Geo, your timing on putting this video out was perfect. My wife purchased a plasti-dipped bronze Razorine from Shave Nation as a gift for my birthday but I haven’t used it yet because I had some other items that I had ordered that I wanted to get before I used it. The last of those items came today and I was thinking I needed to watch another video on how to use the Razorine before I use it for the first time tomorrow morning. Then lo and behold I got the notification that you had posted this video. And you provided some good basic info on how to use it which I have not seen in the other videos I have watched. Great job!

Like switching to any other shaving implement, there is a slight learning curve. You can't one and done it... Gotta give it a few tries till you get the hang of it. Muscle memory is your friend.

This isnwhy I ALWAYS make sure the tang or shank is straight! Curved tangsnwith drop, loops or whatever, make it harder to index and get used to the exact curves of the grip and how much "micro positioning" of your hand can change your approach. so I just prefer straight tang/shank because its a faster learning curve and easy to index right off. Hat being said, I like thenlook of this shavette. I see many advantages to a straigt thin handle and taking full DE blades. looks great for a travel bag.

What could be better than drinking my Sunday morning coffee and watching shaving videos with a classic razor and hand tools! I have a request Geo, can you do a video on unscented products (pre shave oil, shaving creams, balm, etc.)? I have terrible dry, sensitive skin, and I have to be very careful about using anything with a fragrance or I break out. I made the mistake of using the mint Cremo one time; it was a slick shave that left me with what looked like a horrible sun burn on my face. Maybe you have one already and I haven’t seen it. Love the videos! Thanks.

@tbrew8222 Жыл бұрын
When you do, please show people the proper loading technique. I use one and have never once had an issue, but see that nobody in product reviews seems to have a clue and calls them dangerous. I also use scissors instead of snapping blades. In a turkish, it really helps to have that back edge NOT bend at the break. scissors, plus propper loading, and I have never found it hard, akward or dangerous.

If I’m keeping a hairless face and not letting my hair grow longer than a millimeter or so, is it okay to just shave against the direction of the hair right away? Or is it still recommended that I go down, across and then against?
@mangogaming92754 жыл бұрын
If you have tough skin you could try, but i recommend always doing 2-3 passes if u have the time, because if u do all 3 passes (with, across and against the grain) you minimize the risk of getting an unpleasurable shave, but if u have really tough skin i could recommend doing 2 passes, with and then against the grain, thats a good compromize for the shave to not take too long

Hi Geo. Hope you and the family are safe and well. How would you describe the aroma of the TOBS and the after shave - would it be herbal/floral or more akin to a smoking smell? Also, would the Razorine be considered a mild shave due to its weight? Thanks!
@geofatboy4 жыл бұрын
I would call the Razorine more medium than mild. You can get quite a close shave from it. The TOBS Tobacco-not a smoking smell, think before you light up, not after. With other ingredients intertwined.

@@arbernani4727 I have the one with the groves cut along the handle without a rubber coating and it is not really slippery. The issue may arise with the first version of the Razorine. You can use Alum on your fingers for grip (just don't get the alum mixed with your lather as the blade will grip).

does your shaved face seem to last longer with a straight blade before you need to shave again to maintain a clean face?
@geofatboy4 жыл бұрын
That's why professional barbers use replaceable blade straight/shavette razors to shave their clients.
@merrillquintrell93034 жыл бұрын
So I have to ask, what are the advantages of the Razorine over any good DE safety razor. One disadvantage I see is that you can’t just twirl it around in your hand and keep shaving with the other side of the blade. Really the only way to use the other side of the blade with the Razorine is to switch hands. What am I missing here?
@jfbrko2904 жыл бұрын
Honestly it's just an interesting twist on shaving. It combines the relative safety of a safety razor with the simpler design of a Japanese kamisori since it is all mainly one piece like those kamisoris are. It's a unique novelty item. It gets under the nose really well but if you shave your head at all like I do, it takes some getting used to. Sadly, it isn't quite as fast of a shave as a traditional safety razor either. I personally enjoy it because it is a bit of a challenge to use in terms of having to learn the technique you would use for a straight razor but using the technique for what is essentially a combination of safety and straight razor design.
@jfbrko2904 жыл бұрын
And you definitely are right about the disadvantage that you are seeing with it. You have to rinse out a little more often depending on which side of your face you're shaving.
