Spine Indexing is the first step I do with arrows. I'll shoot them as bareshafts through paper and nock index/spine index.

Question. Im having trouble with aiming at the top target. I have two vegas targets one above the other. I shoot 6 arrow ends. I can drill x after x on the bottom but when it comes to the top I get very sporadic patterns and the very steady hold that I get on the bottom goes away. Is this a form issue or is there a bow setup tip that might help this situation, Such as moving the dloop up or something? Im a short guy at 5'4" if that helps. Thanks for any advice in advance. Your videos have been very informative and helped my scoring greatly. Thanks Jim

Hi Jim, hard to tell for sure without seeing you but I'll give some ideas to you to try. It's more than likely form related. Not adjusting at the hips as far as leaning back and forward for target height can be a cause. Drawing low and bringing the bow arm up is almost impossible to do and stay steady.

Question, if you have good rythym and good shot execution does how the bow aims really matter? Do you tune your bows that way so it doesn't give you the yips?

When I tune my bows this way what I'm doing is getting them to sit in the middle of the spot I'm aiming at without me having to place them there, minus me building in a little hold up on the target to engage the muscles. That part keeps me from dropping the bow arm and it keeps me from moving up and down on target. The cam sync on the bows are for a better hold at anchor and execution. Initially I want to not have to fight the bow as I anchor and put the pin in the middle of the target. Then at that point I start pulling and expanding in a linear motion towards/away from the target. Having the cams set up correctly keeps the bow from wanting to drop or riser on the aim depending on what's going on for that particular bow. As an example. Let's say on a spiral and the top cam hits first. As I anchor and come to the center of the target, I'll have to be pulling against the wall harder than what I prefer to keep the bow on the stops. Then, as I pull through and expand on my shot, there's not any give in the system hardly at all. So I will pull myself off target if I'm not careful. That's why I build those with a slight give to them and a steadier/easier hold at anchor. Good rhythm and execution is super important. I've done videos on this in the past and it's part of my instructional series as well. But, if you can't get a bow to aim right for you, the rest is just an uphill battle. Steve Anderson will tell you the same thing too. Check out the video at the 4:15 mark. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoXJhXl6ns6hla8
