symbols, it is critical that these legs are checked to ensure that there is sufficient clearance to avoid the hazard. • C-MAP® Easy Routing uses the user defined Minimum safe width and Minimum safe height settings to determine if sufficient clearance is available.

Hi Jim, Can you please let me know how to fix the problem with fishing zone setting. The fishing zone option is in grey not adjustable on my raymarine axiom 12 rv. Thanks a lot.
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
You probably need to activate or renew your Navionics Freshest Data subscription. Fishing Zone, along with auto-routing, shallow water shading, PlotterSync, SonarChart Live and some other features are subscription-based items that are locked or unlocked by your charts. When you purchase a Raymarine display with Navionics included, or purchase Navionics chart individually from a dealer, a 1-year subscription is included. To activate it you'll need to plug your chart into your computer connected to the internet and visit Navionics.com. On their homepage there is a link on the top..My Card...Activate/Renew. Click the link and follow their instructions to install their Chart Installer app and activate your subscription. If you previously activated it and your year has run out they will offer you the option to renew your subscription. It costs $99 and allows you to update your charts with the latest data (they actually change daily) plus use their advanced features. Axiom checks to see if your subscription is active or not and locks or unlocks those Navionics-specific features. There are 2 places you can normally see it. On the homepage touch the Settings icon. On the first tab "Getting Started" your Navionics subscription status is indicated there. You can also check it in the Chart app. Touch Menu....Settings...and the first tab that appears is "Cartography" and you'll see your Navionics card below in the list of available charts. The title information there includes the activation status and expiration date.

Hi Dondo. We do hope to have an Element-focused stream in the next few weeks. In the mean time, I do suggest slowing down the scroll speed on your Element system. I am a kayaker too, with Element. I find the slower scroll speed delivers even sharper imagery. I also strongly suggest experimenting with some of the alternative color palettes offered on the system. Personally, I find that the ones with a white or light gray background are much easier to see all-around, and often give better contrast to the targets in the water.

There is a single "Network" port on the back of your Axiom. That is your RayNet high speed Ethernet connection. You can connect directly from that port to another RayNet device like a radar scanner, another Axiom, sonar module, SiriusXM receiver, etc. If you have more than one device you need to connect to, you'll need to add a network switch to create more network ports. Our RNS-5 or RNS-8 network switches give you either 5 or 8 ports, respectively, to accommodate additional Axiom displays, sensors, scanners, and accessories.

Hello Jeff. I suggest updating your software to make sure Axiom is running the latest version. Currently, version 4.6 is the most current. You can download it from Raymarine.com to a microSD card and install it that way, or, if you have internet access onboard Axiom can update itself. Go to Home..Settings...Software Update...Update Online. Your system might also benefit from a factory reset. There is a memory buffer inside Axiom that it uses for various functions. There might be some corrupted or old junk information in the buffer causing the slowdown. If you have waypoints and routes you want to keep you can back them up before resetting. Go to Home...My Data...Import/Export...and use the "Save My Data" button to create backups on your map or memory card. Once you have backed up, go to Home...Settings...This Display. Factory Reset is on the bottom. Once Axiom restarts you can restore your data in that same Import/Export menu using the Import from Card function.

Touch Demo Profiles, then select what kind of boat setup you would like for it to simulate. Axiom will come up in simulation mode with a stream of fictitious, but realistic data. If you need to work on the chartplotter and want to move the simulated boat icon, simply scroll to where you want the boat to be, long press on the chart, and in the popup menu select More....Move Boat Icon Here. Hello; I have been a Garmin user the last 18 years, but now bought a new boat which had Raymarine stuff installed beforehand. One thing that was missing though, was the VHF radio. Equipment in the boat: MFD Axiom Pro RealVision 12.1" Autopilot EV200 Echosounder CPT 120 CHIRP Radar Quantum II Doppler Q24D Impressing set up I have to admit.. But I'm missing one function, that is the possibility to make a direct call with the VHF from touching the AIS symbol on the plotter, select call in the scroll down menu, and the VHF automatically gets the MMSI nbr without me having to put it in there. This is a very good function in the Garmin system, that I really will miss with the Raymarine system. I've now investigated with experts here in Sweden and i does not makes any difference which VHF i choose. I will not get the wanted function regardless of which VHF i choose. So, I'm going for a RAY73 which have the AIS integrated and communicates this to the plotter.

With two axioms in a master/slave config, can you have the chart card in the master slot and have the data card in the slave slot so that when yo save data it goes to the slave card
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
You can have map cards and data cards in all of the slots. Map cards are shared between all displays. You can access any map from any screen. This allows you to run more than one brand of mapping if you want to. For example you might want Navionics or C-MAP for navigation and then a specialty chart like CMOR or StrikeLines for enhanced fishing detail. On each MFD you can also specify to where any screen captures, video recordings, chart sounding recordings, etc. are saved.

