When comparing the webcam to a phone I think you need to consider the thickness of a phone compared to the laptop screen

hey, thanks for such an informative video. love that your assessment was from both a gaming and non-gaming perspective- super appreciate that. for blended use (both gaming/non-gaming), do you think you'd recommend the 2021 base model over the 2020 advanced model? I've been seeing some pretty sweet deals floating around for Black Friday and I'm super torn.

Not particularly. The jump to Intel 11th gen chips in 2021 isn’t going to make sweeping differences to gaming performance as you’ll always be GPU-Thermal bottlenecked on a laptop, so I’d go for the best configuration (GPU, RAM, Resolution, Screen refresh rate) that works for your use case between both the 2020 and 2021 base/advanced models!!

Thanks friend. Honestly I’m not sure it’ll make a difference though. Unless your product breaks within Amazons returns period (30 days or so?)I suspect you’ll have to work with the manufacturer directly, regardless of the retailer you buy it from!

Interesting review, assume the secondary functions on keys still not backlit on UK model? Any thoughts on the keyboard layout?

I’ll confess I don’t recall about the backlit secondaries! As for the layout, everything looks well organised, no oddities as far as I’m concerned, it just didn’t click with me in terms of getting up to speed with prolonged touch typing.

Great review, honestly very detailed 😲👍🏼 Let me add in my personal experience: Its a nice Laptop but tbh it runs hot, especially the chassis to be more specific. The palm rest area gets really hot while gaming, the keyboard area as well. If you're planning to play AAA games on it like Cyberpunk 2077 or use heavy programs then be prepared for a very warm - hot palm rest area and Keyboard. On doing simple tasks yes, it stays cool to very slightly warm. I play Cyberpunk 2077 with it, I have this same exact model and it heats up pretty quickly. I don't mind if the internals stayed hot (high 70s, low 80s) but the palm rest area and Keyboard gets really warm-uncomfortably warm/hot after a long play session. Bear in mind I always have the fan on max RPM while playing, it helps a little with keeping the WASD keys warm and not uncomfortably hot..so if anyone knows how to lower temps below this, for this exact Model, help me out lol. Besides that, its an awesome Laptop. But honestly too expensive to be having this issue 🤷. Legion 5 Pro might be a better cheaper option.

If you want to maximise that 240hz display you’re going to want the more powerful GPU!

I traded my 2019 hp omen with 1650 an i7 9th gen 60htz display for a 2018 razer with 2080 max q an i7 8th gen 144htz display did I get the better deal? Is the 2080 max q better then the regular 1650?

Would be quite interesting to see how the refreshed Blade Pro 17 with the 11th Gen chips performs but at the same time quite overpriced for no reason with configuration like a 3080

Indeed! I really doubt 11th gen will make sweeping improvements, certainly not the sort of gains we saw with the jump from 2000 series to 3000 series nvidia GPUs.

Wayyyy too expensive, I was able to order a Strix Scar 15 with a few upgrades (including an extra 2tb nvme storage drive) and extended warranty for almost $600 less once tax is figured in. It's a 165hz QHD screen, 3070 GPU, and Ryzen 5800H CPU (which I prefer), so a slight downgrade on raw performance, but even accounting for that, it's a big price gulf.

Maybe, but an extra $600 is a big ask for 'build quality.' Not that build quality isn't important, but almost 25% premium? I have a lot of things I'd rather spend that $600 on.

Good video, for your analysis Razer Blade still has some problems to solve, the software is a big problem and they take time, they have to improve the quality because it is a very expensive laptop, I think that the Asus strix scar seems much better, although as a design the Razer is super nice, but I don't pay for a very expensive laptop when it has problems and the Strix Scar model is also very eye-catching
