Assuming you're using TIG for your welding I have a couple tips that might be helpful. From what I see here it looks like you're not allowing the after gas to do it's job. If you simply hold the torch close to the weld after you turn off the current it will allow the gas to envelop the metal and keep it from oxidizing as much. You might also try using a little less fill rod and a little less current. If you are in fact letting the after gas do it's job then it's a matter of getting the current right. That or perhaps your mix is off if you're using a mixture. I'd go pure argon for something that small. Great video, love the builds...

Yeah, you need a TIG and you can get a cheap one from Harbor Freight that works on 120 volts AC just fine. It will do a much better job than that MIG you're using. They go for around $80 last time I checked...

Thanks buddy, im pretty certain this is going to be the one I have to use the RC4wd v8 on. It is very limited on space. I am excited to try and make it scale like you did on your charity build. Now if I can find one in stock anywhere. lol

Hey, Josh - I´m glad that you´re feeling better. At I8:30, when talking about the Goodyear Eagle slicks, you say "but what do you put on the front?" When building a truck recently I was faced with that very problem; what I did was to measure the OD of my rear tyres and then order myself a pair of model aeroplane wheels with a ribbed tread pattern of the same diameter. The high tyre profile and rounded section look strangely appropriate on my truck, so I thought the idea might be worth mentioning here. By the way, it was a real nostalgic pleasure to see you feature Ol´ No. 2´s rear suspension again : )
@RCeveryday7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip my friend, I will do some searching for the plane tires. Those type searches often render unique finds.
@Del350K47 жыл бұрын
Dupro "low bounce" wheels might look quite cool on a rat rod. With that ribbed tread they remind me of WWII "desert raider" balloon tyres or the sort of thing you might see on I930s hot rods during the 50s, when they raced on dirt.

Awesome Rat Rods, Where do you get the truck cabs from and are they 1/10th scale ?? I dig the weathering too.
@RCeveryday6 жыл бұрын
This one is form shapeways designed by M-customs, my #2 truck is from ossum designs on shapeways as well. The sedan body is from nightcrawlers3D on instagram. They are all pretty close to 1/10 scale. The sizing was set so they worked well with 1/10 scale crawler parts.

How to mount 12mm Hex wheels to Tamiya front axle as shown? Im in struggle :(
@RCeveryday3 жыл бұрын
There are some 3dprinted adapters out there. I drill out 12mm hexes and use some spacers to make it work. Just needs some grease.

is the channel you used for the frame rails a stock material you can buy or something you fabricated from scratch to look like channel?

The chassis is made from 1/2 inch square tubing cut in half. It has been impossible to find any c-channel that size.
