Given that an airship has a lot in common with a submarine, I never under stood why airship designers abandoned forward (canard ) control surfaces so early on in development. The R101's men could surely have been saved by such a feature, and at the low airspeeds of dirigibles the overcontrol problems would not apply?

I now have the improved version of a "Windreiter" envelope with almost 600 liters of gas volume. My own concept only uses 2 hinged rudders - the third fin is rigid. But for this I use two motors with swivel gondolas and thrust differentiation. Should work, but I still have no idea how fast the airship will be.

thank you so much for the video and links on where to purchase the "Silent Windrunner" kit. I have contacted both links and I am waiting for response now. As an new young Aerospace student that wants to get into airship design I can not wait to tackle this project to help get me started.

What stops it from simply rising up to the ceiling and sticking there? I see there are rudders and throttle for forwards and left and right. I can't see how you control up and down. Great Zep.
@Inter-Action9 жыл бұрын
+72secondprize 1. weights. 2. There are three rudders: the upper one is for left/right, the lower ones for up/down and also for left/right.

@Inter-Action8 жыл бұрын
+Adib Harhouri No, the weight is fixed and just needed to prevent the airship from uncontrolled rising. The airship should be slightly heavier than air, so if something goes wrong with the RC you can easily pick it up. Otherwise it would go up and say good-bye forever.

It is called Octax, but I recommend to buy a ready hull here: shop.silent-runner.net/silent-runner/silent-runner-octax-hulle.html Manufacturer of octax and heptax is: www.aeroix.de/

ok i want to make my own hulls, that is why i need a roll.

the aeroix website doesnt work. ? no i am just looking to get back into blimp building, i made one before out of rescueblankets. i probably only need a few meters, a whole roll could be too expensive..

wrong- mars does have an atmosphere.
@jameselger5728 жыл бұрын
But, the atmosphere is thinner. Not enough, would have been more correct. But, I don't believe a rigid balloon could be constructed because, the atmosphere is too thin. Using helium and an ultralight helium design could work for low energy powered flight. But, I have other ideas. Atop of mount everest, is allot harder.
@drumking2418 жыл бұрын
yep, i almost mentioned it being thinner but didnt, the only thing it needs to be is lighter than the atmosphere around it, i know nasa engineers but build something lighter say made out of mylar, but im not very knowledgeable on gases but i would think there something they could use thats lighter that a complete atmosphere, ive heard of large winged high lift drones being talked about before, something like that might be more practical

I dont know, if youre making an archer-reference here, but yes. Helium doesnt burn as it is a noble gas, while hydrogren can burn and even explode.
