Hi Jim... question for you. If I want to run an hdmi from my 19 XL from the flybridge units down to the salon and connect to my PC to monitor everytHIng going on (as touchscreen PC can I flip around and check everything, sonar, Radar etc and will I then change whats being seen upstairs?). Is there a maximum length cable for that to not lose quality and signal? Also how about the software or the PC will just be an external monitor. Thanks for the info
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
Hello Phil. 50-feet is generally considered to be the maximum "reliable" length for an HDMI cable. If you need to go longer than that you'd might want to consider some kind of 3rd party active HDMI amplifier. Those types of devices are commonly used in bars and restaurants when they are feeding TVs all over from a common source. You can run anything you want on your PC with regard to software. The Axiom XL in this case is just acting as a monitor. Note, if you run a long USB cable from your Axiom XL back to that PC, you can also touch control the PC from the Axiom XL.

I’ve just installed an Axiom 9+ and installed a converter backbone connected to my old ST60 instruments. How do I view the ST60 (wind, speed, log) info on the Axiom please? Many thanks Bob
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
Hello Bob. The converter takes care of all the data translation for you. The data from your ST60 instruments feeds into Axiom's data boxes, data sidebars and dashboard application. You can customize any of those locations to show you things like depth, speed, wind, etc. For cells in the dashboard app or sidebar, long-press and select Edit, then select the data you want to see from the data menu that appears. You can add floating data items on any page by going to Menu...Settings...Page Settings...Edit Data Overlays.

When I turn on SonarChart Live and/or Community Edits (can’t remember which one) a red circle appears around the boat icon. It’s very distracting during navigation. What is that and how can I remove it while keeping sonarchart and/or community edits on? Also, I noticed that the fishing chart layer in my chart is very plain and simple and doesn’t show me the specific contour lines I need to see for fishing. I do have an active navionics card equipped with sonar charts and community edits. Are there any layers/settings that I should activate on my axiom or is it a navionics chip/chart issue?
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hello Yiani. Thanks for watching! I'm not certain what the red circle you are seeing is. I will try to get my live system fired up today so I can investigate that one a bit further and I'll report back here. There is another red circle that could be enabled, but its not related to Sonar Chart Live or Community edits. It defines the safety zone around your boat for collision avoidance alarms from radar or AIS contacts. You can control that in the Targets menu in the chart app. The Navionics Bathymetric Chart (fishing chart) might need to be downloaded to your map card. In the interest of giving you as much navigation map area as possible, and to conserve storage space on the Navionics+ level cards, they leave off the bathymetric chart and allow you to add it when you update the chart on Navionics.com. I suspect that is why you are missing it. Plug your card into a computer, visit Navionics.com and choose the link on the top of their site to Activate/Update your card. The Chart Updater tool will allow you to add the SonarCharts layer to your existing map in the area you define.

Hi Nigel. The radar guard zone can be shown on the radar display only. Strangely, it looks like the guard zones can be turned on or off from the chart application if you are displaying radar overlay, but the boundaries of the zones themselves are not displayed on the chart. Hi! I have an ais700, an ev100 autopilot both conected via nma2000 to an axiom 9RV . When I go to config and see all the equipment conected I see all of them but when I go to selct source to the gps on the axiom the only source that I can put on manual Is the Internal gps. Wasn t I supposed to se de ga200 gps reciever that comes With the ais700 or the autopilot GPS in that list? Is there something I must do to see those device? Thanks in Advance!
@RaymarineАй бұрын
The GPS in the AIS700 is not shared across the network. As is required by the international regulations governing Class B AIS devices it is used internally by the AIS transceiver, giving the AIS system a position source that is independent of the boat's other systems. Through the Pro AIS software that comes with the AIS700 it is possible to enable the output of GPS/GNSS information over the AIS700's NMEA 0183 connections however this is intended for diagnostic and troubleshooting purposes only. This warning info is provided in the AIS700 installation guide: Important: The AIS unit has its own GNSS (GPS) receiver. This GPS data can be multiplexed with the AIS data and output on the high speed (38,400) NMEA 0183 output. However, this feature is intended for diagnostic and troubleshooting purposes only. To prevent potential GPS data conflicts or loops and / or performance issues, the AIS unit’s internal GPS receiver is intended to provide GPS data to the AIS unit only. Therefore, the AIS unit’s GNSS (GPS) receiver should NOT be used to provide GNSS (GPS) data to multifunction displays or any other external device. The Evolution autopilot does not have its own built-in GPS sensor. Its EV1 or EV2 sensor core unit (the round puck-like sensor) is both the course computer (brain) for the autopilot, and it contains the pilot's heading sensor and gyro sensors. GPS is not required for the autopilot to function, but enhances its capabilities when it is present. It picks up GPS data from the SeaTalk NG network from the Axiom's internal GPS sensor, or from another network-connected GPS.

