Fantastic video, Lee! Thanks a lot! 😃 A tip that may help someone from our hobby that is a cheapass like me (😬): you can get a metal gear servo, modify it for 360° rotation and make a screwdriver with it. I made one with a 9g metal gear servo and it's not strong, but helps a lot. 😊

Thank you, up until now I have been keeping my fingers crossed & hoping that the servos in both of my planes keep going. I knew nothing. My 2nd plane (a Parkzone) was bought at a swap meet. I have no idea how old it is & when I looked, it’s servos are Parkzone brand. Very possible to be the original servos. Now when I need to replace servos I have some knowledge. I'm into radio control trucks cars boats and thanks for this video I do crawler Lowrider drift car and boats the best servos I bought are Reef 300 their super fast and more Is torque so I can make my lowrider hop I mostly use Digital servo and I use smart Technology radio like spektrum DX6R it's a Pistol grip remote I'm just got into stick radio

I have used the cheaper eBay servos exclusively for many years and haven't found them to be unreliable as a whole. I prefer Hextronik servos but find that the Tower Pro brand works equally as well.

Thanks for your videos they are really good and help a lot! I have a couple servos like that little blue one you show in the begining and im really disapointed. Iv broken 4 just trying to get m,y bicopter to fly. I may be using them for the wrong job but its really been anoying me. Iv gota find some quality and not to expensive or heavy meatal gear. Im thinking in the 20 gram range.

It depends on how they 'broke' if they stripped teeth then metal geared servos of the same size may be a better bet... Best of luck!

If I find any review that mentions any poor performance or servos arriving DOA, I never buy. I've still been able to purchase some very economical servos on Bangood. and never had a problem using this criteria.

I got some digital metal gear micro servos from China, some ptk 7455 mg-d and some ptk 7452 mg-d ones. But how should I set up my servo tester for these? I choose PWM output, but what ms and Hz values should I set before starting cycling the servo? I have a ToolkitRC M6 that has this servo testing function that I’d like to use.

Thanks for this video!! really good stuff. just one question though: how do you know how much force a servo needs to have? by that I mean, you always see how much torque they have and that goes from low too high. but how do you know/calculate how much torque you need for a certain surface to be sure about the correct movement in any case?? just wondering...

When I started I cheated and looked at what other models were using that had a similar sized control surface. Most models will come with a recommended servo setup if they don't supply it. If they don't tell you - ask them they'll usually tell you. Or you can see what others are using. Best of luck!

The Spectrum A330 is absolutely junk and come in many planes. Replace them before you try to fly with them. Freewing makes a nice 9g digital servo for $10. ( MD31093-400 ) I'm new to the hobby and learned the hard way. I appreciate your channel and this video. I am gaining knowledge daily. 😀

Servos work from a PWM signal usually (there are exotic ones that use other things like SBUS). The PWM signals are standard and don't care what radio system sits behind them. Hope that helps..

@@Painless360 Thank you for the information. Finally got our and flew my glider and Eagle 60, Had the glider setup to a new FS-I6X and the flight started out great but ended not so. Found a server had failed, grrr, but no damage to speek of. Next was the Eagle for its first flight in over 30 years and little hairy at first but went great after a bit of time in the air and a good landing. Overall a great day for Glow power. Now just waiting for a controller to get here and see what excitement that can create. Thanks again for the great Playlist you have created. Jeff
