The reason that Billington made Honkytonk Man cry was over a crack that HTM made about Harley Race. Harley had been injured from a table spot in a match with Hogan, and had to have part of his intestines removed. HTM joked that Harley “didn’t have any guts anymore “. According to Bret, the other wrestlers didn’t take kindly to someone as soft as HTM joking about a legendary hard man like Race. Dynamite was good friends with and idolized Race, and backhanded HTM off of his chair for that. Bret said that HTM cried like a baby and begged for forgiveness for that. Sorry for the novel there 😅

The Kid's roid rage really took over. When I ran an engineering company I took on this young lad who was hugely into body image. He was hard working, polite, kind and a great team player. After 12 months his atritude changed completely, he was aggressive, resentful, angry, and got into fights with colleagues. I discovered he was self dosing on Testosterone and roids... had to fire him 3 months later for hitting a colleague.

What a lot of people don’t know is Tom and Davy were descended from a family of public executioners “The Billington’s” operated for a number of years in the late 1800’s and into the 1900’s conducting hangings for the state. Unfortunately, they also suffered from the congenital thickness and there were many incidents of botched hangings and one of them killing himself by drunkenly falling through his own trap door. They were eventually put out of business by the Pierrepoints. There was also a psychotic bare knuckle boxer in the Billington family, who would go out and beat up anyone who dare pass the window of his house - sounds Dynamite came from the same test tube. So judging by this prime DNA, the observation there is something unsettling about Dynamite is probably founded 😂

There is a British ITV bout I remember seeing at the time where Dynamite and Fit Finley go at it. I remember it because it was terrifying in its ferocity (I think I was 12). My feeling at the time was that something went wrong, as both wrestlers looked hurt, and I am pretty sure that the ring floor was damaged with one of the boards splintered and broken. If memory serves me correctly Finley won in a sudden ending which again added to the feeling that something had gone wrong. If you ever find the footage I would love you to do video on it, as it was an amazing piece of athleticism from both wrestlers.

I remember watching these guys as a kid and to this day i think they were 2 of the most well conditioned wrestlers in the WWF They really looked like their action figures. Actually they probably looked way better than the original Mattel ones that were made out of rubber

Bret Hart named Dynamite Kid one of his top 5 wrestlers of all time....and both of their ex-wives were sisters. Very interesting. I didn't know much about him besides just being the other guy on the British Bulldogs.

The Rougeaus were considered uncooperative and only tried to get themselves over and were disliked by many, Greg Valentine said in one match he had to legitimately shoot on them to get his offence in because they were so upset over the finish they would work. Demolition and Killer Bees weren’t fans either by the sounds of it. I enjoyed their bad guy stuff though and Bulldogs could have done great stuff with them, a mistake not to see the potential. Watching this match you wouldn’t see the heat because at least they were professional in the ring.

@@billbird6494 well the narrative that many thought Dynamite had it coming and was disliked is not true for me, he certainly was a popular figure. That reputation has come about more on social media but he did do some bad shit though not that others have done similar.

@@drofheim My take is that most of the guys were just as bad at the time in one way or another and there wasn't any innocent parties in this particular incident. The narrative of Dynamite being the worst human who ever wrestled is so stupid when there have been murderers and sex offenders throughout wrestling history.

@@drofheim Even Bret Hart in his book said that Dynamite had it coming and that he left him to deal with that situation on his own. That said, Dynamite 100% had close friends in the company: Bret, Race, Dan Spivey, Moondog Spot, and others. He and Davey Boy were still tight--their falling out wouldn't come until the '90s.

Chris Benoit's entire style & offense was based off The Dynamite Kid, he admitted it but also crazy how they might have both been the biggest psycho's in wrestling history.

2:57 The reason why the Rougeaus made such good heels later on was because they really were smug g1ts like that in real life. They used to whisper stuff in French about other wrestlers in front of them.

@@kurtvanderbogarde8402 Makes no sense. If Jacques and Raymond were speaking French and nobody could understand them, then why would they _whisper_ to each another? It's like turning your back on somebody to give that person privacy, and then covering your eyes, pointless. Additionally, if nobody else could understand French, how would anyone _know_ what was being said? Just sounds like paranoia to me. Dynamite said in his book that when Canadian fans would jeer him in French, he wouldn't give a crap, because he couldn't understand what was being said. So, why the bother about Jacques and Raymond supposedly saying bad things about him in French? Dynamite contradicted himself. The man was wound tighter than a cheap watch, hard to take him seriously when he said things like this.

Best part of the Rougeou heels was just not their work which got awesome cowardly heel, but it was the French part of their lyrics On peut pas les sentir Dans le monde ils sont les pires On aime les faire fâcher quand on dit Which translates to 'We can't stand them, they are the worst, we make them them angry when we say" Add in Jimmy Hart and it was magic, was a shame Raymond got injured and could no longer wrestle As much praise as Hennig gets, he was an instigator and his ribs were not like Owen Hart's in a 'ahhh, gotcha' method, but just mean and juvenile and this it cost a team their jobs & a man his teeth. Not that is a bad thing because according to multiple sources, they were both cruel to that dog
