Thanks for sharing this useful content. When reading the Virkon S user manual, it looks like rinsing is systematic when dealing with surfaces?

On Choptima we learned to do a sterilization after each weekend of diving with a minimum of rinsing. I mix Steramine in a spray bottle. Disassemble, rinse with water, spray all surfaces with Steramine. Then pour some in counter lungs, cap and swish around. Let sit for a few minutes and then rinse with water again. I use deionized water for final rinse. To reduce chances of growth, I use 2 USB 120mm fans to dry everything as quick as possible. The dynamic Air pressure moving across parts is enough to cause rapid evaporation into air conditioned house air. Critical area of parts are usually dry in 15 minutes. I continue drying for 24 hours before storage

@psychobl15 actually I learned that you should let the steramine dry and not rinse it off.

@CoastalDevelopment it's actually part of the Choptima mfg procedures for sterilization. www.diverite.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/O2ptima-User-Manual-2020-CMCL-Rev-C-July-2021.pdf page 35. I feel the idea is to let it dry enough for sterilization but not enough to harm the components from repeated sterilization. We also sterilize after each dive weekend.

I was trained not to rinse. The streamline directions on the tablet bottle say not to rinse, Choptima manual up till Rev D from Aug 2022 still says to rinse with warm water. I heard by word of mouth over summer 2024 that Dive Rite recognized this discrepancy. Maybe Rev E of the manual will have an update? It's probably still fairly effective either way as long as the rinse water is clean if people that rinse aren't getting lung sick or lung infections, funny mold flavors on the loop, etc I guess.

Another one in the 'do not rinse' camp after using a Quat Sanitizer like Steramine or Virkon. The drying process is what helps the chemical to stick to and break down the cell walls of bacteria. If you have concerns with a left-over residue you can do a final rinse with distilled water, but ONLY after a full air-dry. Quat sanitizers are used widely in the food service industry, so practices there are the same.

Great videos I don’t no if you own any dive compressors if so could you make a video about them ?

If we ask Achim pretty please, there might be one to GO... can imagine that would be an awsome give away for all the fellow subscriber! Maybe Gus and Woody are generous...

Please do a video when you are diving with the Lar V

Because he will be diving dive talk GO with Gus and Woody end of the week! That one is spider safe.😂 Stay tuned for the Story, I hope there will be streamed experience coverage of this adventure! Keep fingers X for a safe test!

Why did You bring up the story with the spider. It´s just now that I started to be scared. 😬

Oxygen kills bacteria and fungus, so what about pressurizing the loop with 100 % O2 for a while?