There is a Navionics chart feature that will let you do exactly that. In your chart application go to Menu....Settings (the gears icon at the bottom) and then select the Depths tab. Scroll down to "Shallow Depth Shading." When this setting is set to On, a reddish overlay is displayed on the chart in all areas shallower than the depth you specify. It would help immensely. Thanks for your time!
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hello Mike. What he is describing sounds to me like maybe they had the Augmented Reality layer turned on if the thermal camera is interfaced to a Raymarine Axiom MFD. You can overlay your nearby waypoints onto the camera image. As you pan, tilt, or zoom the camera the waypoints always show up in their correct location in the camera's field of view. You can also overlay AIS targets and nearby navigation aids like buoys, markers, etc. Assuming you are on an Axiom MFD, while looking at your FLIR camera feed touch Menu....Settings.....ClearCruise and turn on the ClearCruise augmented reality. There are settings there to enable or disable waypoints, AIS targets and chart objects. You can also choose what map source is feeding the chart objects (Navionics, C-MAP, or LightHouse Charts.) While you are looking at the live image with AR enabled, there are some quick controls on the screen to allow you to rapidly turn on or off the layers. 3 icons across the bottom are for waypoints, chart objects and AIS. On the bottom right is a range selector. This allows you to constrain how far away it will display AR objects. In a busy harbor or congested waterway you'll probably set that range shorter so you don't see so many objects in the far distance. On open water you'll set it longer. Shoot me an email to james.mcgowan@raymarine.com when you have a moment.

Hello Jane. You are not seeing the LAYERS tab because your chartplotter's display mode is set to Simple display mode. The presents a very clear chart with very few extra layers. Open your chartplotter app, touch Menu....and you will see several options for its display mode including Simple, Detailed, Fishing, Anchor and maybe a few others. Please select Detailed mode. This gives you access to the full selection of options. You'll notice much more information on your charts as well. Now you can go to Menu...Settings...Layers...and you will see a toggle switch to turn the AIS layer on or off. You can also go to Menu....Targets....and you will see additional AIS options including the target list, AIS-related settings, and some collision avoidance tools as well.

@Raymarine2 жыл бұрын
Hello Mark. We now have an Anchor Drag alarm (which needs depth information as part of its setup) as well as a Position Drift alarm (which uses only GPS.) Got to the home screen and touch Alarms....Settings....and scroll down to find the Position Drift alarm. Set the desired alarm radius, then flip the alarm on. When you turn it on the GPS position of the boat becomes the center of the alarm radius. We re-worked the Anchor Drag alarm a couple of software versions ago to tie it in a bit more tightly with the best practices for anchoring. It uses water depth to help advise how much chain should be payed out for the location you are anchoring in.

You can switch between them pretty easily though as there is a selector panel there on the edge of the sidebar that lets you select Data 1, Data 2, Audio, Pilot, etc. The number of sidebars you'll see varies depending on the hardware present on your network. If you need to see more data than a single sidebar will allow, you can also add up to 4 more floating data boxes to any window. These are independent of the sidebar and can be placed anywhere on the screen. There are options to resize the data as well. Touch Menu...Settings....Page Settings...Edit Data Overlays...Add. The data options are organized in a tree structure by category. Once you get an item on-screen, touch it again for options to resize it. Drag to move it. Hello Phillip. Usually when we see this, it is because your boat's electronic compass is out of calibration. If you have an autopilot system, the compass is probably part of that system and the calibration/alignment would be done there. Hello Samuel. You can update your Axiom system either via Wi-Fi or from a card you have pre-downloaded. You will need to remove your map card temporarily if you are doing the upgrade from a card. When you plug the card in you should get a popup message about software being detected and then it will take you through the update process. If you are not seeing that popup here are a few things to check or try. First, do make sure the software file you downloaded is sitting in the root directory of the card (not in a folder of any kind) and it is not zipped up. You do need to unzip the file first or decompress them on the card. Occasionally I have seen an Axiom not read a freshly inserted card with software. Try power-cycling it and try again. It should read and perform the update.