How come the lat/long coordinates minutes have the ' symbol before the decimal, rather than at the end?
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Our Axiom displays support many different display formats for latitude and longitude. Depending on which format you choose, the symbols change just slightly. From the Home screen go to Settings...Units...Lat/Long format to see the different options. The example you asked about is latitude/longitude rendered as DD°MM'SS where the position is reading as Degrees, Minutes and Seconds. Depending on what you are doing, and also what other navigational tools you are interacting with, you may prefer to display it differently. We support all of the major variations including whole minutes, decimal minutes, while seconds, decimal seconds, etc.

Jim, When you do an auto route or a route, do you "burn" thru your waypoints? Or it gives them back to you when you delete the auto route.
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Whenever you delete a route (automatic or manually created) it asks if you like to delete the the route alone, or the route and the waypoints that make it up. As long as you delete the route and its waypoints, you get that storage back. We give you the option because its possible that you might have some key waypoints saved that get used in more than 1 route (if manually created.) For example the route out of your particular dock or marina might be common to several routes, that then head off in different directions once you get out of your harbor.

We have installed an airmar ust800 transducer and have Raymarine axiom system with I70s. We can’t get accurate readings and are told by airmar that we need to calibrate it with a garmin. Which is ridiculous. How can we get this to work correctly?
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
There is a multi-point calibration option available in your i70s display that allows you to create up to 8 calibration points. You'll perform a speed run that compares speed through water against speed over ground at 8 different boat speeds. You should be able to get a very accurate reading using this system. I'll past in the procedure here, but you can also find it on page 29 of the i70s instrument handbook. A PDF version is available on Raymarine.com in the support section if you don't have a copy handy. Performing a Speed Run Calibration using SOG If a higher level of precision is required than that achieved with the 1 Point Speed Calibration procedure, a Speed Run Calibration should be performed. The Speed Run Calibration will ensure that the Log Speed reading is accurate over the vessel’s full speed range. Prerequisites: • SOG data must be available. • You will need to be underway, with sufficient space to maneuver unhindered. • In order to achieve accurate results, water conditions must be calm with zero tide and zero current The steps below detail the method of calibrating speed transducers connected using an iTC-5 or smart transducers (e.g.: DST800). With a Favorite page displayed: 1. Press the Menu button. 2. Select Set-up. 3. Select Transducers Set-up. 4. Select Continue. The display will search for and show a list of connected devices. (i.e. iTC-5 or DST) 5. Select the device that the transducer you are calibrating is connected to. A list of available transducer data is displayed. 6. (1)Select Speed. 7. Select Speed Calibration. 8. Select New cal using SOG. You will need to add calibration points at a range of speeds spanning the full speed range of the vessel. Conventional transducers can have up to 5 calibration points and smart transducers can have up to 8. Ideally the calibration points should be taken at regular increments throughout the speed range with the last calibration point being close to the vessel’s top speed. With the Speed Transducer connected to a Speed Pod the 5 calibration points are fixed in sequence at 2, 4, 8, 16 and 32 knots. When adding calibration points during the Speed Run Calibration ensure vessel speed is as close to the fixed calibration point speeds as possible, as the calibration factor applied will be the difference between the actual vessel speed and the fixed calibration point speed. 9. Select Start. 10. Ensure the vessel’s speed is steady at your first calibration point speed and select Add. 11. Repeat step 10 for all remaining calibration points, ensuring that the calibration points are equally spaced throughout your vessel’s speed range from stationary to top speed. Once all calibration points have been successfully added the Calibration complete message is displayed. 12. Select OK.
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
I'll also add, there is something new coming in LightHouse 4.5 (next month) that will help with this too. It is a new calibration procedure that will be a bit easier than what i pasted below. It will be performed from your Axiom display to calibrate the transducer.

I’m having a problem with my bow icon it’s in the safety setting I chose the right one but it shows on my screen only a round dot any ideas why
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
When you are stationary the GPS system can't tell what direction the boat is pointed at, so it shows your position as a dot instead. When you start moving the GPS can begin calculating your course over ground (COG) and it then changes the icon from a dot to the boat shape. If you want to see the icon displayed all the time you can add an electronics compass, heading sensor or autopilot to your boat. Those devices provide constant heading signal to the chartplotter.

Hello! Where can I obtain an owners manual for Axiom, Lighthouse version 3?
@Raymarine11 ай бұрын
Hello Kelly. LightHouse 3 manuals for Axiom are available online here: raymarine.app.box.com/s/rvhycb6x1brzo64921k5tsqwv2ica3j6/folder/199835371463 We generally issue a new handbook with each software release. In that folder you'll see quite a few past versions. If you're not sure which version of LightHouse 3 your system is at touch on Home...Settings...and the software version is reported on that first tab.

