Just picked up a Wendigo today and it seems like a solid rig. Have heard of some issues with the slipper clutch being poorly adjusted and some drive train problems as a result. Checked for bump steer and there's none at all. I think this'll be a good rig, especially for those of us who ran the tenth scale Yeti back in the day.

Nice review. Came here specifically for a review on this truck, as I've been thinking about one. Not familiar with the channel, but I may check out some of your other reviews after seeing this. My only turn off was the music playing over the driving footage. Hearing the raw sound was much nicer, IMHO.

I managed to snap the plastic transmission-to-transfer case driveshaft my first week of owning it. I have another plastic one on its way but I would highly recommend purchasing the aluminum shaft when it becomes available again. Other than that, great truck and great review! Seems like you were beating on it pretty hard and it took it well!

Quality of factory assembly continues to be an issue. I have a Camo X4 which also had a number of issues with poor factory assembly. Gen 8, same thing. RedCat products, in my opinion are second rate compared to the competition, which considering the price point shouldn’t be a surprise. The saying, “you get what you pay for”” seems to hold true with RedCat products, across the board. Over all, I like RedCat products, I just know that keeping an eye on things falling off or coming loose is part of the process. Thanks, as always for another great and honest review.

I put my Landslide tires on this and I had a blast in the sand with itthe extra with on the tires it rolls so smooth over the sand dunes it's crazy

There's no way to get rid of torque Twist on a Rock Bouncer. Straight up. Specially out of the box. I thought from You video out of the box. It did wonderful. Definitely suspension maybe little lighter fluid in the rear. Or lighter in the front or in the back definitely some changes in shock oil. Would definitely make it run a little nicer over the Rocks but I mean. Stock out of the box truck. Truck looks right on. I bet if you bring The Wraith to that same spot and won both of them. With hey RTR Axial Wraith. I don't even think it would be a contest. And who wants a truck that you don't need to modify especially in this kind of class of truck. Come on. Great video. I saw the red cat video. And they picked the right person to do their video very good for you. Keep up the great work man you do honest reviews

Great honest review Greg 🙌 I’d like to see a “Pro” version with a sensored power plant, metal driveshaft, jounce bump stops, piggyback shocks and a pinion retaining clip...and FPV READY 👍 Tip: if the front or rear driveshaft comes off the pinion the BEST way to reattach it is by removing the diff cover and pushing the pinion tight against the diff housing wile firmly installing the driveshaft yoke against the opposing pinion bearing ensuring their isn’t any play and you won’t have any problems...if you take the easy way out by just pushing the yoke back on and tighten it down it allows the pinion to internally push forward toward the ring gear and allow some free play... that’s why I’d like to see a pinion retainers. Plus I’d FPV THE SHIT OUT OF IT 🤘😁🤘

BarharborBasher Thanks! The pinion/output shaft in the axle is one piece with a through-hole now, so it uses a screw pin instead of just a set-screw to retain the yoke. I agree a Pro version would be sweet!!

Looks like the shocks are the main issue with this truck, better valveing, and proper shock oil. Though for me the tires would be the first thing to go, other then that I agree, itll be interesting to see what people turn these trucks into

Ahh crap! May 2019 I tip-toed into this avocation with a Rustler VXL. A month later I'm unboxing a TRX-4 Sport and figuring my needs are met. Then Axial introduced the RTR Capra and I eagerly placed an order with Santa. Then Valentines Day 2020 I'm peeling off a deposit for a Losi Tenacity DB Pro. Now Redcat offers this. Weed finally becomes legal and I can no longer afford it because of a runaway RC addiction.

Looks like you got some over steer in the soft sand (causes the front to tuck under and roll over).. Generally you can help this with softer rear suspension and/or stiffer front suspension.. You want the front to push a little and not get so much grip.. You will have fun tuning it.. Put more air in the front tires and less in the rears.. lol

RC Send And Blast Thanks for the note. The music typically covers up background noise or a blown out audio. The few clips without sound in this video were the only ones useable. The winds at the beach were over 20mph which just killed the audio.

I don't know, at that price point it's kinda nice to get the brushless setup and you can always pick up a cheap 550 and ESC if you want to crawl. I stuck a brushless setup in my Gen 8 for laughs and it's a gong show... might invest in that sway bar

Thanks for the videos. I recently got into RC in preparation for some hobbies to do with my boy. I bought the Everest 10 to test the waters and love it but already want to expand and have around 4 different units I would eventually like to own. My 1st decision right now is between the Redcat Wendigo and the Losi Rock Rey. I am looking for a unit that would be fun to take camping and run on some trails, back yard bashing and maybe also some crawling. I am quite easy on everything I own and when J say bash I'm not jumping it 10 ft in the air etc. The Wendigo clearly does not crawl with current electronics but could potentially if I upgraded to Holmes sensored brushless. But that would also make this an expensive rig combined with myself living in Canada where they cost more. Alternatively the Losi seems to make it's way through some of the non extreme rocks from factory and also appears to handle quite well when running fast. What is your opinion on the matter and have you run a Losi Rock Rey?

I like it... running on 2 and 3 s pretty good power ....do you think softer springs and different fomes will help the issues ... I'd like to get one but already have 2 new RCs still in the boxes ....

Tom Andrews The first thing I’m going to try is tires. The Super Swampers are cool, but I think the dense lug pattern along with the rubber compound makes it too stiff and bounces before the suspension can react. After that I’ll play with ride height and oil.

Simon Kubacki Yup, the voice-over thing has a benefit. I think the Camo is a bit better equipped to handle the faster speeds. I think I want to tone down the Wendigo, it really is on ragged edge when topping it out. I however think the Wendigo is probably going to have a bigger following. Beyond being a rock racer or a good basher, it would also make a good 2.2. crawler with some tweaks.

Matthew Jorgensen I was not easy on it. There was additional testing in the rocks when the camera was off and I could concentrate on driving. So far it’s tough!