One question: I live where the tide range is critical to my ability to use certain passages. On my old 435i I could pop u[ a page that not only gave high and low tide but a graph of the tide range and where we were. It also did the same with tidal currents, including the set. I found the little icon that shows the current state of tide, but is there a way to get the full graph of this information?

Hello Ted. I am glad you're liking your new Axiom 7. Yes, you can access a full graph of the day's tides by long-pressing on the "T" tide icon. A popup menu appears, Choose More Options.....Tide Station and the graph should appear. Axiom also has a "Tides" mode which displays the current state of the tide, and direction/speed of current at all reporting stations. That same long-press action on any station works in this mode too. Similarly, long pressing on a current reporting station will give you a graph for water flow.

I am so disappointed that the front screen does not show the total trip ETA, the randomly placed waypoint ETA has no value, not even the time of day, compared to my Garmin this seems to have brought me back 20 years. Also I am in buzzards bay where the direction of the current plays a very important role, the Garmin displayed this this information live but not on the Axiom.... I will install the Axiom down below and bring the Garmin back to the wheel.

Thanks for the comment. Total trip ETA as a databox item is something on our list to get into a future update. Current can be displayed on your Axiom's chart. Touch Menu...Layers...Tides. In Raymarine-speak "Tides" covers both tidal height as well as tide-generated currents. You should get tidal arrows at key locations on your chart. You definitely have some serious tidal flow there. I spent some time at the "Cape Cod College of Nautical Knowledge" back in the 1990's, right there on Taylor's Point. If you have trouble finding the tides, please feel free to email me at james.mcgowan@Raymarine.com.

This series is great, Well Done Jim. We have 2 x 12” Axioms coming for a sailboat. One question is how to integrate Predict Wind onto the map screen. Second question - using the Autopilot on the MDF. Can these be covered in a further Raymarine Live or refer me to other resouices?
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hi Stellar! Thanks for choosing Raymarine for the boat. The Predict Wind app runs on your MFD in much the same way it would run on your tablet or laptop. You'll find it on the homescreen in the Apps Menu. You actually log in using your existing Predict Wind username and password. One of our long-time ambassadors included some Predict Wind integration into one of her videos. Do give this one a look from Rebecca Childress over at the Sailing Brickhouse channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hnzFmKNvptuMnLs I expect we will be doing a broadcast on Autopilots shortly. I'll make sure to cover the MFD integration too. For the most part it is pretty straight forward. The pilot control needs to be enabled on your Axiom display. From the home screen touch SETTINGS and then select the Autopilot tab on the next screen. You'll see a button there to turn it on. Once enabled there you'll find options to change the pilot's response level, and perform setup and calibration. In normal operation there are a few places to access pilot controls. If you swipe the power button you'll see a button in the quick-launch menu that allows you to engage or disengage the pilot. From any application page (chart, radar, sonar, dashboard, etc.) swipe in from the left side of the screen to pull out the sidebar. There is an autopilot controller available on the sidebar too.

When I return from Radar to the chart screen, the chart is built on a white loading page. Which means that at night, with the plotter in night modes, there is a huge white flash, before the chart builds in night mode. I have to instruct the crew to look away. Yes, there is a moment during the initial generation of the Navionics chart where the base-layer is rendered, and it is white. Once it loads and fills in it shifts to its assigned night-mode colorization. In addition to using the night color palette you might also want to dim down the screen's LED backlight too. This will significantly reduce the flash, and it is set independent of the color palette. Our new LightHouse charts utilize a different, and newer chart engine that has many more colorization options. When they render in night mode they do not have a white base-layer so you don't get the same flash. Feel free to send me an email if you'd like to chat further about it. james.f.mcgowan@raymarine.com. Thanks for watching!