Great overview of all the basic functions. Great series! I notice that all of the views you showed are a standard birds eye view with paper map style display. Are there different views available while following a route?
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
We currently only support the Birds-eye view on our systems, though there are options that will change it up slightly. You can offset the display 1/3 or 2/3 to give you more look-ahead. You can also adjust the visible layering on the chart to add or remove satellite photo overlay, radar overlay and other elements. I'll be showing off many of those features in an upcoming broadcast.

Can auto route work in conjunction with wind for tacking on sailboats
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hello Anthony. The automatic routing uses the boat's key parameters (height, depth, beam) and the navigation data on the chart to build a safe route. Unfortunately it doesn't take into account wind or current data.

Hi just wondering if a Raymarine M92650-S radar will work with an E90W MFD?
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
That combination won't work, unfortunately. The M92650-S radar scanner is a 2kW radar with an analog radar connection. It works with older Pathfinder-series and C-Series Classic screens. The E90W MFD requires a digital radar scanner like our RD418D, RD424D, RD418HD, or RD424HD. You can see them here: www.raymarine.com/view/index-id=309.html

Can I autoroute to a specific waypoint from my boat position by going to the waypoint list and selecting that waypoint instead of going to the chart and finding the waypoint on the map and then clicking it? Also, can I save a route created from autorouting to my routes list but remove it from the map chart when I’m not using it? The large number of waypoints makes everything cluttered.
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hello Yianni. Yes, you can autoroute to a waypoint in your waypoint list. While in the chart application go to Menu...Waypoints, Routes, Tracks....and select Waypoints. Find the waypoint you want to navigate to in the panel on the left, and select View Waypoint Details...View On Chart...and then finally long-press on it and select Autoroute to. Its alot of steps, but it does do the work of finding the waypoint for you, rather than having to search all over the chart for it yourself. Autoroutes can be saved, and they can be hidden when not being used like other waypoints or routes. Routes can be individually set to be hidden or shown on the chart through the Route Details menu. From the same menu above, or from the homescreen, look at your list of routes. Select any one and then choose Route Details. You'll see a selection for hide on chart. Similarly you can choose to show or hide groups of waypoints. When you initially go into the waypoint list is is showing waypoints by groups, with the default being ALL Waypoints, TODAYS WAYPOINTS and UNSORTED. If you select any group you'll see a toggle for Show/Hide. Any waypoints in that group not actively being used for navigation as a single destination or part of a route can be hidden in bulk.

Hi Jim I love your helpful videos and sessions it is very helpful. Q.- I have updated my Navionics card and have used their online chart viewer program to make some new routes. I have a Axiom 9 Pro and want to know how to upload those new routes onto my Axiom data? I have installed the card into #1 slot but for some reason its not showing on current list of routes, only last years? What steps do I need to take to find or upload those new routes to navigate to? Thanks Greg
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hi Greg. If you link your mobile device (phone or tablet) to the Wi-Fi access point on your Axiom the Navionics Boating App should sync your waypoints and routes wirelessly. You'll find the menu to setup Wi-Fi on your Axiom in the Settings menu (on the home screen) then go to the "This Display" tab. Once you have the Wi-Fi access turned on, you'll connect your mobile device to that network and launch the Navionics app. Typically it will detect the Axiom MFD and popup a message indicating it wants to sync. The sync happens very quickly.

How do I load the Navionics maps rather than the standard maps?
@Raymarine2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike. Navionics charts come on microSD memory cards and are plugged into the card reader on your Axiom. You the select them in Axiom's Chart app by touching Menu....Settings....and selecting the chart title on the Cartography tab. If your Axiom model has more than one card reader, or you have more than one Axiom networked together, it is possible to use more than one type of map at the same time, as mapping is shared between units.

When I delete a route generated from autorouting, the final destination waypoint that I have saved as one of my fishing spots is deleted along with the other waypoints in the route. Is it possible to delete the autoroute and all the auto generated navigational waypoints but not my saved destination waypoint without having to manually delete each navigational waypoint in the route? Also, when an autoroute is generated, all the navigational waypoints are automatically placed in my custom waypoint group that I have made and reserved for specific fishing spots and locations. Is there any way I can prevent this from happening?
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hello Yianni. When deleting a route the system gives you the option to delete the route alone (delete the legs, but leave the waypoints) or to delete the route and all of its associated waypoints. I suspect you are long-pressing on your saved waypoint and then saying "autoroute to here" which is what is then associating that waypoint with the route being created. When you delete it, and choose to delete the waypoints, your special waypoint is deleted too.. The best work-around I can suggest is to not press exactly on your saved waypoint, but just slightly to the side of it. That will essentially create a new waypoint in the same vicinity that it is routing to. New waypoints, generated manually or by autorouting, are assigned to whatever waypoint group was last used when a waypoint was created and assigned.

