I might be in the minority here, but to me what makes this mouse pro is all these extra features. I'm sick and tired of all this craze about weight reduction that effectively removes all the features from the mouse and even increases the price. 70-80g is perfect when we have ALL the features for the price. Bluetooth, wireless charging, good RGB, place to store the dongle, so many great things. I love when mice have actual features.

Yeah even as someone who's used a sub60g mouse for 2 years and getting some awesome scores with my modded viper mini, the truth is 74g is basically not all that bad, and since I moved to the Naga X which is even more than this wireless cobra, its still not that much compared side to side to my viper mini. If you really need the shape and the weight, just remove the light diffusers and some non-destructive parts, put it back together, and there you go. I'll stick to my Naga X though that 12 button feature is insane.

77g isn't even an Issue... There was time where almost every pro in CS:GO was using Zowie EC2-B or even EC1... EC2 is 90g in wheight btw... Then the lightwheight trend started, with all the mice with holes so we've come to 60grams / sub 60 grams. That developed further where we've been able to build mice sub 60 even without holes. It's a lot of marketing - thinking 77g is a problem in playing fps just shows how well advertising / marketing worked over the last couple of years and media coverage is going the same route.. Additionally I would also argue that a lot of people would aim better in FPS if their mouse is heavier than those mini sized mice with 60/sub 60g, because it can lead to more stability based on your hand dexterity and lead to more consistency... like said, marketing did a great job the last couple of years... smaller and lighter equals better... Personally i think shape is a lot more important than 10-15g more or less in wheight.... People just expected a viper mini from the cobra pro, that will probably be the case down the road if a cobra v2 pro is released without rgb and such gimmicks. However If you dig the shape/size and the cost doesn't bother you, there is no reason to not get a cobra pro....

I just got this mouse, and honestly the hate on it is pretty ridiculous. It's misunderstood in it's design. 1: Razer is keeping the Viper to the Viper family, the SE was the special release. This one is for mass market purchasing and creating a new mouse for the future. Granted, it's not new to an extent, but it makes sense to the loyal mini fans. 2: Razer signature is it's RGB aesthetics, they would be crazy to not include that. This gives the fans RGB along with the performance. 3: the weight is not even noticeable change from the Viper 8khz, and like randomfrankp says, it's back heavy ONLY with the wireless charging puck, not the og puck or even the puck removed. 4: it's there most solid build to date, feels as premium as it is. 5: this is able to be used in an eSports competitive environment, if they made every mouse extremely lightweight they would be missing out on those who want the aesthetics and don't care about weight. I have a review coming soon, a non biased thoughtful review that'll put into speculation of the mouse. All I can say for now is, you definitely won't be disappointed if you are looking for that 4khz polling, solid build and aesthetics with performance guarenteed, and no it doesn't need to be stripped down entirely, Ive used all kinds of mice and it's great especially on a glass pad.

I think the reasoning behind Razer creating the Cobra product line is to cater to the Viper Ultimate and V2 fans. The new Viper V3 Hyperspeed clearly is done with the form factor that the Viper Ultimate or the Viper V2 Pro has, and is trying to mimic the Logitech G Pro X form factor (since the superlight version saw better sales than the V2 Pro). So now, since the Viper line is going to a more GPX-like form factor from now on, Razer is mantaining the old Viper form factor through the Cobra line. It makes sense when you look at it this way. The difference in weight I'm guessing it's because if they reduce the weight of the Cobra Pro, it will have a clash in sales with the high in demand Viper Mini Signature Edition. Perhaps Razer will drop down the weight of the Cobra Pro in a new version once they discontinue the Mini Signature Edition.

I personally love my Basilisk (regardless of weight), and if I wanted an ambi I think I'd probably go for the cobra just because not everyone wants the most ultra light mouse, and I think that sometimes people forget that not everyone has the same preferences as them. The viper mice are an excellent line that hold up even after a few years, however there hasn't been anything like a cobra since the 2015 diamondback tbh.

How was this not called the Viper Ultimate V2 Mini?
@noxalbus Жыл бұрын
What's happening with razer now is that, they're sending stuff only to a couple of people and listening exclusively to them. Like, literally a day ago the Razer iems were sent to a few folks, notably excluding crinacle, who's a singapore local and an audio reviewer who actually went to razer hq to give advice. It's like they're internally confused at what to do at this point.

in my experince a mouse being light has diminishing returns after a point. this is for people that want the shape of the viper and all the basalisk features. grip will always be much more important than the mouse being light if you ask me. i do better with a heavy mouse that i can grip well

