I wonder it the ottsix would have done better on the smother surfaces if they were washed first. The come coated with a oil based release agent on them from the factory to get em out of the molds. Great video

@@RoadsideRC no. my buddies use mostly pitbull rockbeast. I think thats my next set of rock tires. we have a lot of shale and my buddy told me his hyrax in that area, similar built trx4 sport, do not grip well in that spot. It's a HUGE 5 mile long shale beach. we have 3 within an hour of us, all similar size.

I have had good luck with them! Typically, Pro-line Predator compound does seem to have better grip overall though. That is why I have gone to using them mostly.

I have literally NEVER worn-out a crawler tire. It is starting to be my standard to just purchase the Proline Predator compound because of this.

@@RoadsideRC Yeah comp spec would be the way to go but was curious how these "cheaper" ones were. I was also curious how the trail spec compared to the cheap Amazon KLRs and if it was worth getting the trail specs over the Amazon knock offs. I have a couple sets of the Amazon knock offs and they actually surprised me for $19 a set! I have a few proline predator compound myself (KM3, Hyrax, Super Swampers and Krawlers) they are my go to. I have a few jconcepts as well. You know how it is, though, tires are just one of those things in this hobby I love trying all I can get my hands on lol

Tell your assistant he's doing a great job. I'm wondering if the lack of tread down the center is an issue with the Amazon tires causes the grip issue? I'm sure there a theory behind it, but I'm not sold on a a completely empty continuous strip in your contact patch.

@@RoadsideRC the foams that come with them have a chemical in them that makes them act like a memory foam, really not ideal. If you take then out and wash out that chemical, they don't do too bad

I run the Deepwoods myself and love them. I think they are the best crawler tire for the value. Unless you need it to say bfgoodridge for a scale truck I would choose the DW. The come just tires no rims and in 1.9 and 2.2.

Its kinda not fair as the new tires are bigger more clearance the Amazon were the smallest and did just as good if they were as tall they would of won. Clearance is the biggest problem crawling

Interesting! I actually disagree that clearance is most important. My crawlers have all gotten better as they get lower. Center of gravity - both forward/backward & vertically is very important for the performance of a crawler. Yes, in general 2.2s can have an advantage over 1.9s - but some of these test are simply about traction, not about clearance.

Thanks for the comment! I haven't really found this to be true, personally. The rubber appears stickiest straight out of the box. The foams continue to change throughout their life.

Roadside RC I do like mine. And I have tried a fair amount if others including modifying stick canyon trail tires. So far they are the best rock climbers for me....however they do pack up in mud and lose their advantage.
