Nice. My mother had a MK1, I think it was green with a yellow strip up the bonnet over the roof and onto the boot until my father drove it into the garage one day and it came out blue hahah :)

Fellow '74 vintage here. My father had a Mk I when I was little. He needed some spare parts, bought a scrap car, scavenged the parts he needed and left the rest to us to dismantle and explore. It was a sad day when the scrap dealer came back to pick it up. I recently built a Datsun Fairlady which too has massive undercuts and I wondered how they got the mold out. You can see two fine lines going across the body, suggesting that the mold is split in three parts so the middle comes out first, and front and stern-sections follow easily.

Hi Mate, i got the shell ,but not started on the shell yet! i'v choosing a proper chassis for it. i chosen a front motor shaft drive to the back. then using a set of drift tyres on to make it more realistic, but yours look stunning

I must admit L&L do some fantastic shells but the measurements they say for their shells are not always correct. I bought the BTCC Volvo 850 shell that was meant to be 190 x 257 but when i got the shell it was 186 x 257 and so the shell was 4mm shorter than advertised so it's 2mm out on each side. I am ordering some 3mm hex nuts hoping that might work but i have a feeling the shell might be to short even with them on it and i have already set the camber as far as i can without it having major effects on the track. I would love to order some more shells for other cars i have but i don't want to take the chance incase they come up short as well.

Try the carson 4 Spoke wheels , they look awsome on my Impreza , I couldnt find the Carson ones but I did find the Tamiya ones (Sc Wheel Classic 1)

As you know, NO 70's Car's have Big Wheels, like 1.9s represent. The 1.48" Cooper Wheels would look so perfect on that Vintage. I REALLY like that Mk.1 Escort!!! It is funny that you mentioned the Mexico version. The original Tamiya Sand Scorcher kit had two sets of decals. The first set is the original blue decals but the other set was Mexico. The re-release does not include the Mexico decals. Not sure why? The original Mexico decals are very rare and hard to get. I have not even seen a picture of what the Mexico version of the Tamiya Sand Scorcher looks like. Have you?

I spary the back of stickers with water so removal & replace is a breeze. Once in place i squeegee the water out with a flat piece of foam.

My biggest bugbear with L&LM shells is there's no indication where to drill the body post holes, wrongly aligned holes can ruin a lovely painted shell.

Yeah older in you Gavin but I can remember the mark ones as my uncle used to work for the Ford dealership in Maidstone in Kent plus he used to always have Ford Escort. And deafly can’t member the Ford Mexico and this one might have to purchase a shell to go onto my RS 200 petrol car that looked quite smart on it.
