RC Drift Missile - Beer Torch Rolled Fender Mod 1/10 Silvia

I guess the spoilers are right in the title. I got a random idea to roll my fenders after they kept hitting my tires during my last few practice sessions. I changed the offset on the rear down to 6, then back out to 9, but I still was not a fan of the look. So, I noticed how close in size the wheel opening was to an aluminum can. With that in mind, I grabbed one out of the recycle bin, snatched my kitchen torch for a little expedited heat exchange and then proceeded to attempt this for the first time on my drift missile.
Thankfully, it worked out exactly as I had hoped, melting just enough to be effective with no mess or issues. You can likely do the same thing with a heat gun and will probably greatly reduce the risk of something going wrong. I have one but wanted to try it with the torch so I could get it done and get on my way to the track. Watch as I roll both fenders in just a few minutes with only the shell, the can, the torch, and these two hands.

This is the process I used, and you may not experience the same results. I cannot be held liable if you attempt this and ruin your shell, chassis, or burn down your home. I think it’d be cool if you make a tutorial on the techniques you used for this whole build, as I am going to attempt a drift missile kind of build and want to go for realism and give it the same look as your car does

Hi @frankiesrcs8116, thanks for watching. Initially, I used a combination of brown and gold paint markers on the outside, which allowed me to adjust the amount and pattern if I wasn't happy with the look, as it can be cleaned away with rubbing alcohol. However, after seeing how it turned out, I want to add some texture to it. I picked up some iron ore powder and a slow drying glue (Elmer's), which is also peelable if I didn't like it. I lightly put some glue around the holes, let it drip slightly (or drag it where you want with a coffee stirrer) and then lightly sprinkle the iron ore powder into the glue. Once I had finished that process, I sprayed it with a rust activator and let it sit overnight. Voila, real rust the next morning. I have a video in the works to show this process, look for it soon!
