I remember shaking Ray Rougaeu's hand back in 1988. It was at the Columbus convention center during a WWF house show. I was 9 years old. My stepfather took me to wrestling shows all the time. Ray walked down the isle just to observe a match. He stood in the isle just to watch a match. He was out of character but in his wrestling attire. I looked over at him and he walked over and shook my hand and my stepdads hand. He seemed like a very nice guy.

Everyone by now has seen Dynamite's interviews and read his book. I did as I was a fan of his at the time. Based on this interview, I believe Raymond is 100% telling the truth of what happened. What's really sad is that I was a genuine fan of Dynamite Kid but he turned out to be such a prick in real life. It's well known he treated his wife far worse than he treated his fellow wrestlers. Well if it's any consolation to the Rougeaus, they are both alive, healthy and wealthy and Tommy Billington sadly passed away crippled and in poverty living on assistance in England. Maybe there is such a thing as karma.

I worked with a guy that did just that and he was a total POS but didn't have the positive qualities that Curt did. He was the brother of the owner and was eventually fired. I think this is the first time I've heard this story from Raymond. I've heard it from Jacques, Lanny Poffo, Bad News Brown, and Bret Hart in other interviews. Bad News is the only one I can remember who's supported Dynamite over this. Even Bret Hart who was really close with Dynamite has said that Dynamite had it coming because he'd bullied so many guys in the past. Bret Hart also was one of the guys who warned Dynamite that the Rougeaus would retaliate. Apparently loads of the wrestlers warned Dynamite Kid that there would be a comeback for hitting Jacques and he ignored all the warnings.

So is Curt Hennig the ultimate mastermind behind this rivalry between The Rougeau's and Dynamite Kid? I think personally the one responsible is Curt Hennig because he caused this feud and he should've been held responsible. I am a fan of Mr. Perfect aka Curt Hennig but what he caused here was just low and horrible. He should've been held accountable and all 4 of them should've gone after Curt Hennig instead of them fighting each other.

@Ryan Jessen I hear ya, Lad. Takes a special kind of asshole to wanna do that to someone. Dynamite got his frenemy drunk and defenseless, then pissed on him. I HATE hearing stories of anyone getting hurt, but I don't feel sorry that Jacques knocked his teeth out. Dynamite didn't stop after he jumped Jacques in the locker room. Im sure you heard of the flight attendant story. He kept picking on Jacques and also asking Ray how his injured knee was. He was more or less asking Raymond if he's ready to fight. Bret Hart and Dino Bravo tried to warn Dynamite of his future and boy did he get it. His career faded to shit from there.

Ribs are often couched as mischief to break up the monotony, but with a sense of brotherhood. But that's not always the case. Sometimes, especially with people like Tommy Billington, they are ways to bully and torment others. Jacques was in a very tough spot. Tommy was not only a notorious bully, he also was a legitimate tough guy and a very dangerous fighter. When people say Jacques' attack was cowardly -- and maybe it indeed was -- it was the only way he could have beaten him up. Facing off with him, even with Raymond, wouldn't have worked. Dynamite probably would have hurt them both. Bad. Add to the fact that Dynamite had his entourage with him most times... which included his buddy Bad News Brown, another legitimately dangerous man, things could have really gotten bad. Jacques ambush had like a 100 to 1 shot of succeeding, and lucky for him, that "1" came up.

amazing story. I've heard this story before but not from his brother. So many lessons here, manhood, courage, redemption, fear, bullies, being watchful. I stood up to a bully back 87, i hit him in the mouth after being beat up and bullied for months, he was shocked. My only mistake was i didn't realize he was going to come back and try to save face, so right after it happened I was somewhere with my back completely turned at my locker and he came back and beat me pretty bad from behind, nobody had taught me how to watch my back and keep my head on a swivel.... But even though I got my butt kicked from his comeback, the bullying did stop

12:00 you don’t even need a roll of quarters, a bic lighter works really well too, it just reinforces your hand and gives something sturdy to wrap your fist around. The roll of quarters is obviously preferable, but not many people walk around with a roll of quarters in their pocket in a self defense scenario.