I have an es7 running Lighthouse III with a Quantum II radar, 3 i70 displays and an ACU400 series autopilot with an i70s controller. Will you be upgrading lighthouse for the es series MFD any further? If not, can I add an Axiom and keep the es as a secondary display and have the axiom as primary with the latest versions of lighthouse III?
@allaboutyachting3 жыл бұрын
Yes you can use your es as a slave display. It will display all the NMEA data from the Axiom.
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hello Yves. There won't be anymore LightHouse 3 releases coming for the eS-Series. The last update for them was LightHouse 3 Cannes, version 3.11. If you leave the eS-Series mixed in with Axiom displays, we recommend keeping all of them at version 3.11. If you want to upgrade the Axiom's beyond 3.11 you will want to disconnect the eS-Series from the RayNet Ethernet network and leave only connected via SeaTalk NG/NMEA2000. As you suggested, you can leave it in as a secondary/backup system.
@ylemoine13 жыл бұрын
@@Raymarine so, with a new Axiom running latest version of Lighthouse 3, it’s OK to have an eS connected to Seatalkng, just not to Raynet? Can the eS still be connected to the Quantum 2 through wifi or is that the same as being connected to Raynet? And, last question, if the eS can still be connected to the Quantum 3 via wifi, can the new Axiom also connect to the Quantum or do I have to decide on only one MFD for radar in this case?

How many types of axiom models we have
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
The basic Axiom models come in 7, 9 and 12-inch sizes. These are all-glass, touch only. Within this range there are 2 generations of units. First-generation are simply called Axiom, and second-generation are called Axiom+. There are some options within them with regard to built-in sonar capability. There is a suffix attached to the product name that denotes the sonar system. Axiom DV models (all 1st generation) have CHIRP DownVision sonar built in. Axiom RV models (1st and 2nd generation) have RealVision 3D sonar built in. Models without a suffix at all are "chartplotter" models without any built-in sonar. They can connect to another Axiom with sonar, to an external sonar module, or they can receive depth information from networked instruments. Axiom Pro is the middle tier of Axioms. These are 9, 12 and 16-inch screens with HybridTouch controls...touchscreen, as well as buttons, a rotary knob and trackpad. There are 2 generations of these as well. The originals are Axiom Pro. The latest are Axiom 2 Pro. All Axiom Pro and Axiom 2 Pro models have some level of built-in sonar. Axiom Pro-S models have a basic high frequency CHIRP sonar built in for depth finding, bottom detection and light fishing. Axiom Pro RVM models are designed for coastal and offshore fishing with both RealVision 3D and a powerful 1kW CHIRP fishing sonar built in. Axiom 2 Pro models come in -S (basic chirp sonar) or -RVM models with RealVision MAX. RealVision MAX is an improved version of RealVision 3D and it also retains the 1kW fishing sonar too. Axiom XL (1st generation) and Axiom 2 XL (2nd generation) displays are our largest models available in 16, 19, 22, and 24-inch sizes. These are all-glass displays, touch only, but you can use our RMK-10 keypad to add the buttons, rotary controls and trackpad if desired. Axiom XL and XL 2 screen have no sonar built in. You must always connect them to another Axiom with sonar, an external sonar module, or to a networked depth finder in order for them to display depth or fish-finding sonar. The Axiom XL and XL2 also have extensive multimedia capabilities like HDMI input and input, as well as touchscreen input and output.

Can the EV150 autopilot be programmed to follow waypoints? If so how?
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hello Nick. Yes it can. It can navigate to individual waypoints or to a route. If your EV150 is connected to an Axiom system, make sure you have the pilot integration enabled on Axiom. From the home screen to go Settings....Autopilot....and turn on Pilot Control. When you enter a waypoint or build a route, Axiom will ask if you want to follow it. You can also initiate it through your p70 or p70R autopilot controller. Touch Menu...Mode...Track and the autopilot will look for a destination waypoint or route being sent from any connected GPS or chartplotter. When it sees the waypoint it will show the bearing to it and the planned direction to turn towards it. Verify its safe for the boat to turn and press Track again to acknowledge and it will follow to the destination.

