As young adult working a low paying job and still paying for myself to get through university. I got my series S yesterday and I dont regret it one bit. I had my original xbox one since 2015 and my upgrade path focused on getting the Series S cause it is a major improvement and just made more sense financially. Storage is a problem but the easiest solution I found is that prioritise putting your optimised games on the internal storage and games you play regularly, the rest of the games keep on an external hdd or ssd and when you want to play ,just move games over and your problem solved.

Great suggestions and yeah, the Series S will be a big upgrade over the OG Xbox One. External storage can really help mitigate the storage issue and at least you only have to download games once if you have big enough external storage.

Good video. I agree with everything you said. As a One X owner who got a Series S, I can see the logic in telling them to wait for the Series X but, after the 1st day playing my Series S, I think it's worth taking the graphics hit to upgrade to 60FPS, faster load times, and smoother gameplay. The only downside is storage. While buying the 2TB SSD will be insane until the price goes down, I think you're want to buy the 1TB SSD because, transferring games back and forth will get old real quick, and as more games come out optimized, or exclusive to the current generation, more space will be required. I might not even get the Series X when it becomes a available, I might wait for the refresh.

The problem with availability is also that in some countries there are some consoles in stores. But a few and deliveries are far between. But the stores are using scalper like practices. Example: A console + additional controller (at MSRP, even though the same store sells it separately cheaper) + a game or two which were already heavily discounted of course with day 1 price. @BusyDadGaming3 жыл бұрын
The Series X is for a particular market, as is the Series S. Being broke could play into it, but so could a general lack of time to game. If someone only games a few hours a week or month, spending more money makes zero sense (and many have said as such). Couple that with 54% of the U.S. don't have 4K TVs. It all comes down to the use case of that person and what makes sense for them.

I’ve always been a playstation player but as a teenager in highschool the 360 was my main and was actually the first time I’ve owned an Xbox. It feels good 10 years later to be back in the Microsoft family despite being a PlayStation fan at heart. But with titles like Halo, Forza, Gears, and the new elder scrolls that’s going to be an exclusive as well, that reason alone is why I picked one up.

I bought the Series S when MS Flight Sim came out on Xbox as i had been really wanting to play it and the X is impossible to find here in Australia. I only have a 1080 TV anyway so no loss there, and the 60fps is great on games that have it. And the reduced load times are almost worth the cost right there. For example XCOM 2, you can go from the Xbox dashboard, to playing the game in less than 20 seconds, even less if you leave your saved game running in the background. I also picked up the SSD as I knew I would need the space. Its expensive, but I will just transfer it to the Series X (or whatever the console is at the time) when I finally pick one up in the future. IMO the small HDD is the only thing holding this system back for a lot of people. Especially if you go in knowing you will probably upgrade mid way through the console cycle anyway.

I’ve had the PS5 since release back in November 2020 but recently purchased the Series S for Xbox exclusives and game pass. It’s been great thus far especially with Forza Horizon 5 and even rainbow six extraction being “free” thanks to game pass. I will always still prefer PlayStation over Xbox as I’ve done since I had the PS2 but it’s nice being able to play the Xbox exclusives. Definitely excited about Starfield later in the year. As for the storage woes of the series S I have a 2TB external HDD for storing and playing older titles and storing the newer games if I want to pause temporarily so I don’t have to fully delete and re-install. I should also note back when I got my PS5 I went out and purchased a 50” 4K Samsung SmartTV which has a game mode.
@BusyDadGaming2 жыл бұрын
I have a PS5 as well, but the Series X is my main. I just like the controller more than the DualSense. I own each system for the exclusives, HFW I'm stoked for as an example. I'm really hoping Sony comes out with a good Game Pass competitor though.

My struggle is the S and storage. Once you buy an SSD which can't even play the optimized games ...might as well add another 100 to get the X. But I don't like the design of the X. So I may wait for the S to have more storage. Or for an X redesign. Luckily I don't game much / barely. I got a couple Xbox one Ss for my boys used. But I love the form factor of the S since we have game pass. Thinking about getting two paases because managing two Xboxes without it is impossible. Ha
@BusyDadGaming3 жыл бұрын
Makes sense and I actually use an external USB SSD for any non-X|S game. There aren't a ton of them so managing them has been fairly easy. It won't be until next year that you'll start to see specific X|S games coming out more consistently.

I wish Sony also went with this route that would be a heaven sent for me as I can't afford the PS5 (or Series X, for that matter) price. I went with the Series S purely because of price but I am more attracted to Sony's exclusives. Well, one thing for sure is that Microsoft strategy works haha. I hope I can get the maximum out of the Series S and its games.

Just purchased a series s as an Xbox one s owner and was feeling some trepidation, but you did a really good job of allaying my fears. Great video and very informative.

So there is no Xbox Series X stock in Europe. In Estonia some legit shops have Series X's actually. However they are taking advantage of supply & demand, which is why they are selling the Xbox Series X for 700€, which is about 790$ US. And now I look at the Xbox Series S, which is in stock and it costs 269€, which is about 300$ US. So it is 790$ vs 300$. I think the value for money winner at the moment is clearly the Series S.
@BusyDadGaming3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's unfortunate they are marking the Series X up as much as they are. The Series S at least has some availability, so it makes it a much lower barrier of entry into the current-gen.

Still undecided on what to get tbh. This was a pretty good scope! I’m most scared if the 1. Storage I already know is play games like COD, Battle field, Forza, GTA v, NBA, Rocket League. However I’m working and a bit busy finishing my degree so I’m not sure if it’s still worth it. Thoughts? Help plz LOL

Most of the games you mentioned you can play off of an external hard drive so any Series specific game you can have on the internal drive. A lot of people go that route, especially when limited on time. Now it also depends on how long you're going to be limited on time. When do you see your schedule opening up?

I have a series x and it’s a truly great machine, the series s is fine if you don’t want the better graphics and resolution etc, but I wouldn’t recommend it as your first choice over the series x, and depending on your budget you might not be able to afford a second console and could be stuck with weaker one which in long term your might regret,

Those are good points. For many, it's not about graphics or the fastest machine, but more so how much they'll actually use and what they'll use it on. Most people in the States don't have 4K TVs and on average upgrade TVs once every 8 to 10 years. Just comes down to that person's use case and where they feel their money will be best spent.

@Dante Wolfgang - The 1X has bandwidth restraints that keep it from doing what current Gen consoles can (in addition to missing features). It's GPU is still pretty good in 2022, it's the rest of the box holding it back.

Buy a digital-only console and be at the mercy of gaming companies when you decide to buy your games. They will dictate the price. Say goodbye to buying used games or trading.
@BusyDadGaming3 жыл бұрын
That's true on the used game part. Untrue on the digital aspect with Xbox as of this video. Microsoft doesn't restrict digital game sales to only their store. Any retail company can also sell them, and discount them, as they would with physical games. PlayStation is different in that Sony 1st party titles can only be bought thru the PS store (which they are currently being sued for).
