As the old saying goes, to finish 1st,1st you must finish. Sound advice from the man.

I will say that attitude can make or break you as a racer. I started racing about 6 years ago when I was 9 years old, and for the first 3 years I was kind of a hothead. There was a point in time where if I wasn’t winning I didn’t want to be there. But over the last 3 years I almost completely worked out my attitude and I had so much more fun racing. If i make a mistake it’s not a big deal anymore, like my dad used to say put your head down and drive. If you can get your attitude strait you will be a much better driver.

Love it. Something I tell myself to keep from driving over my head is “slow is smooth, smooth is fast”. Giving it 90% and not crashing in a race is faster than giving it 100% and crashing a few times.

One of the things that helped me over the years is to have the car set up for consistency rather than for the hero lap, so i usually have a car with very slight understeer, cars with great steering tend to bite. Edit: this in turn gives confidence allowing you to focus on your driving

Now, that was a thoughtful video! Thanks so much! I have no plans to go racing, at least not in the immediate future, however I suspect trying to cultivate a calmer, more relaxed mindset will increase my enjoyment even just banging around the empty parking lots or parks where I run my truck. All the best for 2025!🙂

Came back after five years. I think one thing that helped me possibly was doing different disciplines, starting buggy then doing on road. I think racing 21.5 has helped me retain muscle memory coming back into buggy. Subbed. Very well narrated channel!

Thanks for the video. Had shocking race day on the weekend. 3 DNFs racing novice was taken out hard in race one didn't realise I had broken rear pill and drive shift kept popping off.Didn't realise till end of race 3. Got help from the locals. Lucky I'm in a great club. But just couldn't shake it off. I don't live near a track so when get to go I get really excited. When it's bad day it's crap. Long drive home. Thanks again.

I understand that, lot of the tracks here in GA are quite spread out. The more you do it the less nervous you'll get. :)

Some cool tips on this video, thanks! I couldn't help but notice that you are using the FlySky NB4 which has been on my radar. You should do a review video on it and let us know your experience with it so far and maybe compare to some other radios you have used also.

That's actually a friend of mine filming. he's the one using it, I still use my old Futaba 4pls. Though that is a very good idea. Everybody who's switched to it so far though have all loved it so take that as you will.

I've been racing for almost 3 years. I've found most fast guys, won't tell you all there secrets. I've gotten faster, and am pretty fast in sportsman. I am looking to go to the next level, and that part seems to be a secret... We have a trophy race at my track this weekend, I will be racing etruggy, ebuggy, and nitro buggy, not sure where you are located? But it's a great track, in a park, with the track layout built by Bobby Moore, owner of RCTrackMasters, (he builds, PNB, Wicked Weekend, and a few others. The track is wicked fast and it flows well. Check it out on my channel! WCRC is my home track in Wilkesboro Nc. Cool vid man!
