Nice work and congrats to the winners. I really wanted to participate but life happened and didn’t have the spare time. Awesome to see Jordan on here, he’s the man! He inspired me when I was a young kid to build my first one. Thanks for sharing

Very nice job on your 2023 competition Pascal and to have Jordan Krupp on is a surprise. An other great builder that inspired me to make an r/c sled. What I like in this hobby is that we inspire each other "back and forth" no mater the skill levels we have. Hope you make an other one next year. 😉

I really liked this. For next year, I think it would be cool to split the competition up into two parts, 1 for modifying existing working sleds (toy to hobby grade, etc.) and the other for scratch built machines. I plan on participating next year.

If there would have been more entries that's what I would have done but 5 people it's kind of easy to sort through

I loved the number 1 sled. Number 2 looked very rough and I have no idea what was moving around in there during steering action. Looked like something was alive. But I agree to it as being number 2 because I bet it was a lot of work and all kind of worked. The other two Looked much better than number two but that was ofcourse not done by those guys but that was the look of the original model. And the number three was also the right choice to me compared to the other. I myself am building the first skeeride at the moment. It is not a sophisticated as your designs but the moment I decided to want a snow mobile for myself (that was after watching your videos of scotty) I hoped something would be available from you. Back then the only thing you had for sale were the kits to convert some of the toy snowmobiles. Since I live in the southwest of the Netherlands we have almost never any snow and if we do it is a few cm and will be gone within a few hours. Therefore snowmobiles are just not existing here and rc versions also are not. I searched online to find me a new or used model of a toy snowmobile and when I finally found a few it turned out those shops did not ship it to the Netherlands or would be so expensive that I was not going for that. Same for some ebay finds of a few used ones. So then I decided I would do it myself. For my work I design mostly big heavy stuff for the offshore industry in 3d cad programs and I have a 3d printer. Downside was that I have many many rc projects still unfinished, a 7 year old daugther, a wife and other obligations to attend now and then so real rc hobby time is limited. I started to look for a real snow mobile to use as an example. Went for some Yamaha mountain sled for deep powdersnow. Found top side and front pictures and used them as a template in the cad program to trace the shape. From the first looking for pictures to being busy with the first steering ski design I was multiple hours in and came to the conclusion that this was not gonna work. It would be very time consuming and as soon as wintersport holiday would be over my focus would be on other rc projects and things. With spring in the air the mindset would be on garden work and getting the real boat ready for the season and doing maintenance on the exterior of the house. The summer holiday and getting rc jetboat, cars and planes ready for the holiday etc. And then 1 or 2 weeks prior to the wintersport holiday to France or Austria the snow mobile would pop back into my mind and without time to finish it it would take years to complete it. A total new design would not be perfect the first time so multiple itterations would be needed and can only get tested right on holiday and every design change would take another year this way. So it would be a much better plan to buy some plans. Started looking online and found skeeride. I did not like the low poly body very much but all better than nothing. Bought those files and since I can work at home half of the time the printer can run all day with longer prints while I can work at the same time. So printing it was going pretty quick. I did a steering upgrade the day before we left for wintersports because the original setup looked very fragile to me. And it was because the first landing on the ski's after a test wheelie on the carpet make them break. The in house designed upgrade worked very well during the holiday. An upgrade was already available that also took care of an other issue. The ski's steered both outward when suspension was pushed in. Long story short, It is a very fun rc rig that gives me a smile on my face. A new snowmobile with better new body and with beld drive is also available now. So I am very happy with the sled but still think you designs are a bit more sophisticated. Keep going. I like your video's.
