With the new Android pie you get the option to change the 4K video from 30 to 60 fps which is great, and in case you want to improve the quality of your pictures (which is not that bad, it's very good compared to other phones) you can install the Google pixel 3 APK and fix that.

If you’re talking about the ‘new’ Material Design that Google is slowly rolling out on their apps, I’m not too keen on that, too much inconsistency, poor user experience in general. I’m sure it’ll get better over time but for now, it’s a hot mess. The ‘original’ 2014 Material Design tho, it’s simple yet very functional. If you haven’t seen their video on the making of Material Design, they built the UI from the ground up, from real model simulation. They had a very strong design philosophy on the lighting, shadow, how the icons interact, how the layers are built, etc. I really like the old one better just because of how functional it is compared to the newer one. I love their colour palette too, so that’s that, I guess.

@@McRhino111 personally I love it! There are really no cases out for it right now though so it's a little nerve racking walking around without a case with an all glass front and back. Super super smooth otherwise. My gf had a pixel 2 and it honestly feels smoother than that

@@McRhino111 I'd say the only downside that I've had so far is that without a case the device can kind of "dig" into your hands with the sharper corners. I am getting used to it but once a decent case comes out I think it will help a bit! I notice it most when laying in bed on my side but it's not too bad. Phone does get a little warm when playing games but that just means the giant vapor chamber inside is doing it's job :)

I just tested my Razer 2 Front and back camera, my XS Max and my Asus ROG. The Razer doesn't sound as muffled as in that video but it does sound crappy compared to the Xs Max and the ROG.

I got this phone and the first thing i did was install a custom rom on it to degoogle it and optimize performance and battery life. After 5 to 6 years the battery is showing its age but replacement batteries are easy to come by and i know how to switch it.. ontop of that, i dont really use chi charging so i took the aluminum back out of a razer phone 1 and put it on the one i got just to increase the durability. Overall with everything i have done to it, i am getting 13 hours of battery life and at least 8 hours of screen on time and improved gaming performance from stock.. i have also overclocked it a little and the aluminum back and the vapor chamber cooling keeps it from overheating very effectively.. never thermal throttles with my use. I switched to this phone from 2020 model samsung galaxy.. and despite being 2 years older the speakers blew me away on the razer phone 2 and the screen was an absolute dream by comparison to use. Also even the stock android 9 on it was okay, very vanilla android experience with very little bloatware.. absolutely love this device and have been using it as my daily driver.. unfortunately i do have to replace the old battery which requires disassembly.. but thankfully i have the skills to do so.

Not so much a problem with sand getting into the speakers as they are well protected, as are most smartphones with larger openings in their speakers. But I think the problem is that the many holes in the front, are just very small but just big enough that if or when sand/dirt does get in there, it doesn't easily come out. I have had to clean out the mesh of older iPhone speakers too though, as they start to block the tiny air channels and create aperture distortion. (You can re-create this by partially covering the speaker on an iPhone or Samsung while playing speech material or anything predominantly in the 200-900Hz frequency.

I love Apple and have used many Samsung and other Android phones before I made the jump to Apple. I think just from this video that you're being a little too harsh on your grading system. I'd give it a B+! The few little things that bug you aren't necessarily a deal breaker for buying this phone. So what if you have to maneuver the phone into a different way on a non-Razer Qi charger? This is a gaming phone, so the camera and video recording may not be as important to the people who really want this phone. Also this phone comes with a fast charger, so I don't think that charging this for most people would bother them. However, I'd be concerned about the dust and sand or grit getting into the front facing speakers! I'd call customer service for Razer and ask them about that and what they might suggest that you do. Catherine Monsell I think mainly for a gaming device there are a ton of other options like tablets, laptops, and consoles. I keep gaming away from my main phone to do mostly the communication stuff, plus it’s way better for battery life to save those activities for the other options

I'm speaking from another point of view in why this could be the perfect phone for those who like to game on their mobile phones, where this would /could be a great option any my little counter opinions. I agree, the Razer Phone 2 is my secondary phone, I have an iPhone X so I don't need to take pics, and stuff with it. What I do however is watch Nexflix, KZbin and play a ton of games. The phone is AMAZING at playing games, That's what it was made to do. I wish people would look at it for what it is, and not what it should be. It's a phone with features that make GAMING its center. I've been using it non stop since I picked it up, and games look great on it. I'm sure if Razer could have released a phone without a camera, they probably would have.

The Pixel uses those bezels more than the Razer Phone does. The speaker grill on the Razer is mostly a design choice that makes the phone look like the speakers are on the whole top and bottom of the phone. The Pixel has an extremely similar speaker set up (and it sounds a bit richer) that also houses 2 cameras. Not to mention the bezels are also smaller in the Pixel.

@@Oceanray7629 Samsung is awesome now, just too many that are lazy and do not customize the device to their needs. For me I switch off apps I do not use, I disactivate animation scale bullshit. Put on a dark theme and limit the apps I install. Organize the folders and put widgets I find usefull. Never have any issues, have a much bigger and better screen, can expand the storage if I need to, can put in a headphone jack without needing stupid dongles that can get lost or break and no cut outs in the screen, bezels I cam accept. For me Apple offers too little for too much.

Peer Kristijan because you can do it from anywhere? And you can hook your phone up to a TV or all kinds of other things if you want. The possibilities are there, it’s merely a tool you can use. It’s one of the reasons the portable nVidia Shield still sells used rather well. Controller with a built in screen that you can stream PC games to. There are also companies that are working on whole platforms to let you stream games to underpowered devices. Because it does all the heavy lifting via cloud solutions and just sends the output to you device.

agree with everything but everyone sacrifices function for cool factors. Even apple does this. Not with an led logo but in other ways. We want higher resolution screens to sacrifice battery life. We want thinner phones despite them being easier to break and being harder to cool. We've been sacrificing durability and function for years now for a premium feel and look.

lol, ROG phone and Razor 2 r much more better. Snapdragon 845 and A12 can both handle every single u throw at it. How ever, gaming phones r made for gaming, they don't have a notch up ur ass when u play, they also have a headphone jack, or ship with a DOngLe. The ports also don't get in ur way when u play and charge or use the Jack, they are in the middle side of the phone.

I don't get why you defend the bezels on the razor phone, but you give hell to the pixel 3s bezels yet the pixels are slimmer and the speakers sound better. Not to mention the actual speakers are just as big as the pixels. I'm not hating, but I think you are way to biased against the pixel. I know that razer is a smaller company, but that doesn't excuse the huge price tag. If the razer 2 was $650, I would excuse the larger bezels and inferior camera. Great video btw.