Viper Ultimate is btw also 74g.
@zatharos6427 Жыл бұрын
Frank, your “pro” argument of being a lightweight nomenclature falls flat if you remember the basilisk v3 pro exists (112 grams). The pro nomenclature is more akin to be the replacement for the ultimate sub-line rather than being a dedicated lightweight sub-line. Keep in mind the old viper ultimate, which this cobra is obviously is its successor, was 74 grams. Not that much heavier than the ultimate it replaces.
@akerouge3519 Жыл бұрын
Razer should simply change their naming scheme to reflect the features of their various gaming mice. They should kind of follow how the naming schemes goes with the automotive industry. "Pro" should be the moniker for mice that are performance oriented with enough physical features, but with the main highlight being lightweight. "Ultimate" should be the moniker for mice that still retains performance, but come with additional physical features than the norm with support for all that Chroma RGB and stuff at the expense of heavier weight. "X" and "Essential" should be just named "X" and will be entry-level offerings with limited features such as wired mode only and more basic performance, but still worthy. And lastly, no monikers at all should be for mice that are in that sweet middle spot in price and features. Offering that middle ground. In my opinion, the Cobra Pro should've been just named the Cobra and the Cobra should've been just named the Cobra X.

pretty sure they made this the way it is because of how similar it is to the viper mini when it comes to shape.

Why does it feel like they took one big step back. It feels like they designed the Cobra a few years ago alongside the basilisk but only decided to release it now. The design is fine on the basilisk cause it has more functions, but to put it on a mini mouse and make it heavier is just dumb imo. I hope this isn't the final version of the "viper mini wireless"

for someone like me who uses a 95g mouse for 15 pounds this mouse is way better with way more options and features, idk why anyone is complaining about this mouse, my mouse i used felt really nice and comfortable and light enough, everything is great with no disadvantages or negatives about it, i found prices elsewhere for even cheaper than from the razer website where it would cost 130 pounds or 170 dollars and where i could get one for 100 pounds that's brand new and not used at all

RFP called it 100% right here. Razer fan base has been wanting a wireless mini since it came out and for whatever reason Razer continues to drag their heels. I guess Razer doesn’t believe in the saying, “Strike while the iron is hot”.
@tevinslawson Жыл бұрын
I could’ve sworn you criticized the viper v2 pro like crazy for calling itself a “pro” mouse while taking away a ton of features that were on the viper ultimate. I think this mouse looks pretty interesting since I don’t think 75gs is heavy at all. Agree that it’s overpriced though

This isn’t laziness. It’s a dedicated “f*ck you”. They would rather waste more resources on a new product line than just use less resources and put their latest wireless tech in a Viper Mini chassy. If I had that much to spend I’d just wait for 10 more bucks or a sale and buy a DA v3 pro or Viper v2 pro.

76 grams is not heavy. But weight aside there is no point of this over the viper or basilisk depending on the features you want

Compared to what people were expecting and wanting, the mouse weighs almost double what people wanted on the mouse.

Instead of complaining about the weight, just get the wired cobra which is way cheaper and weights just 58 grams, that's even less than viper mini, provided you like this shape, of course.

$130 for a dock-less, heavier, lazy copy of another mouse in their line up? Pass. On top of all that you get the "joy" of continuing to have to use synapse. HARD PASS.

I've actually been waiting for a mouse like this for so long. I didn't upgrade because I didn't want to lose my RGB and the ability to use a dock, but I also didn't want to have to go for a heavy mouse like the Basilisk or the Naga. So, to answer your question, the mouse is for us RGB and dock lovers who wanted something as light as possible given those features, and it's good that Razer decided to do this because now thay can satisfy all types of costumers, which is only good for them. The Viper mini wireless will come, you just have to wait some months, as I did for years for a mouse like this.

It's just a mouse for normal gamers, they dont care about weight, they care about rgb , docking and functionality. The truth is, only enthusiasts want the wireless rvm, probably not even 1% of gamers
@Conno422 Жыл бұрын
imo it's a mouse for casual gamers that just want a nice looking setup. The RGB says it all. Any lighter than around 70g, a non-enthusiast/competitive gamer would think it feels cheap so the weight of high 70s is perfectly fine. For mixed use of gaming and productivity, that weight is quite serviceable.

Im glad they made the Cobra Pro. Ive been rocking a Lancehead since they were released and have adored it. Still going absolutely strong! Having the Cobra delivered tomorrow though as it appears to be the closest to the Lancehead with all the fun bells and whistles I like in a gaming mouse.

The main thing is that most people wanted a viper mini with top specs and wireless internals. This wasnt made FOR you it just happened that you liked it
@ajmalo6248 Жыл бұрын
the only reason why this exists is because if you don't like the heaviness of the basilisk but like the docking ability as well as you like the lightweight viper v2 pro but don't wanna charge via cable this meets you right in the middle as a lightweight and yes 77g is lightweight and versatile mouse that has all the "pro" features and a few extras.
