They are a bit different to fill you use a measured amount of fuel as the fuel and exhaust dont come in contact with each other .

Maybe an obvious question but would the sponson designs angles etc… apply to a hull with an air trap?

You mean with a more traditional break? Yes, there are several here that run extremely well and flat with minimal attack angles

@@M5PerfHydros I may be using the term wrong. Maybe tunnel is more accurate than air trap. Where the non trips extend lower than the bottom of the boat full length of the after plane. The attack angle not being over aggressive I understand with your rock skip analogy. I’m curious if the dihedral angles and sponson depth and width and ride pad lengths would behave the same on a boat with this tunnel compared to one without this tunnel. You’re probably thinking “this guys an idiot” lol.

Actually you're making a lot of sense, so don't beat yourself up too much! I've not thought about what effect that might have, but it's an interesting thing. First thoughts... It's possible that the hull design you describe would hold a bit more air (and thus lifting pressure) to the rear of the hull which would theoretically help it hold a more level attitude, and perhaps this would let you use slightly more attack angle. More attack angle means a little better pop-up from low speed, which is good, plus a little less contact area at speed, which is also good. But you'd still have the issue of overreaction in the rough. Hmmm. I guess I'm thinking you might have a boat that is quicker overall, but probably more "dancy" as well. Dang man, my brain is starting to fry. I'll get another cup of coffee and give it some more thought.

Are you related to Merlin Nichols? I emailed the patterns to him several days ago. But here's a sharable link anyway. It didn't fit on a single sheet, so print each page and overlap them to see the entire parts. Ah, unfortunately no, I did not make patterns of the bulkheads. Which is odd, because I normally make patterns of all the parts. Hopefully you can glean enough information from the video to make those yourself
