good informative video. I think there is another difference compared to debt mutual funds. In debt funds we can choose growth option and essentially not pay tax until we sell and eventually when we sell, it is inflation index adjusted and any gains over inflation are taxed at long term rates. Also we can choose to sell just a few units to meet our needs and majority of that sale could just be principle which is not taxable. So, actual tax payment could be miniscule.

Govt Bonds can also be purchased via brokers like zerodha. What are the pros and cons of using RBI retail direct vs using broker and demat based govt securities? More interested to know the cost, fees factor in both cases.

Video is informative. But how is the interest calculated? Simple or Compounded? How the interest is paid out? For example if I invest 1 lakh in SDL with 7.5% allotted interest for 10 years. How, how much and where the interest will be deposited?

This video like most of the videos on KZbin, is talking about theory which anyone can read and create a video ,the video covers more about the instruments then the platform. the biggest drawback of this platform is that the buyer of these bonds are locked up with the RBI platform only, let me state when you buy bonds through this platform you cannot sell this bond out of the RBI marketplace , this marketplace is manage why clearing corporation of India limited. the market available for bonds purchased through RBI are only tradable on the RBI platform, the bonds in RBI platform cannot be moved to your regular demat account where you are open to the stock exchange market for the bonds market. Technically it is possible to transfer bonds from this platform to demat account but it is practically not possible for a retail customer , this is done by the bond dealers who buy these bonds in very large volumes. hence if you want to sell these bonda or any other instruments purchased from RBI it can be done BSE or NSE. you cannot do that with the current arrangements. I had been requesting RBI since this scheme was opened in November 2021 but RBI officials have been giving a evading replies or assuring that they will make the portability of bonds/instruments from the guilt account to demat account held by the two depositories namely cdsl and NDSl. Hence purchase of bonds through this platform can only give you interest and you can only sell through the RBI platform where liquidity is much less than stock exchange. I am not sure whether this lady has actually opened the account and purchased or sold bonds through this platform before making this video.
