I just came across this channel while trying to learn how a quadcopter works. I know these videos are eight years old, but this guy seriously deserves more love. The sheer amount of effort he puts into these videos are genuinely worthy of a full course on Udemy or some similar platform.

Hey, I’m new to this, and I’m a bit confused. So what if the motor has only two wires and no plug? How do you connect it to the esc? Or are there different esc’s for that type of motor? Thanks.
@Painless3604 жыл бұрын
If it only has two wires then it's a brushes motor and you need a brushed ESC.. Best of luck!

hey. is it possible to connect 4 motor in 1 channel with esc? I'm planning to make all wheel drive rc car. which is consist of 4 motors. is it possible? and how?
@Painless3603 жыл бұрын
Yes but then you can't control each of the servos for steering and other cool tricks. You could connect all of the GND and signal wires from the 4 ESCs into the throttle channel on the Rx but you'd also have to carefully calibrate them so they operate at the same power levels and speed. See my cars and trucks playlist for more tips...

Hey hi I am a huge fan of your video I have some doubts Why does my lipo battery (lemon 2200mah,11.1volt,3s,30c) spark continuously while i try to connect to my esc (30a (deans connecter)) Maybe is it because of friction I am actually making a plane And I am using the battery mentioned above and the 30a esc and 2 servos and a 2200kv brushless motor And do u have any idea of the total flight time

A small spark as you connect the battery is typical as the capacitors in the power system charge quickly. Sparking after the first touch is a sign that something is very wrong.

Is the amount of rotation a setting or a max limit? I watched again, and I would like servo control like the motor speed control, i.e. non spring loaded position control, I want to push the joy stick down and it stays, servo is to far left, move joystick up 1/4 and servo moves 1/4, move joystick to middle and servo moves to center position.

I am a noob here in the RC world. Some electronic, radio and telemetry training and experience in other fields. Your explanations have made it clear to me, without stating it explicitly! Do I in fact understand that the RC communication link is one-way, that is, from ground to the aircraft? It seems that in the case of servo only control, say a glider, the Pilot is the feedback loop. In the case of a multirotor UAVs, and intelligent motor speed control, the Pilot is aided by a programmed flight controller that contains its own control logics, such as PID control, and of course ESC control for the motors. Finally I ask how is telemetry handled? I thought at least some basic telemetry was transmitted back to the ground, to be displayed on the RC controller. And optionally more telemetry using a separate radio/antenna system. Thanks for your valuable efforts.
@Painless3603 жыл бұрын
Most modern links are two way now so that you can get telemetry data back to the radio (see CRSF, SmartPort and others). There are options for separate telemetry but those are usually used for more professional rigs.. Happy flying!

Would it be possible to have one stick control a motor and steering and other stick to run another motor and steering of different servo for a tugboat so can have one motor going forward and other motor going in reverse and the same time for sharp turning if using 2 secs? Thanks
@Painless3605 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. You need a radio with a flexible setup though. Radios that use OpenTX or JumperTX would be to do it easily. See my OpenTX mix school videos.. best of luck!

Very good video. Can you help me with some answers? I have a mc6c transmitter and receiver and it have a battery alarm. This is for plane battery alarm or transmitter battery? Ived had some tests and used a 2s to power a 30 A esc and transmitter and the alarm is running when i power on. The ESC measure the power level and it send to receiver and then send to transmitter?

Usually a battery alarm is for the model so you can know when the battery is low and it's time to land/stop and recharge.. Best of luck!

I am confused about the electronic piece between the battery and the receiver. I set my model up with a spectrum radio and orange receiver without that piece. Why would I need that component and what purpose does it serve? what is the name of this part.
@Painless3609 жыл бұрын
+Cayrick Pan That piece is a battery eliminator circuit or BEC. It reduces the battery voltage to a steady 5v that the receiver needs. Please see my 'Introduction to RC' playlist for more videos that cover the basics. Best of luck.

IM NEW TO BUT AS ALL THE OTHER VIDS IF YOU DONT FLY YOU HAD IT. I GOT MY MODEL TRUCK BATTERY CONECTED BIG WIRES TO SPEED CONTROLER. BIG WIRES TO MOTOR. THEN SMALL RED AND BLACK TO ON OFF SWITCH. AND THE 3 WIRES TO RECIEVER POWER PINS THERE BOUND BUT ONLY CHANEL ONE WORKS AND I ALSO NEED TO MAKE THE MOTOR TO TURN OPOSIT WAY FOR REVERSE I GOT A TGY 9X WITH THE9X BC V2 RECIEVER. ALL I GET IS SQUEEK FROM SPEED CONTROLER AND FLASHING LIGHT

Neil Harrison why all the shouting! ;) These videos may help - kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqPEd5qfeap_oKs and kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYDTnZ5rZ7dnpNE The RC power systems and principles on car, boat, planes, multirotors and even helicopters are the same. Maybe you can start a channel sharing tips for those interested in the ground based vehicle part of the hobby? Best of luck.

is the radio configuration step necessary! can it be disabled? because i don't have a controller or replace it with a gamepad
@Painless3603 жыл бұрын
I've never tried it any other way. Best of luck

this helps understand the concept but its very specific for airplanes, its hard to find something for a wire setup to make a car

Also how do I program the flight controller? What programming language should I use?
@Painless3606 жыл бұрын
That depends on the flight controller, please see my build videos for step by step instructions of how to set them up. Best of luck

Thank you. When powering the receiver does this also mean the motor is connected to the receiver through the signal line through the esc

Indirectly, yes.

I am very new to RC so bear with me, your videos are extremely good at learning this very quickly. I am looking to use two motors with a single hand controller to add to a paddleboard a bit like an e-bike but for a paddleboard!! If I have two motors that are max 20A, can I connect these with just one ESC that is rated at 60A, or am I better having 2 ESCs one for each motor and then how do I connect them to a simple single hand controller, another reciever board or use another channel? I know this is a slightly bonkers idea but its for someone that has problems with their shoulders so can't paddle for too long.
@Painless3602 ай бұрын
You need one esc per motor... see my other basics videos... best of luck

@@Painless360 thanks, I think I will need as much luck as I can get but hopefully it will work.

I don’t see this covered, but the antennas are different lengths based on different frequencies. Higher frequency has a shorter wavelength, and the antenna needs to change length to match.

Yep, see my FPV Antenna Lab series.. Happy flying

Ok I am new to all of that and have a question for you... is it an FM or AM transmitter in the controller? Since the drone will have to send videos to the my phone in case I use it as a controller do I have need a transceiver instead of a reciver for the drone ?
@Painless3607 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you're new to the hobby indeed. Lots of fun things to learn about and we cover all of it in the 'Introduction to Remote control' and Introduction to FPV' series on the channel. Hope they help get you started.. Best of luck!

Hi I have a 2 channel rc transmitter of a rc car but I lost the rc receiver. Can you help me in making receiver 27mhz. Circuit diagram, parts etc
@Painless3607 жыл бұрын
No idea about that, sorry. Radios are a lot less now than they used to be so replacing the setup with a modern digital system may be less than you think.. Best of luck!

Hi is it possible for me to get two forward and back separate commands from the left and right joysticks? As in for a tank
@Painless3606 жыл бұрын
Sure is. Some radios would be easier than others if you wanted a mix that meant you controlled the treads using a rudder and throttle..
