I have a model part built which he was working on when he die and would love to finish it in his memory, so watching you build would get wonderful. Cheers Bruce.

Great to see IC motors being talked about again ! I spent many years building and flying IC models then got the electric bug and all the IC stuff got sold on! Over the last few weeks I have decided to put a IC model together again with a 4 Stroke motor as the power plant! So your Video has rekindled the interest even more ! So yes please give us more vids on IC How about a vid on the differences between 4 and 2 stroke motors , their set up and installation How the fuel tank should be installed in the fuselage with respect to the carb spray bar (same height as the spray bar or higher than the spray) Fuel proofing tips Low RPM jet setup and top end jet tune !! How to decide which motor size to use for different size and weight models Looks like that could be quite a few vids !!!!!

This video brings back a lot of memories. I didn't use this particular engine but I used a " Black Widow " engine on a model airplane I made. It was one of those airplanes that you flew in circles. It had control strings to it and all you could do is fly in circles going up and down ( and getting dizzy ). lol I never got into RC flying because it was to expensive and I had seen too many of them just fly off and the pilot going nuts because he'd just lost his expensive RC plane. It was always fun to watch them fly when two pilots accidentally were flying on the same frequency. That was a hoot. Once again you made a great video, thanks.

@moodberry6 жыл бұрын
I have this exact motor. Its been sitting on a shelf for years. But I learned a lot from your excellent technical explanation of how they work. Personally, I like electric more, especially the safety factor, since you have to turn the prop over by hand to start them, and, if you have multiple nitro motors, that takes more time to get off the ground since you have to start them one by one, then do last minute tunings to get them in sync and get the roughness out of them possibly. But I do like the sound. It has the sound of power - more like a real plane. Thanks.
@zolatanaffa875 жыл бұрын
speaking of the sound of power, a few years ago before the birth of jet turbines for modeling, there was a Supertigre engine (a factory now disappeared, Italian) that was born for intubated fans, which had a specific power of 3300 HP / liter! !! it had a rotation speed of around 30,000 rpm and maybe more! imagine how much fuel he drank and the noise he could make!
@maxd87206 жыл бұрын
Can't believe I've never found your channel till now. Your content is absolutely amazing. Subbed for life. Nitro is all I fly, and is still much more popular than many people realize. I'm in Southern Ontario at some clubs or fields it can be 50/50 with glow vs. electric. I'll never give up the sound of raw power. I might do electric someday, but only if I HAVE to. Lol.

Hi Bruce. I love flying my glow engine planes. I only got back into aero modelling a few years ago and was taught electric; which I like too, but glow engines give me a real buzz! I love the sound of an engine, the speed of my plane, and knowing a I can go flat out for 10 minutes without having to worrying about flattening a flight battery. Electric is convenient, but there will always be room in my shed for a glow powered model. Cheers.

I would love to see how you put one together there is always something to learn. I just started recently with Glow. Set up 4 planes, test flew, and happily flying. Hi Bruce, Yes, please do a nitro build. Been a very long time since I flew a nitro powered plane. I liked the Top-Flite Headmaster best, getting about 20+ minute flights out of it with an OS 30. Afterwards, was into helis before my auto accidents caused problems with my back. I'm into electrics now to keep planes clean and much less noise, but do miss that smell of nitro engines.

Hi Bruce, my club fly almost exclusively 46 size glow models due to noise restrictions and it makes the hobby even more gratifying. It would be great to see some build/assembly/setup and proper running in videos to show everyone how to set everything up properly in comparison to electric. A short whiteboard video about deadstick landings wouldn't go amiss either, as many of the newcomers with electric just fly to their timer. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Bruce thank you so much for an insight and explanation of these engines, it reminded me of my childhood, dreaming about owning an rc plane once when I grow older! I am 31 (born in 1987) and used to see these at my local hobby shop when I was an early teen and kept bugging my dad about buying an rc nitro plane... Ofcourse the answer was no, every single time! lol little did he know I actually really loved anything rc that flies and it wasn't just a juvenile phase I was going through, and what do you know? A few years later, I am building and flying my own (electric ofcourse) airplanes and drones with info and tutorials I found online, thanks to you and other youtube instructors like painless360 and the flitetest team! Would these engines run using what we call 2-cycle fuel, similar to a chain saw or weed whacker? Are there small engines available that use this kind of fuel?
@RCModelReviews6 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can get gas engines as small as 10cc (0.61 cubic inch) these days and they run on a gas/oil premix just like a chainsaw. The glowplug (nitro) engines however, require methanol in the fuel and have a higher compression ratio than gas engines.
