This video is a perfect example to what "objective" fans be talking about when it comes to larry's style now. There was more bounce, groove, and flows within his style back then compared to now where everything is all robotic. I do like the part where you highlighted that as a "artist" your art evolves and never remain the same. There will be times where things will change and people will prefere your older art than your new.

What I love about watching Metal is that is that you get those moments of 'OHHHH' reactions but there are is just this time where he goes quiet and smiles and it seems like he is just silently saying 'I fucking love dance.' I mean this with all respect when I say it looks like a kid lighting up with speechless excitement. No content creation, no need to fill the space with words or commentary, just natural awe and excitement.

I think because of les twins endeavors (Revolution, Hennesey, other projects) Larry may not be labbing like he used to. And he doesn't come out of his comfort zone or experiment like Laurent does. I notice Laurent has taken up house dancing heavy lately and his flow is amazing. But one thing with Larry is his moves are so clean and sharpe and his animation style goes crazy. If he would groove and flow more it would take his dance to the next level. I also think he is more restricted in his movement when battling - like it's his battle mindset. Because when he dances in workshops he is way more free and artistic.

There is 2 points that I have that I think you might agree with too. I feel like Larry is in that "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality at this stage. I feel like he definitely is just stagnant by choice now, but even in Juste Debout 2019 I feel he was a lot more free and rangey. It looks seems like now he's limited in moves, because it looks like he only chooses a handful of moves to do. Like in his Only 4 war battles this year with Rubix, Kefton and Kuty, he was like an absolute new dancer. The second point is I feel like if Larry were to incorporate the bounce and flow he had in 2008-09 he might be unstoppable. If you haven't I would suggest you watch the twins in JD 08 vs Yungson and Tip, and then 09 JD vs Paul Ereyck and Physs. U will be absolutely mind blown when u see the differences he had from then till 2010 where it seems like he kept the same formula until 2014.

@@makesmartTROYces Right Fusion Concept 2019 is when his style started to shift. If you watch his freestyles from early 2019 he still had that sort of not animated/ over technical style. For example here is 2018 montreal larry kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnPcZailgJisapY compared to 2019 larry Montreal kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWrHZYSooZmCoNU

@@makesmartTROYces I agree. In those years he was so different. And now that Larry has watched Metal's reaction and critiques, if he actually takes it on board, the dance doctor would make such an impact. I have learnt so much from this channel about dancing.

One thing I notice about Les Twins that I see very few other hip hop and street dancers do is dance with their face. They incorporate facial expressions into their dance that provides more emotional insight into the performance. Far too many other dancers just remain expressionless, OR they just smile and laugh from time to time when they've done something they think the crowd should like. Les Twins, on the other hand, do it as part of the dance. Yes, they do the smiling and laughing at times, but again, they incorporate facial expressions more, including it just as much a part of their dance as the rest of their body. More dancers should do this. I also think this makes you look less like you're trying to think of your next move. It shows that you're actually immersed into the dance COMPLETELY. Having said that, yeah, I remember this Larry as well. When I first learned of Les Twins, Larry was the one I always checked for more. These days, I'm checking much more for Laurent.
@yannyowane795
@yannyowane795 2 жыл бұрын
You’re checking much more for Laurent because he’s finally finished his experimental phase. They both have those experimental phases all the time. Laurent was experimenting more in 2019 and beginning of 2020 where it felt like he’s not really flowing. Larry is going through the same phase. He’s experimenting isolation and house dance these days. Once he has everything packed, he can definitely go back to his groove and flow. One thing though in their workshops, he dances exactly like in this video. I think next year, he will master what he’s experimenting. That’s why I like them. They don’t get stuck.

@@yannyowane795 I've been following Les Twins many more years before 2019. Since about 2011/2012. It's not so much experimentation as it is a natural evolution. Larry was truly the stronger of the two for many years. Laurent just had a different dance style and approach altogether. It wasn't experimental, It's who he was/is as a dancer. He has just perfected it. Larry is still great, but Laurent's style just outshines his now in many respects. They're both world class dancers.
@IzUp2u8813
@IzUp2u8813 2 жыл бұрын
@@yannyowane795 I completely disagree. Already by 2019, Laurent completely changed is style from where he'd seemed stuck from late 2016 through 2018. He's been consistently on point since 2019, getting away from reliance on power (signature) moves, flowing, and with an otherwordly like control. Just go in order from early 2019 all the way through now, and you'll see it. Whereas Larry has been stuck (ok, experimental) since late 2018 through now.

@@daytona-x7b Hate to break it to you, but I'm not a LT fanboi. I'm a fan of dance. You can even find videos of my criticizing the Les Twins in the comments. With that said, art is completely about expression. It's a performance. So incorporating facial expressions into the dance is indeed art and can be a part of the dance performance. If facial expressions weren't part of dance, then many dancers would exclude it. Some do include it, and Les Twins are one's very consistent in doing so, and not due to any lack of dance expression. And for the record, I fully believe Larry got outdanced here by djylo. Have a good one.

You’re definitely right. He’s more loose here. However, I think that he’s been experimenting new things like isolation and house dance. He’s in that experimental mode like Laurent was between 2018-2019 where he was focusing too much on floor work. Now Laurent is grooving and flowing like crazy standing up or being on the floor. I believe once Larry get everything packed, we will definitely get back to the 2016-2018 Larry.

It's difficult to compare Les Twins then to now because they rarely get good songs nowadays or if they do it's at the end of a long tournament where they have to go out of their way to not use certain moves because they don't want to get penalized for repeating them. That may in fact be the difference in flow, simply keeping up and remembering every single thing you did in a tournament cannot be easy especially when you aren't doing routines or have a signature style. This is a strong advantage orthodox/traditional dancers have.

The way you wrote is like you’re saying that les twins can’t freestyle. That’s crazy as fuck. Larry can definitely dance like he’s dancing in this video, but he’s experimenting new things just like Laurent was doing in 2019 and beginning of 2020. Now Laurent has really found his style. Larry is also in that process . That’s why I appreciate them as dancers because they don’t limit themselves to rules of dancing. They are experimental dancers. Laurent is deadly right now. Larry will be deadly once he mixes all these things up. If you go to their workshop, Larry provides amazing flows.

@@daytona-x7b bro wtf Laurent losing to Madjid got to do with them experimenting and evolving. They are 35 and physically in shape to dance at a high level for about 5 more years. Madjid is a legend hip hop dancer, so it’s not offensive or insulting to lose against him even though I think Laurent still won that 3rd. Usually battle comes down to judges preference. Dance is art and there is no age that can stop you to still evolve. Tf you’re talking about. They’ve been in the scene and popular way more these other dancers. People have seen more of les twins than any other dancers in the community. That’s why sometimes it feels like they’re not moving. However, they are experimenting and evolving. That’s why they’re always either top 4 to win competitions.

@heitorlima6726 2 жыл бұрын
With all due respect sir, limited on footwork? That's one of the things I think he's a beast at, to me his problem is he is overly tight with his movement and really doesn't have that bounce feeling, which is an extremely important part of dance, but if you look at him technically like his dime stops, pops, footwork, concepts and etc... He is pretty much an alien, just lacks that artistical feeling to his dance.
