Hi Jason, thank you for this very informative video! I was able to find the original full size installation instructions from Teraflex for installation on a Jeep YJ. The way you have oriented the Z-Boxes in your installation is indeed the correct way according to the original manufacturer. Frame mount hinge to the outside for the front and frame mount hinge on the inside for the rear. I have just started the installation on my RC4WD Gelande 2 Cruiser. I am installing a complete set of Teraflex Revolver Shackles and Z-Boxes front and rear. There are no corresponding mounting holes in the frame, so I'm using Permatex Steel Weld Metal Epoxy to attach the Z-Boxes to the frame. I used some of the mounting components from the RC4WD Leaf Spring Kit to mount the Revolver Shackles at the front and oriented the hinges toward the front bumper to avoid interference with the steering linkage. I am using the RC4WD VVV-S0120 Ultra Scale Hardened Steel Driveshaft "Ver 2" (80mm - 110mm / 3.15" - 4.33") with no drop-out issues. I also had to purchase the RC4WD Z-S2111 Trail Finder 3 Front and Rear Leaf Spring Mounts in order to mount the Revolver Shackles at the rear of the frame. Once I have both front and rear suspension mounted to the frame, I will then determine the length of shocks to use. Currently the 80mm Rancho ones are too short. I will most likely go with 90mm ones.

Wow Glenn, your build sounds awesome, glad you were able to make it work! I never thought of checking the 1:1 installation instructions but I guess that goes to show that RC4WD really makes these things true to scale. Good luck with your build, it sounds like it's coming out great!

How come no one in the RC world knows how revolver shackles are supposed to work? All you have done here is made a rigid shackle lift.The shackles are supposed to be collapsed on them selves,then open up when flexing,thus maintaining stock ride height.

Very nice Jason. You gunna do the D110 Shock-hoops and 100mm shocks up front, 90mm in rear? You'll pick up another good inch and half. It's funny how alot of guys think Shooter-shackles and Z-box's are cheating but to me...some real Toyota guys use them on their real 4x4 so what the big deal. I did the O-ring modification and moved the leafs around a little....short leaf on top for anti-wrap and mediums on the bottom for support. I get about 3 inches of flex. But curious what kind of flex I would get if I put my Shooter-shackles one it. Also....you gunna do the Motor-drop conversion on that one?
@tomlucasrccrawlers91088 жыл бұрын
***** yes..Josh is run'n longer shocks. I've tried 110mm King Shocks and they were too long. 100mm are better. Right now I'm running 90mm all around. I'm really happy but later will buy the 100mm. It really helps. I really am getting about 3 inches with those simple mods but just moving the leafs around wouldn't have given me the flex I wanted...the O-ring modification is where I'm giving credit to. Are you with "RC4WD Trailfinder Fan Page" on Facebook? Thats where I've gotten most my tips. A friend Nathan Crandall is getting right at 3.5 inches of flex with no Shooter-shackles or Z-box's. All he did was the O-ring modification and the Chino-modification(hard to explain without pictures) and from just looking at it , it looks stock. I seen his truck and got to hang with him last weekend. Truck runs really good and the suspension is very smooth and compliant. Nathan's a great guy. Mid Life RC has a very extensive video of the motor-drop conversion. I can't out do that video or add anything to it...it's a good one....you should do that mod while your waiting on parts. Only takes maybe 30 minutes at most. Tom
@tomlucasrccrawlers91088 жыл бұрын
Hey Jason. The 100mm will work in the back but you'll need to run them on the inside mount. The Trailfinder Facebook page you have to spell out just like this "RC4WD Trail Finder2 Page". Those exact spacing. Just ask for permission to join. Terry will approve it fairly quick.
@tomlucasrccrawlers91088 жыл бұрын
***** No problem, your welcome buddy. I've had my TrailFinder about 3.5 years or so and less than a couple of months ago I put the Revolver motor in it then the motor-drop conversion and then I found that TF2 page.... it's really renewed my interest in my Truckfinder. I've done so many modifications to my Trail Finder that it performs easily as good as an well set-up SCX10 with weights in the wheel and a low turn motor. Tom

***** Your right Jason. Just hope...even with all the upgrades that it holds together with all the attention it's been getting. I've never babied it but now it just makes sooo much torque and with the offroad enhancements I drive it even harder than I used to. ***** you know Jason....I don't think I ever paid a $10 fee to be in the Super Saver club. But I know I'm a member.... definitely some good savings over a regular customer. I bought my first kit , a Clodbuster there in 1989. I bought my daughters Honcho a couple of Christmases ago for $290 to my front door. Great customer service. 8 or 9 years ago I broke a knuckles on a Wednesday(Tower was closed because it was 1am)....had a 2.2 comp on Saturday and was leaving for the comp on Friday with my two boys. They had the knuckles to me in 24 hours. Ya.....let's see RC4WD have that type of customer service.... they won't even pick up their phone. RC4WD never sent me the wrong part(but I hear it alot on TF2 fan page) but they're shipping and customer service sucks and since they redesign their website you can't hardly find anything. Tom

after installing the zbox on the back my drive shaft falls off. what drive shaft would you recommend
@colibrifpv4 жыл бұрын
RC4WD makes some upgraded driveshafts called "Punisher" drive shafts, you may want to check them out. Although, it sounds like your problem is that you have so much articulation that the drive shafts are extending too much, is that right? I know the punishers are much stronger because they are made of metal, but I would have to look up the length of the punishers to see if they are any longer...

I haven't, but mine gets pretty close. I imagine you'll have to limit the travel just a bit to prevent that, or go with some upgraded drive shafts like the punishers, which you would probably have to do eventually anyway because I hear the plastic ones often break, although mine have been just fine.

mrk107 . In Japan and other countries like England they call the Toyota pickup trucks Hilux until late 1995 . Here in the USA we called them just Toyota Pickups if the truck was an SR5 then we called them that . I know I owned 4 Toyota's trucks in my life time . The The last I bought was in 1995 . The New model . It was the first Toyota truck that actually have a name for the first time here in the states . This was my last new Toyota I bought and it was the first Toyota Tacoma . All other models before that was hilux or just Toyota . I notest on Craigslist that people are starting to call earlier models Tacoma's when they are not Tacoma's . This sort of pisses me off when people do this . In late 1995 was the first year for the SE 2200 to end and the beginning of the RE2400 engine . The RE2400 had a lot more power than the RE2200 and with the 5 speed trans it got upwards of 30 MPG . My Tacoma got 32 MPG and it was 2wd with the 5 speed . My wife and I put almost 300.000 miles on that truck in 21 years we owned it and only replaced tires Brakes pads , clutch kit . Batt , and a starter . That was it . Best truck we had ever owned . Then Toyota made them bigger and taller and that sucked .because when they did that the MPG went down the drain to about 25 MPG . I am just letting people know the history of the Toyota truck and the Tacoma truck .
