Razer Barracuda X 2021 vs. 2022 a Real World Test and Review

I purchased both the Razer Barracuda X 2021 and the Razer Barracuda X 2022 - and I am pretty sure that i have found the best wireless headset under $100, but the problem is, that there is two of them, so which should you pick. In this video i'll tell you why its not worth upgrading, and why you should consider getting the old 2021 to save some money, if its still possible for you.

I got a used 2021 pair from a Goodwill 2 weeks ago for $5 USD and the piece that connects it to the computer wirelessly didn't work, so I was messing around the Razer website and put the headsets serial number into the support area and it somehow still had warranty. I then asked them to send a new USB, which they did and it did not work so they requested me to ship the headset out to them. A few days later they let me know that they were going to send a new pair but they didn't have the 2021 in stock so they substituted it with the 2022 version instead. Basically I just got a Razer Barracuda X brand new for $5 with warranty, so that's pretty nice!

Thanks for the vid,i have 2021 model for almost 1 year and im good with it,only problem was weak body,its broken in the spining part but not effective at all,my plan is to get the 2022model after this cuz i really love the shape,again great info and video❤

Sorry to hear that. Some say you can save up to $40 by getting 2021 - i recommend really considering getting the same, i have switched to bluetooth on accident like 7 or 10 times now - it's not as fast to connect with.

Full agreement with your point that this headset has a weak body and is prone to constant stretching or tearing. It's definitely not a go for those with larger head like me

I own 2022, wanted to buy studio headphones but I thought that it will cool to try witeless headphones. Maybe the sound quality is not the best but good enough, especially after eq for gaming and anything I do on pc, including editing + I always prefer3d listening to music from my phone on nothing ear 2.The battery is life is amazing, for such cheap headphones, I dont think I ever charged them more than maybe 1,5-2 times per week. No regrets

It is plug ins for compressions, noise gates and limiters etc. in OBS. But i might see if i can make a video on it. i tuned mine, but i dont know how to make something that works for all mic's because its different for each.

Hey Bro, The timing of this video is just perfect.. Thank you for making this video. I'm looking forward to buy this. But here in india, The 2022 model costs appx 120 USD on local stores and 140 USD on amazon. However the 2021 model Costs 50 USD in local stores. Now, I need suggestions from you. I currently have HS50 and it's broken. Thinking to upgrade to this minimal looking headphones. I can bear 20 hrs of battery life. However, I have two questions 1. Is there any difference of sound between the two model or it's the same sound quality.? 2. Does the 2021 model got the option to use as a wired one using 3.5mm jack cable?

1. As my test goes, everything is the same, it just have upgraded battery and bluetooth 2. They both have 3,5 mm i think, i am not home right now, i think you can see it in the video. Otherwise, what i do when i have a headset thats out of battery is i use it, while its charging via USB-C

​@@DanglishReviews So I've been using the new one for a week now and I've noticed some differences. The new one feels sturdier since it doesn't move even if I tilt my head. (The first one did this a lot although this might just be a user error on my part.) The texture is rougher of the plastic on both the headset and the adapter is rougher. There's also a difference in the beep sounds when connecting or low battery. The new one sounds deeper.

Hey man, just wanna know how the hyperclear mic of Barracuda X 2022 performs. Does it effectively cancel background noise such as dog barks, vehicle noises, etc.? Been eyeing the Barracuda X mainly for calls/work and for gaming as well. Also for its long batt life.

It does not have any noise cancellation. But a mic close to your mouth operates at lower lvls and catches much less noise

I haven’t tried it, :) but it might? Because it’s software noise cancellation which is good these days The closer the mic is to your mouth the less noise you will pick up

Usb-C but there is a cable to USB-A. But you can also go 3,5mm Jack but then there is no reason to buy the wireless.

The build quality of this headset is poor. The plastic frame is not sturdy at all and could hardly withstand constant stretching or external exertion of force. For those who have large heads should consider blackshark or hyperx cloud instead

I have a large head, so large that my bike helmet is custom order - and i do not agree with you on the build quality - not even the slightest. I have not tested the Razer BlackShark because its almost twice as much as the razer barracuda x (2021 model) so its not comparing the same headsets- but i have tested the HyperX Cloud II and the build quality of the Razer Barracuda X is much higher than the HyperX Cloud II
