Razer acquired Controller Gear in early 2021, so these are essentially rebranded/re-designed CG charging stands. CG stuff has been hard to get hold of in the UK, so Razer taking ownership makes it easier for us Brits to buy these. Great review, thanks!

@@MXCharly92MX I'm not sure about newer Controller Gear stands but I have one and it plugs into the wall with an AC adapter and a barrel plug. The Razer ones are USB C. I prefer them for this reason alone.

It’s fine. These have a chip to keep them from over charging.

I found that since I swapped to the battery pack included with the razer charging stand that the battery level graphic on my Xbox has been way out. I.e console said battery low but image was showing at least 50% battery then maybe 15 mins later controller died and required charging. Not really an issue as still get multiple hours out of it but just a bit of a pain to not be able to track it , like driving a car but the fuel gauge only flashes red and lets you know when you got 60 miles left

Yes. I think it’s because of the chip that helps protect it from being over charged. I’ve noticed this on a lot of third party batteries, not just razer. It’s odd.

I just bought 2 of these for in carbon black to go with my Series S Carbon Black 1TB edition after my 2 Xbox Official Rechargeable Batteries kicked the bucket after only having them for 1 year.

Hi rob I just recently got the charging stand and the battery but I have an issue when I place the battery in the controller it stops the left trigger from working properly do you know of a way to fix that?

I’m not even sure how a battery would impact a trigger like that. I’d exchange it.

i bought the red one and the back plates r white like wtf. well i guess its cus its supposed to match the pulse red controller and its back is white and mine is from the design lab

Yeah. All the basic colors have white backs. Pulse Red, Volt, Deep Pink, etc.

This controller is from Xbox. It’s the aqua shift but the Xbox razer controllers can work too.

It’s supposed to have a chip that prevents over charging. I still use this controller/ stand combo and haven’t had any issues with it yet.

No. If you have the controller plugged in via USB-C the controller will work off of the power from the cable but won't charge the battery at the same time. There are some kits that will do that like the Plug and Play kits. amzn.to/3FNBlaf Watch for resellers on Amazon. That should only cost $25 but sometimes I see it as high as $40.

@@haize1511 If the cord is plugged into the controller, you'll be drawing power from the cord and not the battery so the battery won't go dead but I don't think it will charge either. The base is what charges the battery in this set up. So, the cord is typically plugged into the base but it is USB-C so you can use the cord to plug into the controller directly if you want to.

Turns out that Razer bought controller gear, swapped the port from Micro USB to USB-C and stamped their brand on it. So if you thought those were trash watch out for these. The braided cord is nice though.