Hi How do i get my tide depth to show on my axiom
@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim. Axiom actually has a Tides mode that makes the individual tide and current stations more visible. In the chart application touch Menu...and then select Tides from the mode selections towards the bottom of the menu. The individual stations will be visible with the current tidal height displayed. You can long-press on any of them for a more detailed graph. In normal chart mode (Detailed) you can also long-press on the chart, select FIND NEAREST, and then Tides or Currents from the popup to see the station nearest to where you pressed. Tide and current station data is chart dependent. You do need to have a chart plugged in as the data is part of the chart card.

My boat is pointed in the wrong direction after the latest update. How do I fix that? Please respond by email.
@Raymarine2 жыл бұрын
I can't see your email address from here, but feel free to send me one at james.mcgowan@raymarine.com. Your boat icon is positioned on the plotter by GPS. The direction the icon points comes from one of 2 sources, depending on what sensors are available on your boat. If you have no other sensors besides GPS, then the orientation of the boat icon is determined by the Course Over Ground provided by the GPS system. When you are not moving, or going very slowly, the COG value can be very unstable. Once you accelerate to anything over 1 to 2 knots, it should become very stable and accurate. If your boat is fitted with an Autopilot system and it is connected to Axiom, it will receive Compass Heading from the pilot's heading sensor. Boats without autopilot will often still have a compass sensor fitted for the benefit of the chartplotter and radar systems. If you do have heading available, and you are seeing the boat icon pointed the wrong way, it means you need to calibrate the heading through the autopilot or compass sensor. Something helpful is to populate the databar, or 2 on-screen data items with COG and HEADING and see what they read in comparison to each other. Going slow or stopped, it is normal to see them have different values. Once moving at a steady speed they will normally be within a few degrees of each other assuming the compass is calibrated and the boat is not in excessive current or wind making it crab. If heading reports with dashes, rather than a number, then heading is not being detected by Axiom.

@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
In the radar app, you can create a custom Variable Range Marker (VRM) and any distance you like. In the chart app there is an option to turn on range-rings, but those ones are at pre-defined intervals and can't be changed. Long press on the boat icon and you'll see a checkbox for Range Rings there.

Jim, I’m so disappointed w my axiom 9, got it mainly for Structure I wanted to find & it doesn’t do that at all, it always shows a plain bottom of lake but never any structure as in the truck I know is there & shows it as the pile of different bubbles like fish?? I’ve dialed in every way n this is freshwater... no chart at all on mine just doesn’t locate at all? Just in a city lake but still should show rite? Do I have to put the sd card in for the chart to come up? No water temperature, I’ve gone into menu n still doesn’t show? Boat speed nothing showing on it either? I got the 3yr warranty but spent a lot of money so I wouldn’t have to use it But..... very disappointed.... transducer is the rv100 I believe it’s called... my goal in buying it was to find trees n truck or anything structure wise n it’s not able to build evidently....Thx hopefully it’s operator error:)

Can you show us how to Chromecast from axiom to HDMI TV
@Raymarine2 жыл бұрын
I can certainly cover that in a future video. In the mean-time though, it's pretty easy to do. First, if there is anything special you need to do on your Smart TV to get it into Chromecast/Wireless Display mode you will need to turn that on. Most modern TV's only need to have their Wi-Fi turned on. Some models might require you to enable remote mirroring in the TV's menu. Consult your TV manual for that. Over on Axiom go to your homescreen and touch Settings....This Display...scroll down to Wireless Display and touch where it says "Not Connected." Axiom will begin searching for nearby screens. When you see your TV listed simply touch it and Axiom will connect. Some TV's might require you to input a PIN code. That code is usually displayed on the TV screen. Axiom will detect if the TV is requesting a PIN and will provide an on-screen keypad to type it in.

recently purchased Element 7", and I could say that a cool toy, I only miss one thing about the button backlight, often the screen is so bright that it just blinds me and you can't see the control panel, I have to do all the operations in the dark, like a blind 😳🧐😁

Thanks for choosing Element! I do agree, if there was one more thing I would like it to have that is backlighting for the keypad. There is a choice for either a bright or dark user interface, and the backlight is adjustable. Between the dark interface and low backlight settings at night, you should be able to get it down to a comfortable level.

