Love the tutorial TeamIngel. Hope more ppl will start building a CC01. Its really an underrated crawler.

Maybe try the Ultra Compact reduction gear box from RC4WD (Part No. Z-U0012). This will fit in without modification of the gear cover. Before I had the reduction gear set, I was running my CC-01 with a 80t truck motor. But I think, a 55t will also be fine. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment!

pretty cool idea. One thought if you were to grease the gear reduction unit wouldn't it cut down on the noise issue

You're right, greasing the gears will definitely lower the volume. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment!

The first few month there was a 80T installed. But you still get a lot more torque by using the reduction gear unit.

I've been looking into GRU and there aren't many options. The hpi GRU has no specs on line, could you tell me how long the unit is? Not the shaft included just the length of the gear housing.

The roof rack is from 3racing (3Racing Steel scale roof rack 1/10), bought this on ebay. The light bar is from Topcad (Alloy Roof Sport Light type II).

@TeamIngel10 жыл бұрын
Darth Vader I'm using a winch from 3racing on all of my trucks. It's called "3Racing Automatic Crawler Winch #CR01-27" and it comes with all the needed screws and the fairlead. I just mounted the winch to the stock front bumper. Thanks for watching!

Well, my BJ40 doesn't drive at the moment because alle the gears and drive shafts are totally worn out. I think I'm going to make a chassis by my self in the future. Now I use some parts in my self made steadicam and that works pretty well. So that's how my BJ40 ends so far...

Hi, is it possible to achive this by using the default Tamiya ESC? I think it can't give enough power to the motor right?
@TeamIngel10 жыл бұрын
You should have no problem when using a standard Tamiya ESC. I'm using a 540 silver can motor together with the HPI gear reduction unit, so a stock Tamiya ESC will be totally fine. Thanks for watching.

Does this gear reduction unit affect the running time?
@TeamIngel9 жыл бұрын
Jack Edmondson It depends on what motor you were using before installing the GRU. I'm using a standard silver can motor together with the gear reduction unit and with a 3.400 mAh Lipo-Battery I have a runtime of about 2 hours. Thanks for watching!
@BJ40films11 жыл бұрын

@TeamIngel10 жыл бұрын
Max McCormack I'm running a standard silver can motor with a speedstar 2 crawler esc from robbitronic. My energy comes from hardcase lipos with 3400 mAh. But because of the gear reduction unit I only get a top speed of 3 mph / 5 km/h. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment!
@maxmccormack654510 жыл бұрын
can you make it better and a littal faster by putting a tekin t35 motor
@TeamIngel10 жыл бұрын
Max McCormack Hello Max. I don't think, that the Tekin 35t will bring you more speed, because the standard silver can motor has around 27t. But maybe the motor will run great without using the gear reduction unit. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment!

@TeamIngel11 жыл бұрын
Hello Alexis. I'm using a standard 540 silver can motor together with a 20T pinion gear. With this combination my CC-01 runs about 3 mi / 5 km per hour. If you reduce the pinion gear to 16T, you will have a little more torque, but you also have the reduced top speed. You can compensate this with a faster motor, but I think that the torque you get with the 20T pinion is really enough. Thank you very much for watching and for leaving a comment!
