He can’t really show how to play this and other songs from the first Album bc they were written by Dave Mustaine. If Mustaine made a vid it would be good but the tempo of Megadeth’s Mechanix and Metallica’s The Four Horsemen are drastically different. So all you would need to do is just slow Megadeth’s version down a lot👍🏻

@@gurnblanston5000 every single solo from kill ‘em all was done by Dave and half to majority of the riffs were also mustaines, there’s also a reason why he took the four horsemen and put it in his first record and called it something else because it’s his song. Also Mechanix>the four horsemen. Both great songs but Mechanix is just pure thrash nothing else🤷🏼‍♂️

I thought Hit The Lights was Leather Charm song and the Phantom Lord or one of the "M" songs was from a JH band or his own tune. Has that history been made public by anyone in the know? BTW, is there a good detailed book on KEA years or anything 80s on Metallica or Megadeth? Not a s..ty book either. Thanks for making Dave's work more clear to me.

Yup you are right… and when playing master of puppets main riff… there are people who play the riff with four fingers so as to peddle the lowest pitch first fret with their pointer finger while still pulling off the riff. Then there are those who do not practice and so thus are never able to properly play the riff even once… because they station their pointer finger on the second fret and use only the three middle fingers to play the riff… as opposed to four fingers with pointer rooted on first fret. Also your picking tip here applies… as you would generally not only want to go down up down up… but also you would want to do what is called “palm muting” with your pick hand… thus muffling the low E string and also enabling you to go down up down up faster than if you did not palm mute.

One of the final skills to learn as a guitarist, is once u can economy pick, being able to accent either of those up or down picks however u want, so no one can distinguish between up or down strokes. Because in general playing, almost anyone can distinguish between up or down strokes, once u have enough Ferness to ecconomy pick and accent the up strokes. You’ve basically taken final form

As far as I know James plays it as DUDD but dave plays DUDU for mechanix(that's how he originally wrote it probably and James plays it his way)

I do it UDUD. But I'm starting to think they just do 16th notes DUDUD, and it's just the drums that do the triplet and it's too fast to tell the difference, but I'm just guessing.

Is there anyone else who struggles with that fast down up down before you hit the chord? I am able to play it couple of times, then I mess it up. It is driving me crazy. Any ideas on how to overcome this problem?

Slow down to the speed you can do it at perfect then speed up as you get more comfortable. Your wrists can tense up but after you have the riff memorized you will loosen up. Then you will speed up.
