This video shows how to remove the manifold and change your intake manifold gaskets on a RB26. This video was done on my R32 GTR. You will need about 5 hours total to do this job taking your time and doing it right. Below is a link to the RB26 Nissan shop manual that I used for the torque procedure:

I've been doing this throughout the weekend. All to replace a few cracked hoses in the back of the block. It has been a headache! Happy Holidays.

Used this a few months ago when the engine was out, and now with the engine in I was doing a test crank and coolant is leaking from one of the hoses way towards the back driver side under the manifold so now I get to do this the hard way with it in the car today.

@@Grievas it's easy for me now, I removed the manifold so many times that now I could probably do it in 45 minutes. My fault for not replacing 1 hose when I had replaced all the others.

Awesome video! I discovered today that my intake manifold gasket (the big one) has a huge leak on cylinder 2. Your work looks good and you are a lot braver than I am when it comes to removing those studs. One thing that might help you in the future: Do not "T" into the boost reference line for the fuel pressure regulator. Instead use the tap on the back end of the balance tube which was originally for the OEM boost gauge. That leaves a clean boost reference for your fuel PSI reg.

Thomas I did move the t fitting to the back after this video but yea, it's pretty much inevitable that the paper gaskets will blow when running more than stock boost.

Mine is gone with stock boost! I'm going to source some of the metal gaskets like the HKS you utilized. I think the extra insurance is worth the cost difference.

I believe I'll be doing this soon, but was wonder if when doing this would it be the best time to replace the oil pressure switch, starter, remove the hicas pump, add filter relocation and anything else under there?

Brilliant vid. Iv just started taking mine apart, but the reason is slightly different, at the end of the vid you showed a bolt that needs to be bled for the coolant, on mine, when you undo it nothing comes out it’s blocked solid! Where and why do you think it would be blocked?

Great vid man, I am in the process of doing the exact same thing. The only thing I can not see on the video is the tightening sequence because the video is not clear enough to see it. I do not have the manual you have, if you could post the sequence on both throttle and plenum I would much appreciate it. Thanks, thumbs up

you can download them or you can email nissan in japan directly, they normally take a few months to reply but i've gotten alot of rb25 guides from them. I would personally look for an rb26dett guide online and then print it out or look at it on your phone, and if you cant find one resort to emailing nissan.

Thanks for the video, was extremely handy especially the tip about removing the center stud for the main manifold assembly. Just in the process of completing this on mine. Swapped all my vac, coolant and fuel lines as well as cleaning all the block, etc. I swear Nissan just figured you’d never do this job without pulling the engine as there’s zero consideration for access. At some point somebody had already done this job though as 2 of the 3 bolts for the vac ‘spider’ as i call it were missing. I elected to leave the 1 bolt i had out during reassembly since the block is clamped between the plenum and lower hose tube anyhow.

Mine has failed the smoke machine test so I will be doing this soon.... got a Tomei metal gasket kit but I really don't feel like doing it :( gonna be scratches all over my hands swearing and dropping crap into the abyss ....

Do you remember exactly what you used on the nut at 11:15? 1/4 or 3/8 drive? This is the last one I need to remove and am stuck on this one. I think I may be able to use a 1/4 low profile/shallow socket to get it off but wanted to ask what you used exactly. I have all the other 11 removed.

It was either a small 1/4” drive ratchet and socket or a small box end wrench, can’t remember. Once it’s broke loose I spun it off with my finger

I'm thinking about doing this as well, I have a gnarly leak on my #3 runner. Before I get into you said there are some gaskets other than the intake gaskets I'll need to have for the procedure, can you list what gaskets and hoses I'll need before I get started. I'm going to be working at a garage that's not mine so I can't have the car there for multiple days.

How did you torqued those bottom plenum nuts for #5 and #6 cylinders??? I can't get even close to them with torque wrench!

so did you remove the IAC at 9:20? If so, how difficult was it? I was under the impression that you couldn't get to the IAC without removing the intake mani. Thanks

Still looked like a pain in the D lol (but like you said compared to turbo swap). Do you think swapping the oil pressure sensor& oil cooler is possible to do Without removing the manifold? It looks like I may have to do this 👎🏻

Tom Kaos (Official) that would be extremely difficult to do without removing the manifold, especially if you are still running the HICAS as the motor would be in the way with the manifold in place
