I had one of these as a kid in the 80‘s, it was my first „pro-grade“ rc-car. I loved it. the way it looks, the wheels, the chassis.. i thought i could re-buy one today, but they are very rare and expensive. A re-release would be an insta-buy for me.

My First RC .. loved it .. upgraded the motor to a mega motor . It went so well but the extra power ended up melting the gearbox bearings and it became a donor car for my other stuff . Those were the days . I was constantly stripping and building this thing .. 😎

Todd L Glad you like the video. Yes I’d like a turbo raider too. As a matter of fact in one of my upcoming videos when i discuss future projects I’ll be asking my viewers for help sourcing one. But for right now i got my hands full with projects and now that the weather is starting to warm up I’d like to just focus on running some of my RC’s and have fun with them. Thanks for your support.

Nice run on the Raider mate, she went ok on the silver can motor. 👍👍

UNBOXING RADIO CONTROL I guess she wasn’t so bad just with a silver can. Going to get that Kyosho mega motor in there eventually and let it rip. Thanks for your support.

Great to see! Nice vid, l remember it being tricky to get good speed from these but some of that is down to the pinion l think? Not sure though it's been a long time but I am a fan of these they are really robust and fun to drive! and l don't know why but l am finding these funky themes so cool right now! I have recently got myself a Blitzer beetle and that is similar! Retro popping right into your face!!! Great stuff again 👍

Did you do a scan of the decal sheet of the new in box one ? Or are there decals available from bluegroove or similar ? Could certainly use another pinion for more wheelspeed. Also oil shocks is a must, along with ball bearings.

My little brothers 1st rc car, I remember that the original kyosho motor was hotter than the 540. Also the kit came with a smaller transmission gear that really made it fast.

Awesome video mate, just subscribed. You should be able to run a lipo on any brushed esc but the problem is the voltage cutoff. I don't think that model supports it. so it will discharge the lipo battery under voltage which lipos don't like and potentially killing the battery. edit I've just looked at the manual and it does have a built in "low voltage operation" but it doesn't specify what it is.

Nice saw mill run. Get that motor in and some oil filled shocks and you can race my outrage or scorpion.

I think you should put a little more beefy motor in it.

Mid motor design is pretty modern for todays standards.

Are you running a 2s on it and see if you can run a 3s through it.
@RCRetro4 жыл бұрын
Brad Kalman I figured since it was my first time out with it, I’d run a Nimh battery. Eventually I’ll stick a Lipo in there.
@bradkalman23534 жыл бұрын
Kyosho should re-release it with the Vintage stuff.
@Mini-z19944 жыл бұрын
It is an interesting buggy for sure, technically the first rwd mid engine rc buggy isn't it as well ?
@bradkalman23534 жыл бұрын
Yes it is mid-motor and kyosho should re-release all its classic brushed motors.

320 amp speed control will handle 2s watch out though you'll snap your original axles got to put some metal in the gear instead of plastic plastic axles don't work that's what I did with mine I have the 109 raider

4:37 , That was nearly on the dime.. I just found one of these in my attic , it was my uncles and its never touched the ground. That said there is no control that I can find up in the attic. I'm looking and modern controllers are EXPENSIVE + the box says it never came with one SO. Is there anyway I can get a "basic bitch" controller lol , I really really want to drive this thing after watching this video. It handles excellent for a 32 year old Kyosho ARR . Even the box I have is in really good shape considering the way it was stored. Tell me something good? The older one is nice , The Futaba Attack-Sport.

Attic finds are always fun. If you want to get it up and running, get yourself a hobby wing 1060 esc which runs for $21.00. Then a cheap reliable remote is a Flysky (eBay) which runs about $40 -$50 and comes with a receiver. If you have any other RC's, you can program them to the same Flysky remote as you can bind up to 10 RC's to it and save the setting for each.
