I got started in the hobby in 1996, so, not all that long after this video was produced, in the grand scheme of things. I've still never owned an Associated car, though! I remember the RC10B2 came out around the time I got started...give or take a year or two. I couldn't afford it back then, though. My first car was a Kyosho 2WD nitro stadium truck that I found on sale. I'd love to get one of the vintage reissue "pro level" buggies someday. I subscribed to RCCarAction back then. Names like Cliff Lett, Jay Halsey, Brian Kinwald, etc. bring back some great memories.

My obsession began in 1987. I attended a race in Northwest Indiana, and bought an RC10 the next week. Great video sure brings back good memories.

I remember this was at RCH Costa Mesa! I loved going there and running my Junior two and a Kyosho turbo optima I had. I met Brian Kinwald when he was racing there.

Ah yes, 1989. I was running around with a clod buster and a lunchbox back then. Fast forward to today and it's still all about the off road bashers with my Arrma Kraton.

I wanted an RC 10 So Bad as a kid.. I had the Radio Shack Golden Arrow, the guy at Radio Shack did teach me how everything worked & how to fix it.

Gil Losi & Gil Losi Jr. helped create the RC10 & then started there own business right after. If it was not for the Losi family the R/C car hobby certainly would not be or have what we do today. All thanks to the backbone of our hobby, Team Losi.

Associated REALLY needs to do another batch of 91 World's cars imho ...come to think of it, a 10T repro (and maybe a GT, too?) would be SUPER, as well!!

I miss my rc10 watching this video, still don't miss the six gear transmission though, the stealth was a game changer.
@scottwashburn18238 ай бұрын
When my friend, John Askar, gave me an old RC10T to restore. One of the things I replaced was that 6 gear trans with a stealth one.

In a early 2000's a coworker/good friend gave me a mint RC-10 from the 80's, his dad was a college professor and bought a bunch of them and had his students build them and 6:35 race them. The one I was given was his dad's and it had never been run and the more I looked into it I'm pretty sure it was a first release car, unfortunately had money problems years ago and my lame ass sold it 🤦

That sucks, and I hope you're doing much better now. I was actually just thinking about where I could source an original RC10.

Another neat bit of history is the bigger MRC world scale kits were inspired from the rc10 designs also known as a "rc10 on steroids"

This makes me want to pull out my rc10 "team car" and see how easy it would be to put some new lipo batteries and a new brushless motor in it to see how much longer they run now vrs. the old nicads.

I’m curious did the RC buggies we have today Evolve from those things 😂 the 2WD buggy from 1980s
@friktionrc Жыл бұрын
Yup pretty much the 1980s and 1970s….and a lot of those were themselves based on real life Baja / off road buggies etc albeit with companies making spin-off models, changing decals etc etc

Of course. The RC10 is still a sweet handling machine, in my opinion. I don't have my original one, but bought another back in 2005 and will never sell it.

For the record, I did not pick the music. This whole video was created by Associated back in 1989. Interesting glimpse into the 80's. I was in junior high when my friend gave me this VHS as a birthday present.

I got into rc in 88. It was a lot different back then. I remember the clod buster being the big thing. My friend had a Blackfoot truck, and I got a midnight pumpkin. A few years later my brother picked up an original RC10 and he still has it but hasn't run it in a long time. I also had a grasshopper. I remember those high tech speed controls with the copper contacts.
