Do you think spinners are necessary for electric rc planes? I have a Turbo Timber Evo. and it looks like the ESC would get better air flow if the spinner was not installed.

So I have a Cessna I bought off someone getting rid of it extremely cheap and it weighs about 5.5 lbs with the engine. It’s got a .46 in it right now and I have a few OS .40s that weigh about 10 ounces or 287 grams, so before I pull this .46 off I’m assuming it weighs about 300 grams, so it’s just a bit heavier. I thought about keeping it nitro, but as much as my kids love coming flying with me and as much as they do NOT listen or pay attention, I’m thinking about making her electric. I was wondering if a 590 kv motor would have enough thrust to fly this baby with an 80amp ESC and 6s battery. I’m pretty new to all this but grew up in the late 80s early 90’s flying all nitro with my old man. Let’s just say I took like a 30 year hiatus and I’m just getting back into the hobby. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated and if you need more Info I’ll provide everything you want. Thanks again and keep making videos. You explain everything in detail but use layman’s terms which is good for people like me

How I got a understanding of what motor will power what size plane weight etc. Is started looking at planes I knew then I went to horizon Web site or who ever I was looking at and read up what size motor that plane had then figured out weight etc. However if your plane has a .46 on it now then you can look at motors that are advertised as a electric. 46 equal motor and see the weight and size of that motor then you know about what your looking for. Also several manufactures have this list like avain spektrum. Go to horizon click on one of the avain motors and then somewhere around where you down load the manual you can see the list of motors and each motor will say what pound plane on what battery it can fly and then after looking there you will have a good idea on what you are looking for. I hope that made sense. But to answer your question a electric motor set up to replace a .46 . Look for a 4260 550 Kv sometimes they call it a 4258 that is the size of the motor 42mm wide 60mm tall and with a 6s pack and 60 amp esc and a 51x6 prop will be real close for you

I just bought an Avian / Spektrum 60 Amp Smart ESC with the BEC built into it on the frontend it has an Orange and Black wire running into an IC3 Smart Plug and a wire that plugs into my AR8360T Spektrum 8 Channel Receiver that reads all telemetry? The Motor I chose for my FPV ANACONDA which T/O is roughly five to seven pounds is the Spektrum / Avian 5055-650Kv Outrunner with two 22.2V (3S-6S) 6500mah 60C the Motor recommends the 60 Amp Smart ESC with the BEC built in. The 60 Amp ESX and the Out-runner Motor three wires seem not to want to join together. It came with three gold pins but I’m not sure about that. Basically the three Motor wires will not connect to the three ESC wires. Any ideas? Thank you, Chad

It is possible that the size connector on the motor wires could be bigger. Those can be unsoldered and the right size put in its place. People do that often However keep in mind the manufacture of the motor felt that the current and amp draw required that size wire and connectors . So do your research to make sure that motor is not going to draw more than 60 amps and up to 80 amps in a quick burst. If you think the motor is going to pull more than the esc is set up for then you need to move up in the size of the esc. Most likely you can swap the connector size with no issues

What kind of electric motor would you recommend for a 59 inch wingspan wood frame plane, I think it weighs close to 6 pounds, any electric motor actually able to fly this thing?
@spindash64
@spindash64 5 ай бұрын
Your gonna want something between 500 and 1000 Watts, from the sound of it. It's gonna take a bigger motor, but you can definitely track down motors in that size range

There are alot of motors to fly that. The way I started learning about what size motor can fly whatever . Was to look at the planes we already know and them read the specs on it. Example the e-flite draco. You can look on horizon hobby website and see it weighs over 6 pounds and then see what motor it uses then you can look for the motor specs and see what size it is and what esc and battery it is called for. Also on websites that sell motors they will show all the info on what a particular motor can be used for

I really like your channel, more down to earth than some of the others. Maybe cuz I'm from FL I don't know 😆 🤣. Question, I have the 750mm P 51D by Volantex that I've nose dived it in and bent the shaft, also old motor mount. I have a motor and esc on the way, but I don't have a screw driver that will fit behind the old motor, what's the trick?🤔✈thank you for your channel and info. Just if I want to try to remove it later. Otherwise I can leave it as the new motor has its own mount

Hi there as you may or may not I'm out of town taking care of my mom so you tube is not a big priority right now. However you comment really has my attention. Is it the crash and something is bent ? Is that why you think you need a special screw driver? I don't know the motor setup on that plane but I don't think any plane would need a special screw driver find my email in the about section and send me some pics

@@GRIFFINRCPLANES Hi John, I hope your Mom is doing better. I found a hex screw on the rear shaft that allowed me to drop the mount away from the motor to get to the screws, problem solved! Thank you.

love your videos! one thing i wish you would do is when you find parts that work for you other than the stock parts that came with the plane please post the part # or the link to those parts to make it easer for us to find them if we need the same things for our planes. thanks for the vids and keep up the good work.

I havent had any subscription issues on your channel but i have been unsubscribed on other channels that i watch nearly every day so it definitely happens. I dont know if its because of updating or glitching in the software at the servers or what, but it can become annoying because the channel doesnt end up in your feed and requires you to search for the channel. It happened twice to me on one channel in two or three weeks.

Cheaper than nitro though, at least in my opinion. Dealing with fuel, engines, and mufflers becomes a mess and a pain in the ass. I started flying nitro in the late 80s with my old man and with electric I can take my boy pretty much anywhere with a nice sized field and no people to fly. Both have there pros and cons, but these days there are more pros than cons with electric. Plus you will always be able to switch motors and esc’s to different planes, and once you have a nice quiver of batteries, they become so much easier to maintain, but once again this is one mans opiniom
