markybyeah - If I bought all the components of this kit separately then it would be a lot more expensive. Kits like this are usually cheaper, that's why they're so attractive as an upgrade.

I just picked up a ta04 still has the rubber tires but drifts a little bit. Engine was overheating. I'm going to try some pvc tires for drifting and see if there's less engine friction so it doesn't over heat. Hope it works
@RCProjects
@RCProjects 9 жыл бұрын
+Derek Curtis Hi, the TA04 looks like a cool drift chassis, especially being belt driven. Drifting can be quite intense on a motor because its working fast but not getting enough air to cool it down due to the slow sppeds. It might be a good idea to get a heatsink. They are dirt cheap and will help cool the motor. Gearing could be another cause. Try a lower tooth pinion, it will mean a bit less speed but less work for the motor. Is it brushed or brushless? These are just suggestions and there may be other methods to cool the motor. Good luck with it and have fun. Drifting is great so enjoy. Thanks for watching.

Does the yeah racing kit actually help? Just wondered as I might get one if it does
@RCProjects
@RCProjects 9 жыл бұрын
+Hazza03 Some of the parts do help. The steering is one area I would recommend upgrading, just for the increased strength and stiffness over plastic. The centre driveshaft is a must because the stock one is too flexible. The only other part I would recommend would be the upper arms front and back, just because they are adjustable so you can change camber angle. Everything else is just for looks really. I still would recommend one because buying just the parts I mentioned above separately would come to about the same cost as the full kit.

@RCProjects
@RCProjects 8 жыл бұрын
+Carl Potter Thanks for the feedback. You generally don't use Lithium Ion batteries in RCs, except if they are small toy grade ones with AA or AAA batteries that aren't the NiMH type. I haven't had a chance to use my new LiPo battery yet because it is being used for my TL01 when it gets rebuilt. I generally use the Orion Sport Power 4500mah battery. Great run times and good power delivery. I highly recommend them.
@DJGreasemonkey

Oh right I see, do you know what the charge time like on one of those? I heard lipo can explode is this true? Thank you for taking time out to respond, many thank
@RCProjects
@RCProjects 8 жыл бұрын
I have a charger where you can vary the charge current. I think the general rule is if you set the charge current to the mah/1000, the battery will charge in an hour. My charge current is at 4.5A and the batteries are 4500mah. It does take roughly an hour to charge. The formula seems to work. LiPo batteries don't really explode, if damaged or pierced, they will just catch fire violently. If you want to see what it is like, check out this video, skip to around 11:45: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZrKapSgjNZkh7c Burst is a more appropriate term.

The only issue I had was when a pin came loose on one of the universal driveshafts. It caught on the rear hub, bent the pin and gouged out some material out on the hub. You can see what happened at 4:00 in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHnalGp8qpdgfa8 I got a new set and bathed them in Locktite. They're not coming out again!

+RCProjects you have 4 rims. 2 being the same and the other two being the same. i would have put both the dark grey rims on the rear tires and the bronze ones on the fron tires. not like you had them where they are on one side of the car. just to keep what little weight balanced and for a over all better look. but thats just me. so the back left and right would be the same kind of rim and the front left and right would be the other kind of rim you have. does that make sense? i know its personal taste but i feel the car would look better that way
@RCProjects
@RCProjects 9 жыл бұрын
Ah OK. I get what you mean. I only had the wheels on the car like that to see which one I preferred. I like the bronze Te37s better. They match the Skyline body a bit more that the Gun Metal ones. I never mix up wheels types on any of my RCs. Thanks for clarifying and for watching.
@hardtobearit
@hardtobearit 9 жыл бұрын
Yeah. It could work mixes with the crazy designed ones in the back. I use to drift xmod rc cars from radio shack untill the xmod name was sullied by some bs new gen. I had the scion tc fully kitted and the g35 all done and the ford f150 lifted then lowered for drift. God i miss them. Please do more drift builds with carbon frames and long build vids. Its really fun to see

I've got 2 more episodes of the Drift Project planned. I've torn it down completely to clean it. Going to rebuild it and shim a few parts to reduce slop. Also going to fit a brushless motor too. Then I'm going to finish the Skyline body with some higher quality light buckets and custom stealth mounts. Stay tuned...

hi .. how do you do .. excuse me but i want to ask you some questions .. i wanna buy a new RC drift car because my hpi E10 is always falling apart .. so i'm considering to get a TT 01 .. but alot of people told me that it's not a professional drift car .. and i don't get it what is the difference between a pro car and a beginner car .. as well the recommended the mst cars the ( mst XXX-D pro and its shaft drive as the tt 01) and it's a lot more expensive .. i know its alot of questions so excuse me again .. answer me if you got the time
@RCProjects
@RCProjects 10 жыл бұрын
I researched this a while ago. Shaft driven cars have a rotational force from the spinning motor and driveshaft that make it easier to drift in one direction and more difficult in the other. Belt driven cars don't have this problem because the rotational forces are running parallel to the chassis whereas in the TT01 (or other shaft driven cars) the rotational forces are perpendicular to the chassis. This, in my opinion doesn't downgrade them for beginners, if anything, it makes the TT01 more of a challenge to drift. Technical bit aside... I think that there is no difference between a 'pro car' and 'beginner car'. You can make any road RC a drift car with a simple set of wheels. Its more the changes you do, or can do that make your RC a better drifter. Stuff like steering angle, gearing and geometry can all be changed to suit your style so that you can have the best time drifting. Electronics are also a grey area too, a lot of pro drifters use brushless setups with lipos, but that doesn't mean that you can't use a brushed motor and nimh batteries and get similar results. Its all about personal preference and what you wan't to get out of your RC. The TT01 is, in my opinion, a good base car for a drifter. There's tonnes of stuff you can do to it if you want to enter competitions or you can just leave it stock and still have a good time. There is also the Sakura D3 which is a cheap belt driven kit that just needs a body and electronics. Here's a link if your interested: www.rcgeeks.co.uk/models/electric-cars/3racing-sakura-d3-cs-sport-rolling-chassis-kit.html I hope this helps. Sorry its a bit of a long reply, but opinions and view points can differ massively in RC. I've tried to be a neutral as possible. I hope you find a drift car that works for you. If you have any more questions, just ask. =)

thanks man .. i really appreciate the time you took to answer me .. its means a lot to me .. so thanks again .. alot told me about the Sakura D3 ..i'll see about it .. but i'm really into the tt 01 don't know why but i like it .. so here is another question .. what part should i get for the tt 01 to make it a better drifter ..
@RCProjects
@RCProjects 10 жыл бұрын
memo zoom If you are planning on getting a fresh kit, then bearings to replace the plastic bushings. I would run it completely stock (with drift tyres) and see how it is. The driveshaft on mine was incredibly flexible so I would consider that a must. Makes the throttle more responsive and accurate. Maybe some oil shocks, to stiffen the suspension to stop it leaning in corners, and then go from there. There is so much you can do but its all about personal preference.

Aaron Dark Most of the spare parts from the TT01 where stripped out so it wouldn't be worth it. Plus, I would like to keep those parts handy if something breaks. I have nearly enough parts to make another rolling chassis so if I'm bored one day, it could be something to do. Thanks for stopping by anyway.