When auto routing and you have established out route how do you start the route and stop at end of route.
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe. After the auto-route is generated the system will ask if you want to follow it. Or, you can simply long press on any leg of the route and the popup menu will give you the option to follow it (if you aren't already) or stop following (if you are.)

Can you show the complete system and it’s all connected peripherals
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve. We'll try to get a "system builder" type of episode in a future episode. You can find some examples in our Networking section here: www.raymarine.com/view/index-id=3011.html Another good resource is the installation guide for the Axiom MFDs. There are some sample diagrams in there showing the MFDs and peripherals.

Hi! Are the WiFi and HS networks connected through the Axiom? The radar works on either network, would any device work as well? Thanks
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
The Quantum radar can be connected over Wi-Fi, or a wired connection and is shared across all Axiom displays with either connection type. Other peripherals though must be connected to the wired RayNet Ethernet network. This includes things like any other radar scanners (beyond Quantum or Quantum 2), sonar modules, cameras, FLIR, weather receivers or other Axiom MFDs. Peripherals beyond Quantum are not shared wirelessly.

When I download Navion on my cell phone, how do I pair my cell phone with the axiom screen?
@Raymarine10 ай бұрын
On your Axiom go to Home...Settings...This Display and scroll down to the Wi-Fi Sharing section. There you can setup the Wi-Fi hotspot in Axiom to make it visible to your phone. Touch the Configure button next to Wi-Fi Settings and there you can set the network name (SSID) and password. Next, go to your phone's Wi-Fi settings and connect to the network you just created. Once connected, launch the Navionics app on your device. It will detect that it is connected to Axiom and prompt about syncing data and updating charts.

How do you switch between saltwater and freshwater profiles? I accidentally set the skipper to freshwater and would like it to be set for saltwater
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hi PMOA. It sounds like you might have the Freshwater simulation running. Go to the home-screen and touch the profile that says FRESHWATER FISHING. The interface that appears lets you choose a different user profile or to activate one of the onboard simulation modes. You'll see 2 tabs here: My Profiles, and Demo Profiles. My Profiles are live profiles that are connected to your live GPS, sonar, radar, etc. The idea behind them is you could have different profiles for different people who operate your boat. You can have all of your settings and preferences saved in your profile. When Mrs. PMOA is driving the boat, she could switch to her profile, and Axiom switches instantly to her save profile and preferences. The default profile is called SKIPPER, but you can actually change the name and icon associated with it by touching it. You can create more profiles too for additional users of your boat. Demo Profiles are different iterations of our built-in simulation that are used for practicing offline with your MFD. We also use the simulation at boat shows, dealership displays, store displays, and its what i use in the studio since I can't be on a boat with live instrumentation and sensors. You'll see options for General, Sailing, Cruising, Saltwater Fishing and Freshwater Fishing. Each has a sample screen layout that has been tailored to match the typical accessories used on each kind of boat.

How do I get SOG on my screen and not on the pullout ?
@Raymarine8 ай бұрын
Hi Jerry. Each individual page on Axiom can have 4 floating data items. The data items can be moved anywhere on screen and resized for best fit and visibility. Its also important to note that each page's floating data items are unique and they are configured on a per-page basis. This allows you to show different items on different pages. For example you might want to see water temperature on your fish finder, but not on your radar. The process to add a floating data item is the same regardless of the page. Touch Menu...Settings...Page Settings and then select Edit Data Overlays. The screen will be slightly greyed out, and at the top will be buttons for Add... and Done. Touch Add. The menu that appears is the data manager. Data is categorized into groups to make it easier to find. Since Speed Over Ground comes from your GPS receiver, touch the group called GPS...and inside there, at the bottom, will be Speed over Ground (SOG). Touch to add it to the screen. Now, touch and drag it to move it wherever you want it to sit. If you tap it briefly, a menu pops up with options to Edit, Move, Resize or Delete. Touch Resize, and choose what size you prefer. You can drag it with your finger if you need to adjust where it sits after resizing to fine-tune things. When you are happy, either press ADD to add another item to the screen, or DONE to save and exit.

Hello Andy. Believe it or not, distance to final destination is a new addition to the data library on Axiom. Please update your software to the latest version (LightHouse 4.6) and you will find it in there. In the data menu where you can select items for databoxes, overlays, etc. it is in the Navigation category as "Distance to Go." This piece of live information has not been available until now.

Hi Jeffrey. You can add up to 4 floating databox items on any screen, or, you can also display SOG on the slide-out databar on the right side of the screen. Its one of the default items pre-programmed on Databar 1. Swipe from left to right at the left edge of your Axiom display to see it. I will demonstrate how to edit these fields, and create floating databoxes again in tonight's episode.
