Good tip , I think shoe goo is what it we have in the US , and I use it to reinforce the bodies along with some tape . I’ll have to give it a try because the ca glue can be nasty to work with . Thanks Mark

Oh, Mark, this is good timing with this video, I need this! I actually already got me some flexible glue, I learned that from another video, but so far I've just been adding dabs of it, so most of the glue is probably in a blob inside the wheel... Distributing the glue really well and putting the tyre with that method and spinning to distribute even better. that all makes so much sense it makes me feel stupid to not have figured this out myself, but that's why it's so necessary that experienced guys like you keep making these basic tutorials, very much valued! Bonus comment, I like how even you, native English speaker, is also inconsistent in your spelling of Tyre/Tire!
@MarkBryanRC
@MarkBryanRC 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mads - I'm so pleased you found this video useful - music to my ears! Yes, I have glued on so many tyres over the years, and practice makes perfect - well, as good as I can get anyway! Oh - the spelling of "tyre"?!?!?! Yes, I did that on purpose, as I know that many people will search for videos like this using the American spelling, "tire". As I work in a school and teach English, this feels alien to me to use what I consider to be "incorrect English"!!! But I want to capture as many search results and views as I can - greedy me! Haha! :))

@@MarkBryanRC Ah, hah, you're an English teacher, Mark? Awesome! I do have to admit after growing up all over the places, many years in English speaking schools, it's the language I use most, also because my wifey and I have it as a common language, I never managed to learn proper Finnish... But one priviledge of not being a native English speaker is I can mix and match, say boot one day, trunk the other! :D

Good idea thanks for sharing You don't need CA glue That stuff is overkill I mean if you have a heavy vehicle and you're using a lot of power then I can see using CA glue but with a lightweight vehicle that is not overpowered that will do the trick just fine.

Hi mate, I never knew you glued your tyres. As Tamiya don't recommend it in their manuals, I just assumed you went with them. In hindsight though you do run a lot of brushless, so yeah, it's totally understandable. Great tip too with that flexible glue, I've never glued tyres myself although I can imagine how super glue would be a total nightmare. This flexible stuff seems totally ideal for the job. Nice one mate...👍🏻😁.

Hiya mate! Yeah, I do glue some of my tyres, but prefer not to if I can get away with it. Some of my manuals do say to glue the tyres, but I don't remember off the top of my head, except for the Lunchbox that definitely shows using glue. I didn't glue them as a trial, and the rear wheels span inside the tyres when they got wet! Yeah, when I have a hopped up motor it's usually needed, like on my Neo Scorcher and Blitzer. All the best my good friend! 😀👍

Great way to stick the tires on mate. I used silicone adhesive before, same thing I'm guessing. CA or Super Glue can be a pain when you use the thin stuff, but it does "flow" around the bead area easily (CA or Super Glue is not good if it gets on the foam inserts), i use medium thick CA for tires now.

Thank you for sharing, Mark! Great tip. I remember you have mentioned it before, but it was great with a separate video and full demo. ...and thank you for watching, Mikael! Yes, I'm glad you asked, it's a very good question! The glue does leave some residue on the rims when you remove the tyre, but it's easy to remove as it doesn't react with the plastic rims, it just peels off like a sticker! All the best my mate! :)

Thats really good info Mark. Like you say, other glues and super glue type of stuff is mega messy. I wonder if it would hold on 6s trucks if you was to put more on. What about crawler tyres Mark, do you think it would work on those?

Hey Tibs - thanks mate! No my friend, I reckon if you have a really powerful motor CA glue is the only way to go! As for crawlers, I reckon it's worth a try, it seems OK on my CC01 with an 80T motor. Take care, bud! 😀👍

Hi Mark, hope your keeping well. Interesting alternative to CA glue. Great tip my friend. Interestingly, the advert after your presentation, was for Gorilla super glue, coincidence? But, certainly Fantastic Elastic seems so much easier to use that CA glue and should you spill some over the tyre, then a swift rub and away it goes, whereas with super glue, you’ll end up at AE for removal off your fingers! 😁😆. Nice tip. P.S. got my reverse light working on the Orlandoo Hunter Land Rover Defender, stupid me, put the + and - round the wrong way on the little distribution board. All re-soldered and working as it should. Only thing is, what to do next?…..take care my friend, 👌😉

Hi there and thanks for sharing your experience! I've never tried this glue on alloy so I'm not sure. But when I've put the glue on too thickly it can take 3 to 4 days to dry. Maybe it doesn't like the alloy though.

@@MarkBryanRC Yeah. I did wonder about sanding the surface of the wheel to get better adhesion. I liked this concept as I don't trust meself with super glue :'D Maybe it's because I tried this on my drift car?
@MarkBryanRC
@MarkBryanRC Жыл бұрын
That's a good idea, most glue works better on a bigger surface area and sanding will do that. It must be worth a try. Haha, I don't trust myself with superglue either, last time I used it I only managed to glue my fingers together!!! 🤣 Not sure if it was because it was your drift car, these rally tyres I glued on had a real hammering on all surfaces 😬 and they didn't come off! 👍

Thanks again Mark. Ordered. I’ve got to glue my tyres for racing but I’m absolutely done with CA. Don’t start me off😊. Tried black silicone but sadly failed. Thought it was the grail of rc tyre bondings. Can’t stand the mess and the waste from CA. Ruined more than one decent set of tyres and rims messing around with acetone and the like trying to reclaim rims or just swap rubber for different surfaces. £ for £ rc wheels and tyres are super expensive so CA can b@gger off ! Best wishes to you and your trusty cameraman. Peace. MR

No worries, MR, I hope it works for you... it's best to leave it to dry for a few days if you can. And I can tell you it won't hold a tyre on at 45mph, as I just found out!
