You can still use the plastic battery hold down with two 3s hard case batteries. All you do is release the clip and pull it up just enough to clear the batteries. There is enough length on the rods to keep it in place after unclipping it, and it will hold the two batteries down better than just using the straps or adding Velcro.

Crazy at this point Arrma or a 3rd party doesn't make an extended battery clip would be so nice to have. Though you can place it back on top of the battery and the metal sliders still engage, it's not as good as the intended use but it does help.

Hey Vas, you going to like what I have to tell you. Just got off the phone with my contact at Arrma in the UK, and apparently in the near future, Arrma will switch to the new DX3 Smart transmitter for the high end models that normally came with DX2E Smart, and models that came with STX2 now comes with STX3. Why is this important? Well, I just got my LHS to include a DX3 Smart for a DBXL-E 2.0 I just ordered, and while the internals are very much DX2E, it now features a foam covered wheel as well as better ergonomics. My guy at Arrma also claims that the new DX3 has better range. If they have improved the range in the same way as they have on my DX6R, it's pretty impressive. The same goes with the STX3, and the resolution of the STX3 has supposedly been improved over the STX2. So no more issues with poor dual rate adjustment etc. Lastly, the foam steering wheel off the DX3 Smart can be retrofitted to the DX2E:)

Did your guy at ARRMA also tell you which models that will be? Maybe a new Kraton v5? 👀😉

You can actually use 2 big 3S hardcase packs and keep the lip when you mod the battery tray a little bit. To modify it, just do the following: - remove the battery tray from the car - remove the lip. You will see that the little nose/hook that holds it in place and stops it at the top is running in a gap in the tray - extend this gap a little further to the top as much as you need it. I just took a hobby knife and cut a little bit into the plastic on the top left and top right corners (a few millimeters). Then I tore the middle plastic piece away with pliers. - look if the lip is now going up far enough to use your packs. If not, redo the last step - when they fit, put your battery tray back into the truck and you are done I personally have done this on mine and now run 2 Arrowmax 3S Hardcases (37mm height per pack) together with the lip without issues.
@AussieRCPlayground4 жыл бұрын
That would mean the metal rods would only be in their holes a couple of millimeters, so I can't see keeping the lid on all that functional. But if it works for you, then it works. 👍
@tow_glinka32344 жыл бұрын
@@AussieRCPlayground Well, I just measured it. In my case (2 x 37mm high packs) the rods are still 15 millimeters inside. I mean I haven't bashed that hard yet (I am only a few packs in with my Kraton). On the other hand, it seems to still be stable, and most importantly: This mod doesn't have any negatives. You are right, if you put the lip further out, it may loose some stability, but it still we be more stable than not having it at all. And when using smaller packs it won't impact stability at all, as in that case nothing changes compared to earlier.

Well, those batteries aren't available in Australia, so I would never have known that. But this was just a tip or a chest to fit larger batteries, and there are hundreds of different ones out there, so hopefully it will help some people out who didn't know you can take that lid off. 😊👍

Remove holder. Place batteries in. Replace holder. It will not click back into place but you can simply use the horizontal velcro strap to hold it down on top of the batteries. Simple.

Actually, doesn't the caveat also apply to the Talion? I've tried it with the dual 3s batteries I have, which look similar to what you have. I think they hit the body as with the Typhon you mentioned.

@AussieRCPlayground3 жыл бұрын
Apparently the Spektrum 3S batteries are slightly smaller and will fit in the tray, however, given how tall they will be on top of each other, I still doubt the body will fit. I would suggest trying it out in the store before paying for your packs.
@FalcoINC3 жыл бұрын
@@AussieRCPlayground Thanks. Yeah I called Horizon and told them I bought the recommended Spektrum x2 3s lipo/charger bundle they promote for the typhon on their website and ended up calling the tech support and asked if they even fit.

@@FalcoINC I just ordered the same thing. Mine will be here Thursday. Have you had any luck with the body fitting ?
@FalcoINC3 жыл бұрын
@@mikefreetage6808 I dont actually have access to the typhon yet. Its from Santa to myself lol. But I called Horizon and asked the lady if Spectrum 3s x2 lipos fit in the Typhon because that is what they sell as the power stage pack drop down menu for this car on their site. She had a tech actually go back to the warehouse and try to put the two 3s Spektrum batteries in the car and she said they couldn't even get the body back on :( I told them they need to remove that add on for that particular arrma car or put a note somewhere that you cant run them in series with the body on. You should be able to contact them and tell them you bought the same bundle and would like to return/exchange them. I ended up buying the Smart charger and a single 6s smart battery which should fit given the dimensions of the Typhon tray.
@FalcoINC3 жыл бұрын
@@mikefreetage6808 Just an update on this. Horizon basically told me I'm out of luck and that they don't accept returns on batteries. I wrote back to them saying that this is pretty crappy service since we literally ordered their recommended power pack bundle they advertise on their website for this car. Ill see if they follow up.

If you connecting them in parallel, yes. If you're connecting them in series, no. "Series" means you'll be running 6S and that won't work in a 4S car unless you've upgraded the power system to be able to handle 6S.
