Oh, Mark, this is good timing with this video, I need this! I actually already got me some flexible glue, I learned that from another video, but so far I've just been adding dabs of it, so most of the glue is probably in a blob inside the wheel... Distributing the glue really well and putting the tyre with that method and spinning to distribute even better. that all makes so much sense it makes me feel stupid to not have figured this out myself, but that's why it's so necessary that experienced guys like you keep making these basic tutorials, very much valued! Bonus comment, I like how even you, native English speaker, is also inconsistent in your spelling of Tyre/Tire!
@MarkBryanRC3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mads - I'm so pleased you found this video useful - music to my ears! Yes, I have glued on so many tyres over the years, and practice makes perfect - well, as good as I can get anyway! Oh - the spelling of "tyre"?!?!?! Yes, I did that on purpose, as I know that many people will search for videos like this using the American spelling, "tire". As I work in a school and teach English, this feels alien to me to use what I consider to be "incorrect English"!!! But I want to capture as many search results and views as I can - greedy me! Haha! :))

Hi mate, I never knew you glued your tyres. As Tamiya don't recommend it in their manuals, I just assumed you went with them. In hindsight though you do run a lot of brushless, so yeah, it's totally understandable. Great tip too with that flexible glue, I've never glued tyres myself although I can imagine how super glue would be a total nightmare. This flexible stuff seems totally ideal for the job. Nice one mate...👍🏻😁.

Hiya mate! Yeah, I do glue some of my tyres, but prefer not to if I can get away with it. Some of my manuals do say to glue the tyres, but I don't remember off the top of my head, except for the Lunchbox that definitely shows using glue. I didn't glue them as a trial, and the rear wheels span inside the tyres when they got wet! Yeah, when I have a hopped up motor it's usually needed, like on my Neo Scorcher and Blitzer. Great way to stick the tires on mate. I used silicone adhesive before, same thing I'm guessing. @@MarkBryanRC Yeah. I did wonder about sanding the surface of the wheel to get better adhesion. I liked this concept as I don't trust meself with super glue :'D Maybe it's because I tried this on my drift car?
@MarkBryanRC Жыл бұрын
That's a good idea, most glue works better on a bigger surface area and sanding will do that. It must be worth a try. Haha, I don't trust myself with superglue either, last time I used it I only managed to glue my fingers together!!! 🤣 Not sure if it was because it was your drift car, these rally tyres I glued on had a real hammering on all surfaces 😬 and they didn't come off! 👍

looks like E6000 or "shoe goo" that's sold in the US

Hi Scott - I think you must be correct, others have said the same! Worth a try, Steve of Shen RC says it works, too! 😀👍

This is shoe geo and its like $5-8CAD for like half a tooth past bottle and its a good price for that amount
@MarkBryanRC Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info, if shoe goo is the same it should do a decent job of gluing tyres! Cheers!

Hi Mark, I dunno…part of the hobby is accidentally gluing your tires to the work bench or gluing yourself to the tires….😀

Haha! Love this comment Bro! You are so right, it wouldn't be the same without gluing yourself to something! Have a lovely weekend, my friend! 😄👍

Thanks again Mark. Ordered. I’ve got to glue my tyres for racing but I’m absolutely done with CA. Don’t start me off😊. Tried black silicone but sadly failed. Thought it was the grail of rc tyre bondings. Can’t stand the mess and the waste from CA. Ruined more than one decent set of tyres and rims messing around with acetone and the like trying to reclaim rims or just swap rubber for different surfaces. £ for £ rc wheels and tyres are super expensive so CA can b@gger off ! Best wishes to you and your trusty cameraman. Peace. MR

No worries, MR, I hope it works for you... it's best to leave it to dry for a few days if you can. And I can tell you it won't hold a tyre on at 45mph, as I just found out! But at normal speeds it works a treat. Oh yes, I've had bad experiences with CA glue, my fingers will never forgive me!!! Best wishes to you, too, all the best! 😎🤞👍

I'll let you know how it gets on Mark.. First is a pair of short course truck control tyres racing on astroturf. Lots of weight being thrown around so should test the integrity of the bead fully. Peace. MR

Success ! High traction astro, lots of weight thrown around, impacts, jumps - solid. On touring cars probably even better. Result. Thanks once again Mark. MR

hi what if the tire has foam inserts
@MarkBryanRC10 ай бұрын
Hi! No problem, just fit the inserts into the tyre before you fit it to the wheel, the glue will not affect the inserts, I've done it many times! 😎👍

Didn't work for me mate, think my car is too powerful ran it up on the bench two tyres came straight off.
@MarkBryanRC2 ай бұрын
That's a shame mate. Worth a try though, I used this glue on tyres for a 13.5T brushless car and it was OK, but much faster than that the I'm not sure. Sometimes it does take a few days to dry properly though. Hope you find something that works, there is always the dreaded superglue!!!! 😎👍