@@Raymarine Well, maybe I would agree, but I want a bright, very bright screen and at the same time clearly see the button markings on the control panel, we do not require too much, such solutions have been used for decades, even in the cheapest car radios. of the entire control panel, only white markings on the buttons were enough, so little is needed to change so much👍

How to change color of course projection line
@Raymarine2 жыл бұрын
Hello Jim. The course projection lines (vectors) are fixed in color and can't be changed. The Heading vector is black with one pointer head and the Course Over Ground vector is blue with dual pointer heads. There is an option to change the thickness of them that might help. In your chart app go to Menu....Settings....Advanced and scroll down to the section titled My Data Appearance. There is a control in there for Vector Width which can be set to thin, normal or wide. Personally, I prefer the wide setting for best visibility. You might like it better too. There are similar settings in there to adjust the thickness of the route legs and your track plotter history line.

@Raymarine10 ай бұрын
It sounds like the Chart app was removed from your home screen. Here is how to get it back: Long-press on any square and select Edit from the menu that pops up. This brings you to the tile editor wizard. Choose a fullscreen layout, then assign the chart app to it and press Save. You can give it a custom name when prompted, or just leave it as Chart and save it. This will restore the Chart app to your home screen. Touch it to launch the app. Also, keep in mind there are actually 3 pages to the home screen. When the unit starts up it lands you on the center page of the home screen, with up to 8 tiles on it. If you swipe the home screen left, you'll see additional tiles that can be customized. Similarly, there are 8 more when you swipe to the right. Its possible that your chart app is there, just moved off of the center home screen.

@Raymarine3 жыл бұрын
I am guessing you are commenting on radar, which wasn't really in this episode. If I can help with a tech issue please don't hesitate to send me an email with the details. james.mcgowan@raymarine.com. Main Bang is a phenomenon of all traditional magnetron based radars. It is a close-in blind area at the center of the scope where the radar cannot see anything due to the duty cycle of the radar's transceiver circuit. Traditional radar scanners transmit and receive through the same antenna array. Because of this they cannot send a pulse out and receive echoes back at exactly the same time. There is a circuit in the radar system called a duplexer that switches the antenna between transmitting and receiving energy so the signals are all properly routed out of the antenna or back into the receiver. Keep in mind this is all happening quite literally at the speed of light. That's how fast radar energy travels. Even at light speed there is a small window of time when the duplexer is switching modes, and the radar is neither transmitting or receiving. This tiny window of time is the blind spot, and it impacts the detection of targets that are very close to the scanner. There are things we can do as designers to radar to minimize the impact of Main Bang, but the most effective means is to change the pulse length of the radar. The pulse length is how long the radar transmits for with each pulse it sends. Our magnetron-based radars have 8 different pulse lengths that are automatically applied depending on the range scale being displayed. If you are seeing lots of Main Bang in your radar display you should change to shorter range scale. This will change the radar's pulse to a shorter length. Another setting to check on your radar is Target Expansion. This mode when enabled will make small targets look larger on the display. It does this by forcing the radar to utilize a longer pulse length that it normally would use for the given range scale being displayed. The plus of Target Expansion is bigger targets on the scope. The downside to it is it does increase the Main Bang blind spot because of the longer pulse length being transmitted. Newer radar designs with CHIRP or solid-state transmitters have new methods of dealing with this. Our Quantum and Quantum 2 radars, for example, use CHIRP pulse-compression technology to deliver exceptional short-range target detection and reduced main bang. Instead of sending out a single-frequency microwave pulse (which is rectangular in shape if you look at it with an oscilloscope) it send a CHIRP pulse of increasing frequencies (which looks more like a ramp shape.) The advantage here is that the returning echo from the CHIRP pulse is the mirror image of what was sent out. The last frequency transmitted is the first to return to the receiver. This allows the radar to definitively see the leading and trailing edges of each returning pulse echo and resolve the range-to-target much more effectively. On the traditional single-frequency radars the system can't as easily resolve the start and stop of returning echoes because the frequency if the signal coming back looks exactly the same as what went out. There are many different applications for these radars, with pluses and minuses to each design.
