Wow!That is the smallest gas conversion I have ever seen,should be a very rare engine,should be great in an old timer,lucky you captain Blaz.

Glad it survived the trip over! The conversion was done about 1980 by Otto Bernhardt. I hope the RC carb will clear the timer. You will have to pull the CL venturi out to install as I am sure you know. Have fun with it!
@johnkelinske14496 жыл бұрын
The carb was hard to find, came from a friend up in Kentucky. It is new, but he didn't have the packaging for it. It was free too!

John Kelinske. Videos like these are getting me closer to putting up an internal combustion engine. Going today to pick up a fiberglass fuse Spitfire. Very nice motor John. Very cool.

Thanks again for this masterpiece of an engine..i can already see it on a plane...
@1unaffiliated16 жыл бұрын
I was thinking if the timing arm is too close to the carb, you could shorten it or make a new set screw for it...Won't know until you get it running...

Converting to gas:- Heavier, runs hotter with less power and needs battery in flight. All of the things that made the gas fliers of the 1950's ditch it for glow. What a strange world

Hey I have a new Fox 35 stunt engine that I bought back in the 70s if you would like to have it! I don't fly control line planes anymore but you can adapt a carburetor to it!

Wondering if the RF noise from the coil and spark will interfere with the radio reception.You guys ROCK!!!!Thanks for all you do!!!!Maui LOVES you guys!!!You boys have the ALOHA SPIRIT!!!!!
@johnkelinske14496 жыл бұрын
You can get around it fairly easily, plus the new radios are nowhere near as sensitive to it as even radios back in the 60s and 70s were.
@williamahchan14846 жыл бұрын
thanks John I'm a ham operator and understand how to suppress rf noise with ferrite chokes and antennae placement!just would'nt want ANYTHING to happen to that BEAUTIFUL engine and a/c because of signal loss!!Aloha from maui!!!billy
@johnkelinske14496 жыл бұрын
You got it! I think you put like a 10 ohm resistor in the circuit between the coil and the plug but I'd have to go look at the drawings again to be sure I have that correct.

Something I didnt know about thats for sure!I bet David McIntire has one eh? I wouldnt know how to thank John for something like that. It is very cool. The amount of work that went into comming up with that design had to be amazing. I saw on line where someone was converting another engine to spark, but Its nothing like that. I think I saw it on You- Tube somewhere.Nowdays anything is possible but back then, it was stone knives and bear skin technology. Lol. Imagine setting that up in 1940 while finding out Pearl Harbor was being attacked. Mabe even being out at the airfield already, getting your plane setup to fly and one of your buddys comes up and says he hears it on the radio on his way to the airfield. Amazing!
